If you do the bird book next year, simply Charlotte Mason has a good companion book. Also Crystal at Simple Studies has a great companion study to go with it. She also has a YT channel simple+free homeschool (or something like that). She’s a wealth of knowledge because her kiddos are a bit older. Just some ideas for you 😊Great video!!!

This is very helpful! My oldest is in preK/TK this year. I am working on figuring out how I want to plan and organize for next year; adapting the Ambleside weekly grid is such a great idea. I will definitely be trying it out! Thank you for the detailed walk-through!

Oh my kids loved James Herriot more than any other books! I think you guys will like it if you can find time for it. The Bird Book is also cute and not too long.

I’ve heard such great things about the James Herriot book! We just truly had too much on our plate to add anymore books in 😅 I’m excited to be able to focus more on AO as our main curriculum next year so we don’t miss out on any of their great books!

​@@MaryBarfieldoh, with the bird book I have a great tip! There is a Peterson bird coloring book that has pretty much all the birds in it so your child can color the bird while you read about it! Helped my kid focus so much better!

We are an Ambleside Online family too. I have also altered it a lot in previous years, but this year we're pretty much doing it as it says, except we decided to do an abridged version of Robinson Crusoe for my Year 4 daughter after after a few weeks of trying to do the original because she LOATHED it and I decided a summary knowledge of the book was good enough for me as I wasn't really enjoying it either. (I have a year 2 and a year 4 this year.) We use the Good and the Beautiful for math this year for the first time (prior we used MEP but it was too much work for me) and we're doing Duolingo for foreign language. We're basically following Ambleside Online as planned this year except year 4 is the year it changes from form 1 to form 2 and we haven't fully implemented the form 2 changes, but we are 6 weeks into the year. I'm hoping we will have everything implemented by the end of term 2.

I was looking at the AO schedules last night for future years and I’m really tempted to do AO as it is written for both my daughters individual years next year (they would be year 1 and year 3), but I have Fomo and don’t want my oldest daughter to miss out on the books from years 1&2. We are already doing a lot of books from year 1 this year, so would it be too redundant for my youngest to do year 1 again next year? Also we planned to use SOTW as our main world history spine for the next 4 years and I don’t know if I will be upset if we don’t 😅. Also how hard is it to juggle two different years when both kids are younger and need you more? I know it gets easier as they get older/more independent? FOMO is a terrible thing for homeschooling moms 😅

Parables of Nature isn’t religious from what we have used. It’s really neutral. It’s free to look at online if you want to look into it. The stories are very deep and make your kids think. I even think on the stories randomly.
