Everyone who’s getting nostalgic and saying that they loved it: Go and download the game, repopulate the servers, there’s still a large enough community to find games consistently. What else are you going to play anyway, BF2042?
I’ve been bouncing back and forth between this and BFV for the past 8-9 months and they’re both more active than 2042 on Xbox. You can even pick which map you want to play on, because server browsers were a thing. And no bots.
I was a COD fanboy - decided enough was enough and got my first ever Battlefield game - it was BF 1. I could not believe what I was missing out on. Glad to say I still play it! Will hop on later today!
Man I was only 8 and I thought the infinite warfare trailer looked unappealing, thus trailer looked amazing. It got me into history which I hope to do in university lol

It is optimized so well. They nailed it. It runs so smoothly and with beautiful graphics. I have a 970, so it is an old card (I know...). But I can run it with graphics that make me think, "Wow!" Many new games I can't even run at the lowest settings, even if the graphics are so bad that they look like a PS1 game. 😂 Sorry for my Englishen. 🤫
It was the fall of the series. The game when the series went backwards without innovation. BC2 -> BF3 -> BF4 was the golden era. And BF4 was more of a BF3.5 after all. Lets hope we get a proper Battlefield 5 with BF 2025.

I was 18 going to University. The beta dropped during the summer and it was a blast. I remember the soldier leaking just before the presentation too. From what I remember someone took a pic of a cardboard stand or something like that.

Better than the following BFs. They were too cluttered and messy. People could 'hide' camping just by staying still nearly anywhere. What a lot of people don't get is that photo-realism doesn't necessarily make a 'game' good and it can make it worse.
May 6th 2016, I was begging my mom to pre-order this game for me, right before I got my first job and fell in love for the first time before getting my heart broken for the first time. I loved this game to the bone. Battlefield 4, Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 1 have my heart 🙏
Yea, I honestly think we need a good implementation of 128 players. But making them all specialists is stupid, which is what we got. But make them the most generic looking soldiers? Immersive.

I tried it yesterday and none of the serverlists was full. When I tried quickplay, it connected me in a server with 3 players...I am from Europe, maybe that's the problem?

I found this game addictive because it looked and sounded incredible, the fact it looked the way it did on a ps4 was mind boggiling❤ Martini Henry was my favorite weapon.
I found it addictive for those reasons too, but another super important reason I found it addictive was because of the progression system. Classic 120(+20) level BF military rank, every promotion was so satisfying, having to unlock and buy weapons with war bonds, not to mention unlocking pieces of history to read about.. for a hobby war and weapon enthusiasts it blew my mind. Every session was special. I always wanted to play basically. And that I did lol. 1000+ hours. Loved every minute
I was 10 when it came out, now I’m starting college and I still continue to play it my downtime. That’s literally how I started watching Jack and all the other BF TH-camrs. Those were the days!
I fully understood how good it was. I have close to 4000 hrs in the game combined in PS and Xbox. I told my friends DICE would screw up and not make anything close to this game and I was right. I could write a PHD level thesis on it and what DICE has gotten wrong since then. The short answer is BF1 is made for everyone. Since then, DICE has catered to one group or another. Either the hardcore players or the old school players that want "teamwork" because they play with full parties. I could go on and on.

I remember watching that trailer and just like” woooow.” Then I watched your alpha test video, along with Matimio, LevelCap, Xfactor, and Stodeh’s alpha videos, and from that point onwards, i fell in love with BF1. Still great.

Along with my mate who's sadly since passed, lamenting the fact that we'd both bought the game and realised we wouldn't have servers in South Africa only for you to come to our aid and mention in our of your "DICE PLEASE" moments that we should be allowed to have servers, if dedicated servers weren't going to be a thing. DICE listened, we got our servers and my mate and I got a good few months running around like nutters with our Martini-Henrys, A-10s and Lewis guns before he passed. Thank you, Jack. I will always appreciate it.
playing the delta force demo just made me want to play this honestly. the maps here are pretty open too, but it all just feels right. u dont feel naked. in delta force it always felt like i was way out in the open and everyone can see me the trailer reminded me of all the bf1 trailer memes
With all the modern settings we're getting (and we'll be getting in the future) I can see me playing this for another decade until finally Dice makes another historic shooter. This is my "skyrim" of FPS games. Thanks for still playing it Jack

I still have it among my other collectibles, the BF1collectors edition statue. I have nothing but fond memories playing BF1, and it was truly one of the last BF titles that kept me coming back.
I'm not sure if this game worked on Linux through proton, but that kernel level anticheat inclusion probably broke this game on Linux. I really wish anti-cheat stayed out of the kernel on Windows systems given that's how snafu's like Cloudstrike happen.
I was so happy when I moved to Linux at the beginning of the year that my favorite BF1 game ran without issue. Over 2300 hours in this game and now EA has decided to screw over Linux users for an anti-cheat that won't even be effective in a game that has been community policed for years.

This is the type of game dice could still be putting content out for and treating as there #1 shooter. Any bf games after this were a waste of time imo. The next game needs to take notes. I'm looking forward to it and have high hopes.
I like your videos playing BF1, it's great to show a new generation of gamers how they managed to make an excellent game 8 years ago. Unfortunately they didn't achieve the same quality in BFV and BF2042, let's hope they return with this immersion and fun in the next Battlefied.

Had to drop the pc games pass for monthly expenses reasons, recently got it back and when I seen bf1 on there I downloaded it for a nostalgia trip. Turns out there’s a pretty consistent oce server that plays late nights (nzt) and it’s the most fun I’ve had in a fps to date.
May 6th 2016 I was waiting until 6th period to watch the BF1 trailer lmao.. I sat in the back since it dropped during 6th. Freshman year of HS, good times. I remember being so damn hyped.

Battlefield 1 was the last actual Battlefield. No wokeness, no high pitched women soldiers screaming like in BfV, no trashy decals and skins. It was just non stop, somewhat realistic, chaos and action. Of course it also had and still has some problems, but all in all it was and still is a great game.
What a beautiful game, mad to think it's 8 years old now and still looks so good. Thanks for watching! ❤

Always go to the server list, and you will always find full servers on conquest and team deathmatch, etc.

The game works absolutely flawless with proton on Linux and Steam Deck. I had much fun the last weeks until the update arrives.

Suppressed sniper rifles in WW1 wasn't a fantasy. The first rifle suppressor was invented in 1902 and was used in the war in a small scale.

Had to drop the pc games pass for monthly expenses reasons, recently got it back and when I seen bf1 on there I downloaded it for a nostalgia trip. Turns out there’s a pretty consistent oce server that plays late nights (nzt) and it’s the most fun I’ve had in a fps to date.
I just downloaded 1 and 5 to have a revisit!

Yes, very. Just make sure to set your filter to allow 0 spaces open, otherwise all the full servers will be hidden.

Battlefield 1 was the last actual Battlefield. No wokeness, no high pitched women soldiers screaming like in BfV, no trashy decals and skins. It was just non stop, somewhat realistic, chaos and action. Of course it also had and still has some problems, but all in all it was and still is a great game.
