This is what annoys me about being made to feel like you have to tip , When places charge a fortune for food, $31 fish and chips, $26 Burger , $$$ Beer , why cant they just pay their staff fairly in the first place.
Exactly, being charged extornionet prices for food is bad enough but then like you say, the staff are being short changed in their salaries, shame on you America.

Because unlike other countries where servers and delivery people are on salary, here in USA they get paid in tips
Tipping is our custom in the US. We don't have to explain or justify it for you. No country has to explain or justify their customs for any foreigner.

@@nicknugent4034 if a wait ress brings over two or three plates it doesn't matter if it cost $5 or it cost $500. It's a plate. Why should I tip them more for bringing over the same plate? It's the same job. Get it 😆 it's not my problem that the restaurant charges a crazy price for food.
@@tomcarl8021- Well they have a point. Tipping in the United States has gone out of control. The price for a meal should be the price for a meal. In addition, all other services as taxi/ridesharring, food delivery service, hotels, coffee, etc. Should not be tipped based. Basically tipping in the United States is an additional tax that the public has to pay for a commodity/service. Finally, I have lived in the United States my whole life.

Fish and Chips is £19.50 at The Narrow. With the currency conversion its not far off the price in Vegas. Love the banter with you and Martin. So much fun. Cheers
Those prices are more in line with a fine dining experience rather than pub fare shocking , won’t be going there any time soon, Martin looks so relaxed in front of the camera and lovely to see you both again, regards ✅👊🏻

31 dollars for 2 beers. And then the whole corrupt system then expects you to tip to top up the servers wage. Working to those profit margins you should pay your staff a fair wage.

@@michaelcampin1464 yeah Norway is expensive. Mostly down to tax. The US hasn’t the same tax levy on alcohol. But my main gripe is then to have to top up wages with tips. Pay staff a decent wage.

Again absolutely crazy prices... $201.56... For bang average food & drink... Add a 20% gratuity at $37.20... Totaling $238.76... That's almost $120.00... or £90.00 each... It's an absolute joke... Not forgetting the $31.41... plus a $5.00 tip... for the 2 cans Martin bought at the start of the video... and that puts this lunch for two... with drinks... To an eye watering total of... $275.17... or £205.61... I'm sorry guys... But at those prices!... Zero out of Ten.

I’m going to miss Martin when you come back to Blighty Mc. What a great, down to earth guy. I must say that the Vegas food is on the pricey side but it does look pretty good. I’d give both the burger and the fish a decent 6 out of ten. The burger was slightly thin on the ground but a generous portion of salad in a meat diet is not always a bad thing. There was also plenty of filling in that fish to be fair.
The Mc and Martin show are thoroughly watchable and perhaps they inadvertently cover up a multitude of “food sins”!! So watchable and just brilliant fellas. Roll on the next one please.🙏❤️🥊.x

We were there a few weeks ago for the very first time and I only ate half of my burger. It was cold and I should have returned it but I didn't 😔 Love watching you too! You're such fun! ☺️ Oh yeah, I forgot to say we noticed behind the counter by the chefs there were like at least 20 orders sitting up there the whole time😮

Thanks for the video!! Las Vegas up until 20 years ago used to be a place to go for cheap holidays (namely, cheap booze and food). I haven't heard of a lot of people heading there any more. The food in Vegas has to get shipped in so not much is fresh. Your next trip to the USA should include a trip up the Alaska/BC coast -- that's got some awesome scenery and isn't a big rip off.

For openers, I almost fell off my chair at $36 for 2 beers. Both of those meals were a joke. At those prices, coming out cold is unforgivable. The burger did look like a Burger King burger. The burger at GR Burger looked far better and was cheaper. The fish was lost in the coating, designed to make the portion look bigger. Two thirds of the check was beer which was actually the best value. I agree with both your ratings.
Blue Moon is one of my favourites in the Mile End shopping mall there’s a blue moon bar I frequented it quite a few times it was by the entrance to New York hotel

Had a burger from a road side van yesterday, the chap makes his own burgers, with fresh fried onions and a toasted bun, absolutely superb, looked far better than the one in the video, and tasted great. ,,,, and only £2.80, so how can Ramsy and his like charge so much for a poor comparison to the one i had!
Matin is spot on about tipping in the US. Lee, think your Blue Moon was $11; Martin's Modelo--$19 for the larger can + tax & $5 tip. Fish & Chips at The Narrow cost £21.50 ($25.81 USD). So Ramsey's Pub & Grill in Vegas is more pricey at $30.99 (£25.82). In fact, the Pub and Grill may have bumped up prices since this video for 2022: Fish & Chips--$33.99 (£28.31). Not sure it's worth it mate!
Hi and loved this vodeo as ususal MacMaster, But my opinion on this is that no matter who it is who has their name on the venue such as Gordan Ramsey this usualy means that the price does up and the quality of food is just the same as any regular food place. But on the other hand when Lee tried the burger on the previous video it can change alot and be worth the while trying it, But this video it does seem very overpriced for what you are getting as well as paying just for the name of the venue. Take care and keep safe my friend...
We went in 2018. Had exactly the same problem; fish and chips were cold. Sent them back and they came back hotter, but not by much. Totally underwhelmed.

$200+ and it didn’t even include a tip , I don’t agree with the silver fox’s take on tipping the service (btw he is a funny drunk😂) . Years ago the food & drink in the states was very cheap in restaurants now they are charging $22 for a single can of beer , this kind of mark up can more than cover paying waiters a decent wages. Also the more expensive everything gets the more you’re tipping for the same thing.

We did Vegas five years ago. I don’t recall the prices being so insanely expensive. Sure a lot has happened in five years but even so….Martin is entertaining when sober but absolutely hilarious when he gets tipsy.

Planes trains and automobiles is one of my all time favourites - Steve Martin loved john Candy and said he was exactly the same off camera . A Kind genuine funny man . He also loves that movie and loves to talk about it

Never seen a knife like that before! I think Gordon has so many restaurants now that he can’t maintain standards. Bulk burgers up with cheap ingredients. But you should get more with the price you are paying. Lovely to see Martin back.

Totally agree..the owner on those prices has to be making enough to pay overheads and staff.. don’t open a business if you can’t pay staff…
Agree, owner is making profit on those menu prices and paying the staff peanuts, I bet the wait and kitchen staff don't get the gratuities on the bill, not all anyway.
Jeez Vegas looks way more expensive than in 2015….no way I’d ever pay those prices! Guy Fieri’s in NYC was much better value…..for the stone cold meal and the price of the beers alone it’s a 3/10 for me, a big name should always justify the big prices😏

Shocked at the prices for what you got. Plus how many restaurants does Gordon have to have the same sticky toffee pudding and beef Wellington on the menus.

Vegas hasn’t been cheap since the ‘70s and ‘80s when it was mostly buffets. I think one could do better in Vegas other than Gordon Ramsay. Why pay haute cuisine prices for hamburgers when you could get real haute cuisine at other restaurants?

It always worries me when sending meals back in restaurants, I get very paranoid about them being interfered with out of spite for complaining,

That's my fear too Scott... I've seen these Hidden Camera TV Shows... Like Mystery Diners... Where they have covert cameras covering the whole building... (Including the kitchen)... And sometimes the staffs actions are (At best) unprofessional... And at other times their actions are criminal... Simply by them interfering with a customers food or drink. (Including bodily fluids) That's why i like establishments with open kitchens... Where the food is prepared in front of the customers. (Just like the TV Show Hell's Kitchen). 👍

As a Yorkshireman living in the USA, most "British' pubs think fish and chips consists of a little fish in 2 pounds of batter. I have found one place that does it right and thats a little place in Vienna VA

Depends on where you go. Been going to the USA since 1989, it's as cheap or expensive as you want.
Some of the prices back on Long Island were great value for decent food. Its the tourist traps on the strip in Vegas that are rip offs. Id like to see them find spots away from the tourist areas out in the suburbs. Im looking forward to seeing the BBQ steaks or brisket as big as a plate that the yanks are famous for. Search for a Franklin's.

"servers in america don't get paid a lot of money", ehh your $5 tip says otherwise! tough work carrying 2 cans, wonder how many they do in an hour. There is a law in place a few years now that if a waiters tips do not make up minimum wage then the employer has to pay the balance.
"if you can't afford to tip don't go out for a meal" well instead why not "if you suspect a restaurant is not paying staff a suitable wage then boycott it, and let them know why" that goes for ANY business. Some restaurants in the US have a no tipping policy, and the workers obviously know it before applying.
What really annoys me is that tipping is almost at the point where it is mandatory. My wife and I dine out frequently, in any establishment that adds their " discretionary gratuity / service charge " I have it removed from the bill.
I'm perfectly satisfied ( for the most part ) to pay the high prices in most of these establishments but I totally refuse to subsidize their staff's wages. With good service I always leave at least 15% and in many instances more than that.
I would tend to agree with you regarding what servers get paid. Let's be realistic most servers between wages and shared tips enjoy a reasonable wage ,, if they didn't restaurants would have no serving staff. Our neighbour's Grand daughter works full time at an upscale fast food restaurant here in Canada she earns the statutory wage ( $15.20 ) per hour plus she averages $ 350.00 per week in tips. I would suggest that a weekly wage of around $ 960.00 is reasonable ,, very reasonable.
