This instrument has to be one of the most underrated instruments. In the hands of a skilled virtuoso it’s one of the most beautiful instruments I’ve heard.
When the strings are plucked, I feel the strings of my heart are being plucked. Though my ancestors left Africa hundreds of years ago, I can feel the blood running into my veins.

I don't know what it is about kora music that makes me emotional, but man, this stuff gets me deep. Reminds me of the liminal space when you're laying on the grass in summer, eyes almost shut, getting impressions of sunlight dancing. And a journey. All mixed in together. Just beautiful.

I'm some random white guy and I think I'm responsible for like 30 views by now.
This music is ancient, it's universal, and people around the globe where ever they from will understand the zone of this music, the meditative state.
This is classical African music; no written down notes but what the soul spontaneously feels while maintaining the rythm constant.

Such beautiful sounds. Music is the true international language and it should remind us of the potential and incredible talent that human beings possess. I spent some years in Africa (Nigeria) as a child and long to go back someday before I die. It has always had a presence in my home, even today as I grow older here in the US.

I have been playing for Kora for 4 years now as an American .. learning the traditional and also making my own music .. especially hopping on it and just Improvising myself into a deep meditation that equals sleep. But I know I will never reach this potential 😂 I hope when I’m old and about 20-30 years from now I can create something almost this beautiful. ❤❤❤

I was lucky enough to have lived in a couple of countries in Africa and I am infatuated with the different music styles you get to hear from different corners of the continent.
