NASA says astronauts stuck in space until 2025 will return on SpaceX capsule - not Boeing Starliner

- Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, the two astronauts stuck in space, will have to stay on the International Space Station (ISS) until next February.
NASA says the pair will return on a SpaceX craft, rather than the Boeing Starliner that took them into space, because of a faulty propulsion system that is just too risky.
As Jayme Doll reports, what was meant to be an eight-day trip is turning into an eight-month misadventure.

How could anyone have any trust or faith in Boeing at this point? Wow....just wow!
Easily. More easily than you can imagine lol. They'll use their money and power within government to force the media to tell people to trust them, and tell the same people that anyone who doesn't trust Boeing is a right wing conspiracy theorist. People will comply, and be insulting anti-Boeing people in no time. It's already started lol.
But... But... But.. Boeing is DEI compliant..
Boeing is not for space 😂

NASA gave contracts to both Boeing and space X in 2014. Boeing was 2.4b and x 1.6b. Space x has successfully completed 14 missions. Boeing has done 0 missions as this one didn’t even make its first. Boeing is not even on the same playing field.
At this point space x will be getting all the contracts

Yes. That is true. That was one of options but apparently they do not want to ask Russia. They did the same with covid vaccine which Russia was suggesting. Instead, people were dying for the whole year waiting for infamous Phazer to come. It is exactly the same situation.
Why did NASA and Boeing skip the unmanned flight test?
This wouldn't have been a problem if they weren't completely incompetent.
They didn’t… they did TWO uncrewed flights before this crewed demo flight. Why do people talk with such confidence when they know absolutely nothing about the topic at hand?
@@bensemusx They didn't make a truly successful uncrewed flight before launch a manned flight----I mean a flawless flight which proves that the spacecraft meets the criterion of a manned flight by any common sense. The first Orbital Flight Test has some software problems which "could have led to the destruction of the spacecraft". The OFT-2 had the same problem like this manned one----reaction control thruster failure. That these two testing spacecrafts came back and landed "successfully" on earth doesn't mean it is safe for a crewed flight. A Boeing 737 can take off and land with only one of its 2 engines working, but should passengers be allowed abording this plane before the defective engine got fixed?

I'd love to hear how Astronauts Williams and Wilmore feel about this, privately - like, how many f-bombs did they excrete? They're 58 & 61yrs old respectively - obviously in top shape, but this HAS to be hard on their bodies - I won't pretend to know anything other than the basics - but isn't it really bad for your bones & eyes? Professionals, brave, brilliant, the best of us - but they have no real privacy from each other. Wilmore's wife Deanna, Williams' husband Michael - finding out they'll be missing Christmas...

Shame on boeing, the ceo should be fired, all in charge need to be fired, to just leave them there for 8 extra months wow usa is shameful on many levels
Boeing is doing a new TV show, lost in near space. If its Boeing I'm staying at home.
I remember they said they landed people on the moon 60 some years ago and brought them back like 6,7 times....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
they still say that, because it happened. nasa has over double their current budget in adjusted dollars back then, not to mention they weren't simultaneously managing a dozen or so probes across the solar system
Hahaha right!! I laugh at the ones that still believe that. It should’ve been a norm to do that now like eating breakfast 😂
Actually there are 12 Apollo missions moon.
What makes it believable is NOT A SINGLE MISSION WAS BOEING INVOLVED😂😂😂
Safety + Boeing hmmmm
Why not just get a Soyuz capsule up there and bring them home.
Its pretty silly alright but no cooperation is the rule these days it would make me laugh if they defected to russia.
No need. The issue isn’t a lack of capsules. It’s just easiest to make them part of Crew-9. Dragon Crew-9 was going to bring up four astronauts to replace Crew-8. Now it’s going to bring up two astronauts and the Starliner astronauts will be the other two. Then they all come home in February when Crew-9 is replaced by Crew-10.
What is the key issue. No vehicle available to transport?
What are we using anything manufactured by Boeing ?????
What are the health issues for being so long in space??????????
A regular rotation on the ISS is 6 months. Multiple astronauts have been up for over a year. It’s nothing crazy or unknown.
how people still believe this nonsense
What nonsense are we believing go on enlighten me
This guy stucked with that woman in space.
Starliner will not land safely. Wise choice.
Houston, we have a problem...we can't get off the ground
Why are these astronauts never on TV?
Because they are scientists?
Because they'd be caught faking immediately all the masses if they are front and center stage for the world... even more then they already do.
Easy to control the narrative with small edited non-live clips
@Orangejuicer297 then why do they call them astronauts? And why are the not on TV?
oh so they want the astronauts to die?
As of August 2024, there are ongoing concerns in the aviation industry regarding the safety of Boeing airplanes. Key areas of focus include:
1. 737 MAX: Following two fatal crashes, Boeing made significant changes to the 737 MAX's software and training protocols. The aircraft has since been recertified and returned to service, but scrutiny remains high.
2. 787 Dreamliner: Issues related to the Dreamliner's production have raised concerns about the quality of components and manufacturing processes. Boeing has addressed these through inspections and improvements.
3. 777X: The new 777X has faced delays and scrutiny over its development and certification processes, with ongoing evaluations to ensure it meets safety standards.
Additionally, recent concerns have emerged at NASA regarding spacecraft safety:
1. Helium leaks
2. Engine malfunctions
3. The spacecraft has been deemed unsafe, and astronauts on a recent 7-day mission are currently stranded on the International Space Station until February 2025!
Given these issues, some might prefer alternatives such as Airbus or SpaceX for their travel needs.

It was a demo flight for Starliner. Dragon had one years ago. It wasn’t a regular 6 month crew mission. However the capsule had multiple issues. NASA isn’t confident in the safety of the capsule now so the astronauts can’t come back in the Boeing capsule. Instead they will become part of Crew-9 and return with the Crew-9 Dragon capsule in February when its rotation is done.
