This whole case makes me physically ill … how could neighbors ever ever know something like that was going on and not say a damn thing! Imagine if that was your child. This is horrendous, so sad for the poor boy Sanford. I have so much empathy and sadness for this case. Also so insane how unhelpful the cops were for these cases ! Like they really put the mother in an insane asylum for knowing that wasn’t her son. And I honestly feel horrible for that boy pretending to be the son he just wanted a nice home with nice parents. 😭 my heart is just breaking during this whole case !
christ almighty... listening to what Stanford went through has made me physically ill as it reminded me of something similar to what I went through when I was 13 but never to that extent. He went through that for so long? Knowing he's in the middle of nowhere, no help, no one to hear his cries and screams. I hope he made it out alive and received love, support, and therapy... it's the least he can receive after going through that.
Stanford went onto marry. They adopted two boys. He was a lovely husband and father. His son collaborated with an author to write Sanford's story after he died. It's called "Nothing is strange with you". Shocking and disturbing book.
@@rosiebottom3870 this makes me happy. Good for him for at least making a life for himself and not get lost in the trauma. Even though I am sure he had a ton of that to deal with.

Although Stanford did go on to adulthood, he was terrified of passing down genetically the horribly wicked behaviour his relatives possessed. That is why he adopted two children.

@@tellmeofyourhomeworldusul6060 Yes so shocking that it was a true story. I always remember the last scene when she walks away and the voice over says that she never stopped looking for her son, utterly heart breaking.
This makes me so angry that the police were accusing the mother about lying. Like it’s her son, how would she not know when something was wrong and that was not her son?
The fact that the neighbors knew infuriated me! They could have saved so many peoples lives and gotten these boys help. If you know people are being abused, it becomes your business! You need to try to get them help, and these neighbors are terrible for not doing anything. I just know this case would be so much different if they spoke to police when they first noticed abuse and the underage boys being taken to the farm.
Seems to happen pretty commonly in America even nowadays ( this thing if neighbors thinking that it’s none of their bauinesss what others people do ) , in other counties where people habe much stronger relationships with the neighborhood it would be impossible to hide stuff like that
Sometimes it is quite difficult because you don't know the whole story of what's going on and, unfortunately, good systems aren't in place to help. There's a grown boy here, for example, who probably has the mentality of a four year old or something. He's left out to walk around by himself all the time. His family is a complete mess. It's definitely not a good situation for him, but what do you do? If you call CPS or something, the services there often have notoriously bad results. Mental health care is crap. Our police are fairly lazy. The reality is that it's highly unlikely he'd end up in a better situation and he might end up in a worse situation. Which leaves people stuck sometimes. Now, if I KNEW someone next door was raping kids or something, I'd 100% call the police on them. But if you hear yelling next door, which happens all the time, most people probably don't bother because they aren't sure what's happening, and people yell and scream all the time. It's sad that he tried so hard to get out of going. I can't imagine sending my kid off like that and... just not seeing him again? I'd be uncomfortable with my kid out of my sight for a day, much less sending him away with no way to get help. Thankfully his sister seemed to give a damn.
Angelina Jolie starred in a really great movie about this called The Changeling. She did such an amazing job, and it’s such a great but also very sad movie, one of my favourites! It really encompasses this whole case from Walter’s mother’s perspective.
haha yeah as soon as I heard that multiple children were abducted,, then she got sent to mental asylum and then boys were abused on a farm I started to look through comments to find one like this
@Dodge Morningstar but they are... They're supposed to lead investigations and permiss detectives to help with the case. It was entirely on them. They SHOULD have gathered all evidence to support all claims. It's their job
I mean I wouldn’t say she was “smart” she just knew it wasn’t her kid lol that’s not hard. The police knew he wasn’t also they just tried to play it off. Smarts had nothing to do with it
But the emotional torment the real mother went through am sorry but something was seriously off with him he saw Walter's real mom in agony being gaslighted his not a genius but a criminal.

fun fact Arthur actually revealed that he wanted to go to california to meet his favourite hollywood actor, and that’s also part of the reason why he pretended to be Walter
So first, Sanford's mother send him to the farm against his will And then never visited her son in 2.5 years? It just angers me how ignorant parents can be! 😑
parents used to be a lot more trusting back in the day. it’s like how people used to leave their front doors unlocked- they never expected truly awful things to happen until they did. thankfully most people know how best to keep their families safe now though
It was the 1920s, and the boy was in different country entirely. He even updated her regularly with letters! And here’s the kicker, he was in the care of her brother, his uncle. I’m sure she didn’t worry too much about him, because(on the surface) she had no reason to. Maybe if times were different she might’ve been more concerned but there are parents who are fooled even in modern times when their children are kept in bad conditions.
Please link this to part two, the video names aren’t similar so it’s hard to track your two parters to work out what is linked. I think this is why a lot of people seem to get anoyed at two parters.
I live in the same city that this occurred. I drive by this house everyday...yes it is still standing to this day. My kids are fascinated by it. The name of the city has been changed several times so that we are not associated with the murders. Most recently our city was re named Jurupa Valley. I still can’t believe anyone would want to live in that house. Super creepy!!! Can’t wait for part 2.

I feel like it’s a case that more people should be aware of and the message it holds is so important. thank you for your time :)
This case is heart breaking. I watched a documentary on it and have knew about the case for years and it still breaks my heart every time. Coronation street have done a story line based on this case to get it out to the public to help share her story. Her mother helped the producers and writers every step of the way.
I really really hope Sanford was able to go on and have a somewhat normal or happy life. I’m not sure what ended up happening to him but I’m really hoping it’s positive. 😞😞
He got married and adopted two sons. He was afraid to have his own due to the family defects. Read his story. His mom and other members weren't all there
Fortunately, he got a wife and adopted two children. Unfortunately, due to the sexual abuse he suffered he never walked normal again. He also blamed himself for all the shit he and those poor boys went through. On Sanford’s death bed, his son said “I love you, Dad” and Sanford’s last words were “why would you?”

There was actually a bio of Sanford Clark written (believe the title is “The road out of hell”) - it’s pretty brutal but gives allot of information about his situation and Northcott’s motives/thoughts/whatever… worth reading if you are interested in this

No one bothers me, I can have my downtime to learn and it’s something I am truly enjoying.
I remember when I was about 10 years old we were on a holiday, my sister thought that I was asleep and watched the movie besides me. I was always into Horror and True Crime stuff so I watched the movie without her knowing. I couldn’t sleep that night and at one point I closed my eyes bc I just couldn’t watch it anymore. I only remember a scene where a man gives a little boy an axe and tells him to cut another little boys head off and that scene fucked me up. I never watched it since then, so I could totally remember it wrong as I was just 10 years old and my brain probably was too shook to remember correctly🤷🏼♀️ I didn’t know that it was based on a true story and found out when I was about 15 years old. The part that scares me the most is that I was never a girl who got scared easy, I watched way scarier movies when I was only 8 but I can’t bring myself to watch it again, even now that I’m 23 years old. I guess what I wanted to say with this whole book I just wrote, this case is probably the one that will haunt me the rest of my life, my heart just hurts so much for all the little kids as well as all the parents going through what I wouldn’t even wish on my worst enemy😔💔
After watching “The Changeling” and reading about this story, I actually looked over my 4 boys for specific traits on them that I could use to tell the difference between them and a look alike (I suffered bad postpartum depression and this story popped up in my head a lot) Each one of my kids have something specific that I look at almost every day so that I would always remember it, from birth marks to specific identifying beauty marks, even in very “odd” places. To say this story had an effect even 100 years later is an understatement.
i absolutely love how Eleanor gives a TW at the beginning of each episode, as a lot of youtubers jump straight into the case w/o giving a warning for those who may be sensitive to those sort of topics.

This is one of the saddest & creepiest cases I’ve ever read about. The worst part is Christine never really got to know what happened to Walter. If you want a good adaptation of the case & specifically Christine’s ordeal, watch “Changeling” but be warned it gets tough to watch
i absolutely adore that you put trigger warnings on your videos and give people a warning of things that could be possibly upsetting and then say “just click out i’m sure i’ll see you soon” it’s so genuine and pure ♥️
Aww guys my heart just broke the more Eleanor told this story. It started out so well. I don’t know why I had high hope this one would go different. Eleanor is such a good storyteller she conveys it so well

When you said the police were like “we’re literally right” I almost spit out my coffee, I was laughing so hard.
Seems to happen pretty commonly in America even nowadays ( this thing if neighbors thinking that it’s none of their bauinesss what others people do ) , in other counties where people habe much stronger relationships with the neighborhood it would be impossible to hide stuff like that
@@salvolondon yeah I agree with that. It’s so sad how people don’t care about others especially when they know something is going on.

@@bonniestull2222 yeah, but sadly many people still treat others like this
Sometimes it is quite difficult because you don't know the whole story of what's going on and, unfortunately, good systems aren't in place to help.

Cops r lazy, back then & still today. This was a hundred years ago & children r still abducted & trafficked. I'm pretty sure if we made this issue a priority, we could lower the numbers immensely. We have not evolved all that much, it's embarrassing.
FINALLYYYYY I BEEN COMING HERE EVERYDAY FOR THE LAST 4 DAYSSSS
I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME
I honestly watch so much true crime that by the time the second part comes out I have no idea what she said in the first one. 🤦🏽♀️ I usually try not to watch until the second one comes out... but here I am...
Same 😆 felt like ages since a good proper case was out. So had to listen
Same mate, previous 2 parters I've clicked the first vid when its uploaded then hear it said that it's gonna be a 2 parter then I click off and wait for the 2nd part to come out before watching both back to back
@@Chloe299XxX I somewhat recently found a fairly good podcast type true crime series here on TH-cam if you're interested? Majority of the videos are an hour or longer and are VERY detailed.
@@licietheskeleton What is it? I have been watching all the That Chapter videos over but they are kinda short.
@@krissyfranklin6917 it's called "Human Monsters", which I find is quite a fitting name. The longest video is 5+ hours and a good number are around 2 or 3 hours. I can send a link to the playlist if you'd like?
"Changeling' starring Angelina Jolie was based on Christine Collins and Walter Collins. It is such a heartbreaking movie
Eleanor needs her own Netflix show 🥰

I was so excited to see this!!!
I’m from Jurupa Valley/Mira Loma California and it used to be called Wineville. I’ve driven on that street a million times and it’s astonishing how many locals have no idea that this happened!
I’m from here too & always wanted to know more about this story. 🥺
Me: I'm gonna do twice the amount of homework so I can catch up.
Eleanor: Suh today's videuh is........
Me: Never mind.
This is brilliant 😂
I’m happy to know I’m not the only one 😂
