My fellow Nigerian sis! Thank you for posting this video, it came at the right time. I am definitely stressed over which MPH program to choose, so I’m about to binge watch some more of your videos because you are providing me with valuable information. Thank you🤍
@@kyyahabdul hello sis, I am a Nigerian and am happy to have come across this video. Am majoring in community and public health and am in my sophomore year now. I wish to also pursue MPH after my BSC but not sure of the concentration I'll b focusing on.
I'm planning on starting my MPH program in Fall 2021, but I still haven't decided on what my concentration should be yet. I really appreciate you for making this video!
Great video! I found your content and have been watching all morning. I'm considering a MPH at either CSULB or CDU. I loved the urban health disparities focus at CDU even before the pandemic. It just took a pandemic for me to finally consider doing something about it. Thanks for your content!
Thank you for this awesome advice! Currently looking into an mph. I want to do research and ultimately a PhD in health psychology. And more research. Also, that food looks delicious!!
Thank you so much ma'am. This video is an answer to my prayer. I just finished NYSC thinking of what to study in my masters. I've been asking questions from people who just want to have masters for its sake, but I don't want that, I want to be intentional with what I study. Thank you so much.
What about accreditation? WASC vs. CEPH. What do employers prefer? I am seeking an MPH with an emphasis epidemiology. I currently work as a medical assistant. Should I seek employment in clinical research or data entry?
I signed in JUST to comment. I despise "group" work because it is NOT group work. I luckily have found someone who started a term before me... we are signing up for the same classes for the rest of the program. We work well together. BUT our other group member, WHERE ARE YOUUUU????? Choosing your MPH concentration is imperative. PERIOD. The market is too saturated in Texas and I can't even find something out of state. SAD. SO, school is my 40-hour job.
Your videos are amazing.... I'm currently in 200 level Biochemistry in Nigeria but I would love to do my Masters in Public Health because I feel like as it is next to my passion of nursing..
@@kyyahabdul I’m applying this fall to Mph I love infectious disease but worried about biostats so I might do community health thank you for all your tips!!!! 🥺🙏🏽
@@kyyahabdul yes I did well on both but it was soooo stressful I can’t imagine running numbers for a living so I’m scared I love the infectious disease part but not the numbers so 🥲 I’m scared lol
I have 23 years in mental health working with ICF/IDD juvenile male individuals. I want to pursue MPH degree because I want to do research for health disparities in black impoverished neighborhoods. I don't know exactly how I'm going to accomplish this, but as of now, but I am doing research on available programs in the capital city of my state and other metropolitan areas
How was the work load compared to your bachelors degree? I’m starting my MPH with the concentration of Epidemiology and I overthink a lot so I was curious about the work load?
I love your videos!!! I am so glad I came across your channel. I am about to start my BS in Health Administration and was thinking of an MHA or even a dual program MHA/MPHA in the future but I'm superrrrr interested in urban health disparities as well and you have been inspiring me. My question to you is if I did an MPH after I'm done with undergrad would I still have the pathway to be an administrator available to me or would it be more of a focus on public health jobs?
Hi, I AM JEV still an undergraduate in biochemistry and would love to move into public health for masters but not in Nigeria so as to get better opportunities in terms of recognition, experience and job. Can you mention some really good schools who offer scholarly even though my grades aren't really impressive.
I have a MPH in public health practice and can say with a great deal of certainty that I was successful in the program because when it came to group work, I stayed away from classmates that don't like or do well in groups. These people are easy to spot and try as they might, can't cover the stench of individualism. I served in the military where individualist get themselves and others killed. In grad school I was part of a cohort that studied together and we all graduated with >3.9 gpa.
@@kyyahabdul I wouldn't say that individualist don't care. I think group work is more of the case of things you pointed out in your video such as synergism, diversity of thought, and replication of public health as a collaborative enterprise.
@@kyyahabdul Understood. As a colleague, keep educating, advising, and empowering. I have the deepest respect and admiration for my public health colleagues (you). I work in tobacco control policy and practice and will pop in on you from time-to-time :)
I'm trying to decide whether to pursue an online MPH program, but I don't know if it's better to choose Community health, generalist or PHP? Have a nice day.
Hello, I'm considering doing my masters in public health and you've said that working is a really good idea. I'm an international student from Nigeria, and I know that we are not allowed to work while in school. What do you suggest I do?
Hello, Ma'am thank you for such insightful video. I am Sumit from BHARAT (India). I have done my graduation in Biotechnology and Now I am interested in Healthcare. I am confused between Masters in Public Health & MBA in Hospital Administration. Can you please help me to clear my confusion in choosing course?
Question: what should you prioritize though? For example, I’m looking at an MPH in Public Health Nutrition and an MS degree in Nutrition Science and Policy. Both seem fairly similar, but I’ve been wondering about how applicable an MS may be if I chose to pursue a role in public health, rather than the other way around. But aside from the curriculum, how much should we prioritize things like resources, professor-led research projects, etc
I have 3.5 yrs of experience in regulatory and startup studies in clinical trial for EMEA country(working remotely from india)and hence I am planning to to an MPH . May I ask you to guide or suggest me in which MPH course shall I roll in to be very precise. Also I am weak in maths, so will it be a good call if wish to choose for epidemiology. Thank you
