The AMAZING SPIDERMAN for example has costed 130 Million USD
And the DUNE costed even more
Basically the story is based on Hindu Mythology.... Like there is a GOD called VISHNU who comes to earth in the form of AVATAR's in the form of HUMAN but is stronger and intelligent than normal human
this KALKI is the last avatar of him and at that age everything will be ended and then the civilization will begin from 0 BC
So it is like a life cycle that this would happen (which is written in HINDU's Holy Book) so this movie is based on that and there are sci-fi elements that have been added and there might be an ALIEN's too in this movie....
Also this movie has history of what happened before at the time of MAHABHARAT (MAHABAHARAT can also be considered as Indian GAME OF THRONES) Yeah so the characters from that period of MAHABHARAT have story of an open ending, so those characters will be appeared in this movie as well...\
In this trailer the main girl that is pregnant is carrying the KALKI
and the main hero of this movie is PRABHAS who is in an advanced kind of suit and that character has Grey shades, Humour, selfishness, etc...
and then the old guy is played by a living legend of INDIAN Cinema AMITABH BACHCHAN who is playing a character called ASSHWATTHAMA who was cursed by KRISHNA, 9th AVATAR of VISHNU and will be granted death at the time of 10th avatar appears.... He is like a immortal because of that curse....
So he will be protecting pregnant woman... but our main grey shaded hero is a bounty hunter so he want money or units in that period to get into complex... complex is a place where all the luxury is available, even water, fresh oxygen.... so it is a microcosm of what the world used to be.....
Soo eventually maybe the main guy PRABHAS (BHAIRAVA) will turn into a good guy
thats the summary.... we have to watch the movie to know the whole story line
BTW this KALKI is a cinematic universe and this movie is the first chapter of that universe

I mean, I've seen some movies from India where directors take a clear and direct inspiration from a foreign movie and make a similar Indian movie. Like Rocky Handsome was inspired by some Korean movie, etc. But this movie is rather original in its conception. The creator of this story managed to ground it in events from Indian history, mythology that are over 5000 years old and then extend those upto 2898 AD, another 1000 years from now. A lot of original ideas and efforts went into this. Even the car shown there is something they sat down with Indian automobile giants and actually created that car. They could have just done a CGI, but no, they actually designed and built that car.
My only gripe is that the music for a film of such level should have been MUCH better than this. So many other Indian movies have stellar score but are nowhere near this film in terms of originality and . In my opinion, soundtrack is a major part of what makes a movie/show great. Look at Vinland Saga or Attack on Titan or The Expanse. The soundtracks of those shows elevate the show to another level.

Among the characters intertwined with this lore is an old man with a gem embedded in his forehead-Ashwatthama. A tragic figure from the epic Mahabharata, Ashwatthama was on the losing side of the great war. Consumed by grief and vengeance after his father's death, he unleashed the Brahmastra, the deadliest weapon a human could wield, targeting the unborn child of the demigod warrior Arjuna.
This act of malice enraged Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu, who cursed Ashwatthama with immortality and an unhealing, festering wound on his forehead. Thus, Ashwatthama is condemned to wander the earth, growing old yet unable to die, burdened by his eternal affliction.
Now, 6000 years later, Ashwatthama's path to redemption is intertwined with a crucial mission: to protect the unborn Kalki. His journey is fraught with challenges as he seeks to atone for his past sins and play a pivotal role in the prophesied restoration of balance.
A mysterious figure with long hair appears in the tale, possibly an avatar of Shiva, the god of destruction. Shiva, known for his cosmic dance of destruction, possesses the power to obliterate the universe without wielding a weapon. His presence signifies a profound and formidable force that could either aid or obstruct the unfolding events.
The legend of Ashwatthama and the prophecy of Kalki form a compelling saga of redemption, duty, and the eternal struggle between good and evil, deeply embedded in the rich tapestry of Hindu mythology.
