The real question: how much canned air was used to get the dust off this beauty? Thanks for reviewing a case that should be considered to set the bar, albeit high.
This is the case that I'm using right now. I've had it new since 2012. Its a fantastic case. The large fans are super quiet and the design is awesome. That side fan is a God send for cooling sli cards. I was rockin tri sli 680s there for a few years and now 1080 sli. Its tall. Its big. Its roomy. Its great. I also have a water cooling setup with a 360 radiator along the top. The filters are excellent. Maybe once every 6 months it gets a serious blow out just for giggles. About that front removable filter. I just soak it in hot soapy water without pulling it apart. Then reverse flush warm water through it and hair dryer it dry. I use the stock fans on the front and the side. I moved the fan from the top and made a bracket and have it above the side fan so over the CPU and VRM sinks. I still have the stock rear fan in place and have 3x 120mm on the radiator at the top. Ive set the speed in the bios to have positive pressure. I found with negative pressure dust was coming in from the gaps instead of being filtered. Great review as always mate.
I am too, but I had to rip out the lower disks cage (which is definitely not removable!) to be able to fit in an MSI 4080. Ripping out involved drilling out in the rivets holding it out, and definitely had to use force and creativity.
I found one of these at a garage sale 5 years ago for $130, complete with an i7 2700k and 32gb of ram. Pop in another video card, and I'm still rocking it to this day. Best garage sale I ever went to.
Im never replacing it ,i only decided to switch stock fans for coolermaster holos and put in some rgb strips so it looks nice with the red watercooling tubes.
I STILL want this case for a big ass server/workstation/NAS build. Most of the features in this case are still very useful depending on your needs, and hard to find in modern cases. "Excessive bays" can be "ideal amount of bays" that literally no other useful case will give.
Your post is in line with what I was thinking ever since I saw one of these. All those lovely drive bays... and cooling! Replacing the fans is likely to be a bit of a pain, ;(.
its not a real pc with no front drives....industry heads are the ones pushing this not consumers...they do not want us to have storage thats not connected to the web....cant steal the data off a cd in a drawer.
@@numb3r663 Must be that tinfoil hat preventing your memory to work, but ever heard of 3.5 drives? That's what people want...Fast storage. Who needs idiotic HDD bays anymore, if you can have board mounted NVME storage. For long term storage of useless crap just use external drive. No need your case to be the size of a fridge because you want to use ancient tech.
I'm building an open loop Ryzen 1800x system in a HAF x right now. I've finished building a "basement" that will house the PSU, pump, and two rads. I'll also have a rad in the ceiling. LOVE this case!
I have the 932. I took a piece of black plexiglass and bent it with a heat gun to make a PSU shroud, then a big piece of transparent plexi as a new sidepanel. If I could shove USB 3.1 into the top UDB area I would be golden.
What kind of rad have you? I have an HAF 912+, but I had to externally mount a 60 mm thick radiator on top of it, with fans inside the case. Definitely function over form. I love the style, I use it for movies so I need those drive, I cannot "up"grade the case. Except maybe for the HAF X... The only other case for me would be an Origin PC case, which they don't sell separately.
ThunderGoatz For me because none of them allow optical drives. I use 2 of them fo movies, occasionally ripping music and 2 of them are occupied by a pump+reservoir combo. I could live with only 3 bays, but 1 is the bare minimum although I should replace the reservoir (I love that look).
ThunderGoatz solid front panel. My HAF 912+ has a 200 mm fan AND 4 5,25" bay. The Define R6, being developed for silence, needs 3 120 mm fans and I'm not sure the hairflow is better because the front is a solid panel and breath from the side. I mean, I'd better stay with what I have.
I have the HAF 932 running as my second build since 2007/8. It is still a great performer with unbeatable GPU cooling and 360mm radiator support. It was really ahead of its time.
I bought my Haf X in 2014 and am still using it today, I plan on doing a Ryzen Zen 3 build in it this year. I absolutely love this case and plan on using it for many years to come.
It was so terifficly good that after buying my own, which i will never replace on my main pc, i gifted one to my father for christmass, wich he also will never replace. Even modern high end stuff like the C700P and the Meshify 2 XL lack simple yet important features, wich i have not only come to appreciate in the HAF-X but i also want from any case and couldn't imagine not having. It starts at the wheels that make life indescribably easier every single time i take the pc out for cleaning or upgrading. It continues over the so many hard drive cages that i had never to stop for a second and think before buying more drives. I have 4 SSDs installed permanently plus the HAF-X has 2 hotswap drive slots beneath the 4 optical drive bays, that come in extremely handy for my external backup HDDs. Speaking of the optical drive bays i have a touch screen fan controller on the top slot, which makes it look even more like an 80s toy robot, and in the second slot a dvd drive for all my old games, and i could even mount simultaniously a drive bay reservoir if i was doing watercooling in it. It ends with the overall size and ease of use. Things like having a ton of space to build in easily, or having front filters that are easy to remove and put back in for regular cleaning and having no compatibility issues with virtually any motherboard or cooler. And all of this is still before we start talking about the 230mm front intake, 200mm side intake, 2x 200mm top exhaust and 140mm rear exhaust fans, wich i have always at the lowest setting, making the pc very quiet and still never getting really hot under any load while gaming. Essentually it's the top end. I don't know if there was anything more practical with more usefull features than this in the past, but this one case comes close to perfection in almost every single possible way. The only 2 downsides that i have experienced with this case is front io being part of the top panel, making it a bit difficult to open the top for cleaning and demanding more attention to not strip the cables and the holes of the side panels not aligning perfectly, so i have to keep pressure on the sides to screw in the thumb screws. Frankly there is no other case on the market that comes even close to the quality of life features that the HAF-X has. It's by far the best case that i had ever the pleasure to build a pc in and i highly doubt that there will be another one of these fully performance, building and maintainance focused cases out there. It's simple things that case manufacturers are afraid of doing nowadays, especially in such a good combination and i don't understand why there is not even one single case like this on the market today.
That sliding cover was the reason I originally purchased the case. I had a nephew that was around 1 that thought it was just the funniest thing in the world to hit the power/rest buttons on my PC.
Lol! i once had my case window open on my old s340 NZXT case and my cat jumped on my gtx 1070 xD. pc still works fine tho, had a few times that my cat pressed the off button on my pc... recently i bought a new case, the meshify c, and now my cat is stuck with his nails in the front mesh..... my cat is retarded.
Still rocking this case, bought it in 2013, when built my first PC. Now changed almost everything inside, but case and PSU (DQ1000) I will never change. Yes, it's bulky, weights a ton (full build is around 25kg), but the airflow and noise level beats almost everything that our market has to offer for adequate price. And yes, it has bottom dust filter.
It is so bad, I hope they will start to pay attention to airflow again, be quiet seems to get it. Phantek evolv x looks interesting and can`t wait to see the review. In fact it is the only case i would consider. I have to mention Thermaltake View 31 i bought it for my 3th gen pc, and i was suprised with amount of airflow i `m getting from the front with 200 mm fan.
I bought this case 8 years ago, and next to the harddrive it is the only 'part' i still use of that build. It currently holds a i7-7700K with Noctua NH-D15(2-Fan Setup) and a GTX 1080 8GB(Aorus 11gpbs). Because of the large width of this GPU i had to remove the shroud attached to the side-panel for it to fit, and the GPU bracket itself i never used. Over the years i have only had to replace 1 case fan(back one) which was easy to do. This case started out with a SLI setup(2x GTX 460 2GB) and was perfectly able to cool both GPU's well enough so that the top card went no higher then 80 C. If you are quickly annoyed by loud fans and plan to have this case in close proximity during quiet times, i would recommend having either a fan controller or similar functionality on your motherboard. Since i removed the side-panel shroud and changed the orientation of my CPU Cooler by 90 degrees, the air now flows vertically from bottom to top instead of front to back. The airflow seems substantially better and i can get away with literally having only a single case fan(Side panel fan) switched on and still have good enough temperatures during heavy load for the GPU boost to kick in. As a bonus it also really cut down on the amount of dust the case accumulates, and since i don't have the wheels attached dust does not enter through the bottom either. Would buy it again:)
Still using this beauty. Almost 7 yrs and still love it. Never used the LED. Kept everything cool and dust was never was really a problem. It still isn't. My next case is the Enthoo Luke. Hopefully it is half as good as the HAF X.
This vid reminded me of my original Cooler Master Stacker, very early production (serial #101) that had to come from Cooler Master direct in 2004. It was an ATX/BTX case that changes were made before it went into full production, so it is a very rare bird. "Cable management" wasn't a thing, and it was one of the very first cases available with an optional acrylic side panel, dual power supply mounting (bottom, it what?) and the entire front was made of 11 5 1/4" bays you used cages and adapters for. It still is in use as a NAS/PLEX server, although it's seen extensive mods for what was then early high-end water cooling.
I was wondering if somebody else would mention it. I still run my current system in a well kept ST-101 (I did manage to destroy one row of its USB connectors at the front :( ) and with every new upgrade I go on a lookout to try to find something better and after a few days of researching I settle on - thoroughly cleaning it and reusing it for my new build. I'll be upgrading my PC by the end of the year and so far it seems that it will be reincarnated for another cycle. Not many cases will live to be 15 years in service.
Still using my HAF 912. Not a big fan of its looks anymore, but every time I go to buy a new case I just can't justify throwing away how effective it is even with the 2x200mms+140mm+120mm running on silent. It's the perfect size for all of the hardware in it, absolutely no space is wasted sans the 5.25 drive bays.
Still use my HAF X in 2020, mine's got bottom filter, those swappable HDD slots are amazing and with castors you just roll case to one side to hoover underneath ! With X58 triple channel ram mobo and overclocked cheap 6 core 12 thread Xeon X5680 still is a good workhorse/ gaming machine - not bad for 10 yr old PC.
same here, HAF 932 in 2008 or so.... just replaced the 10 yr old fans (3x 230mm 1x140mm) with noctuas (3x200mm 1x140mm) to cool my r5 1600 build. still havent taken the mylar off the little window on the side :P...oh, and i added a front panel for usb3.0, too
I'm a proud owner of this case. Never realized how well it performed compared to the current steel glass RGB cases today until I went into researching new cases to replace my old 2010 work horse.
I bought my HAF X in 2011 and I retired it in 2017. It was configured with front and side intakes and dual top and rear exhausts. The power button cover kept my cats from turning off the computer and a DataVac was essential for how often I had to blow out the dust. lol
I was rocking the HAf 932 Advanced for the longest time. I chose it over the X since it was pretty much the same case, but the 932 had 230mm fans vs the 200's on the X. Though the X had that shroud force feeding the GPU. Lasted through 2 builds (6 years) until I finally upgraded to the H500P Mesh with my 9900k/2080ti build.
Steve - I have the HAF X with a 360 - 60mm thick rad in the roof and a 240 - 60mm thick rad in the bottom - brilliant case for its age, modded side window and full water cooling and will continue to use this great case.
This case was my first PC Build with 2x GTX 570s, after using a prebuilt for about a year and a half. Absolutely love this case, and even had 2 Cold Cathode Light Bars in the case back in the day. I swapped to a HAF XB Lan Box after realizing the case was a fucking pain to lug around to friends houses when I was 16. My dad used it for a handful of years after that, and I just got it back last year for an X570 Build now that I'm not moving my PC as much as I was back then. Pretty sure my step-father threw out my box with all the added accessories; no longer have the gpu support, gpu fan shroud, side fan shroud, hot swap panel / trays, or the caster wheels. I'd pay too much if Cooler Master would sell replacement Accessory kits for this case.. Will eventually become a NAS / Plex server once I go with a new build / case. Forever holds a special place in my heart.
Still loving mine in 2020, Has been home to many of my builds. will be using this for my new build, ryzen9 3900x rtx 3080. As for cleaning once every 6 months I just wheel it outside and give it a good cleaning using my air compressor. No need to remove filters. 5 mins and done. I love the big and rugged style compared to anything out now.
@JonsReef I also keep my 2006 case, it's white, plastic and honestly looks pretty good for the time, a friend of my dads gave it to us (i was born in 2000 btw). My dad cut the side panel and bolted an acrylic side panel on, the 30ish bolts everywhere look too cool. It even has decent airflow after I adjusted things. I had the same PC from 2007 to 2018 when I got an RX 480 second hand and an R5 2600, great mobo and PSU (spent way too much on those). I like the ugliness of it.
I've only just replaced my HAF X, but can't bare to get rid of it, I easily managed to get a 45mm 360 rad in the top as well as a Phobya Xtreme 200mm square rad in the front once the drive cage had been removed. I purchased some more of the hot swap bays from CM to mount the HDDs in the 5.25" drive bays as well as a HAF 932 side panel. It's an absolutely amazing case, both rads I added didn't require the removal of the existing 200 and 230mm fans allowing me to essentially have every radiator in push pull for fantastic temps.
Im still using my Haf-x i did on my first full gaming pc build i did for the battlefield 4 launch. Still rocking the bf4 edition r9 290x, but upgraded from fx8350 to zen7 1700 a few months ago. bf1 ultra 64player hardcore conquest, still getting 80-90fps.
I still have a HAF case downstairs collecting dust. I remember purchasing some magnetic dust filters from a outfit in South Africa. I'll have to post a few pictures on Twitter one of these days.
This was my dream case back in the day; my previous rig used a HAF 932. This morning, next to the dumpster by my house, I found a HAF X. It came from a smoker home, so lots of industrial degreaser and a long, hot shower. I'm transferring my main workstation into it tonight.
My HAF X with i7-930 and SLId GTX 760s is still kickin as a hand-me-down. Three of the casters are broken and only one USB one the front is still in one piece, but it gets the job done.
All the casters went on my HAF after putting in a custom loop. One of the USB ports is also so broken the PC won't actually boot up if the header is plugged in to the mobo
I LOVED my HAF 932 case. That was my first ever gaming PC build. Rocked it with a gtx 285, an i7 and a EVGA 3 way classified motherboard. I went all out on my first build. Loved it. It was such a great learning experience to me and im still addicted and build pc,s still today. Such good memories.
from an era when Cooler Master used to make actually GOOD cases. I've used my HAF922 for 7 years before replacing it with a Corsair 760T last year. I love the HAF series..pure sturdiness.
Sturdiness was one of the reasons why I bought HAF 922 case back in 2010. I was really annoyed with always something breaking with cases; nothing broke with that one and I am still using it today.
I liked my HAF-X SO much I just bought a second one about a month ago. I have combined the drive cage from the first one into the second so I have 4 drive sleds. I have drilled out the bottom drive cage rivets so the front fan has a clear path into the case. I just ordered liquid cooling parts to build a custom loop into this modified HAF-X. I hope to have this one running for many more years to come.
Hello, any chance i get to see pictures of that build? Right now updating my system in my Haf X NVidia Edition i baught 2013 (if im not mistacken) because i love green.
@richard dortch : 10 years, 2 pcs built with these beauties. Now one of them is getting upgraded into : pcpartpicker.com/user/H_FIRE/saved/cg8p8d . I was reading that you managed to port one additional drive cage from one of them to the other and i'm curious how that goes, i already replaced all the fans with noctua fans on mine. Let me know if you can :)
@@richarddortch6122 is this smaller cage what you moved mate? along with the two extra bays? The big one below is riveted in, seems.a bit difficult to extract and put on top in the other case. ibb.co/Dkzf9tC
I guess im the only PC nerd who uses a Case for a decade.. lol Im still using this case today with an overclocked 6700k and a GTX1070 + Vega 56, it keeps everything really cool. I don't have issues with cleaning, I tear it down twice a year and use an air compressor to blow everything out.. The acrylic window is starting to show it's age though. I still see no reason to change this case, and it will likely house my next build, 3-5 years from now.
Nop, you are not the only one. I am still using my HAF (not X version). Fits EVERYTHING i ever need to install, never had to measure anything. Its only real disadvantadge is the dust accumulation if used without filters. Old school? Yes. Awesome case in terms of usable space? Absolutely. Top performance in terms of cooling? Fuck yeah.
@@Blinky05 Bingo same people keep on bitching and moaning about it's airflow, still don't know what they are talking about it is a beast. Only thing I wish it has was a front 3.1 but that is why Amazon (front hub) is for lol. I just like to keep adding to it.
I'm just about to change from a cm stacker 830. Even worse filtration and for some reason holds 9 CD drives (pretty much just bootlegging movies) It also holds 9 120mm fans for no good reason and has surprisingly good water cooling support.
I was still using mine till a few weeks ago. I loved it that i never changed it even when i did a new build back in 2016. Only changed my case now since i wanted a case with a tempered glass window
I've bought this case in 2011 for my first proper PC build and I'm still using it in 2022 for my current configuration (i5 12400F + RTX 3080)! And I'm not planning to change it exactly because if the airflow advantage it has over counterparts. Modern cases with side panels that feature a tempered glass are obviously very good for showcasing (no pun intended) your build, but questionable in terms of GPU cooling efficiency - as noted in the video, you need to do some research to figure out if the cooling is good in a particular product you've set your eyes on. As for the dust filter at the bottom - I have one in my case, have no idea why Steve got the one that doesn't have it. And overall dust accumulation inside the case isn't bad either: all major dust particles are being caught in the filters so the very small dust pieces that managed to leak are very easy to clean with compressed air, blower or something similar. All in all this is a fantastic, very practical case for those who value thermals over aesthetics, like I do, highly recommend it after more than 10 years of using!
Bought it right next week it came to market and still using it in 2023. Best case ever! The only issue is it's very heavy but no place to hold when you have to move it.
My good friend sold me a HAF X case for cheap to use with my first gaming pc build. I thought about upgrading to a newer case but decided against it for two resons. 1. It's one of the best cases ever made in terms of airflow. 2. It has sort of become a "meme" and my signature at LAN gaming nights :D
I for one LOVE the industrial design of these older HAF cases. I currently have an XB Evo cube, and can't see ever trading it off or even removing it from my daily driver lineup in he house. Also, I'm currently looking into getting my hands on the HAF 935+915R ultra tower setup to do a totally over the top TRIPLE loop gaming/ NAS/ LAN hub system. I just can't help myself. My son appears to be following in my footsteps as he adamantly chose the Zalman Z11 Plus as his gaming case.
Probably the best case cooler master has ever made. I’ve been using it since 2011 and will continue to use it because it has amazing airflow and lots of space.
Yup, the HAF X is a great case. Mine is still in use, on 24/7 and with Demcifilter filters everywhere the dust and cleaning really isn't much of an issue. Switching the fans to back/back-top pull and front/side/front-top push i get 43-46° average temperatures under CPU load and about 55° under GPU load. Granted, there are a lot of Noctua fans in there now, but the performance is generally fantastic with minimal noise (roughly 30 dB). Seeing as I also need my blu-ray drive and my BitFenix fan controller (pretty good Linux support on that), I really don't see any need to "upgrade" to a newer case.
Oh man I had this case and switched to the Phanteks Enthoo Pro. I really loved this case because of it's performance and intimidating size, but I wanted something with more modern interior. If they ever make a second version of this case for 2018, I will buy it day one.
I am still rocking Cooler Master HAF 912 Advanced. It also has the bottom dust fine mesh filter. With the side & front intake and top & back exhaust.. multiple hdds and ssds... this thing is a beast. Progressive thinking and design which withstands the time.
That topcover is usefull, especially if you have a vicious cat who silently turns off your rig, by stepping on it, because she didn’t get fed on the right time....
July 2018 and on my 3rd PC build and still using my HAF 932(sibling case to HAF X) I bought new in 2009. I bought some new DECMiflex filters and enjoy reduced dust infiltration.
First time i seen the case. I personally liked those styles of cases, and i still have my cases from 10 years back, as if you buy decent cases, and you do not care about trends, or designs, you can really keep computer cases along time. The only thing i am pleased about todays cases, are they have turned there back on 5.25 inch bays. Like how many people actually put more then at max two 5.25 drives in any case they had. Nice case, and nice to see its in good condition. Like i said, i never saw that case before, but if i did buy it back then, personally i would still be using it today, as i care not about designs, or trends, like all this glass stuff, and lights people like today. When you buy quality it lasts, and for me, if i had brought a case like this back then, i would still be using it.
I have 932 case. Use three 5.25 bays. A bluray burner for ripping dics, a hot swap SATA enclusure, and a high speed USB3.0 / USB C hub device. But yes six bays is too much. Make a new version with at most three bays.
I bought this case back in 2011. Still running the same set up (thus looking to upgrade). This just helped me ensure that I will continue to use this case, just upgrade the inside. Thanks! P.S. The wheels are great for the amount of times I have moved.
Loved the HAF range. Still have both the HAF X (on wheels) and HAF XB EVO cube. In the HAF X, I ran an Asus X99E-WS motherboard with i7-5960X (stable at 4.5GHz), H100i cooler and EVGA 980Ti SC for a couple of years - no problems at all. Then Threadripper came out last autumn. The X99 went into a HAF XB cube - and still performs very well there. Now the HAF X houses a 1950X with Noctua 14" TR4 air cooler in push/pull - stably overclocked to 4.0Ghz on all 16 cores. As well as a ROG Zenith Extreme board and Zotac 1080Ti. If ever you needed a cooling solution for a beast like Threadripper and an overclocked 1080Ti, the HAF X gave you that in spades. Yes - it has flaws, by modern case standards. But in these days of high-power draw components, I'd go for cooling over RGB bling any day.
Still using this case. 8 years post launch, I could not be happier. It is sentimental to me at this point. I remember buying it because of its at the time good looks and large space.
I recently purchased a HAF 912 and boy oh boy does it deserve that name. I used it for a budget x58 build I am doing, cooling a Xeon x5650 and a 1050ti. With 2 120 intake in the front, 1 140 side intake, and a 200 mm top exhaust (cooler is in top exhaust config) this thing is a cooling beast. Considering how old this case is, it wasn't even that hard to build in and I'm seriously impressed. I wish we took our modern refinements in cases and applied it to HAF designs.
I recently Finished a HAF 932 build. Added a Hardware Labs 480mm on top and a 420mm in front, Aquaero 6 for temp control, and it still has a pair of 230mm fans in front. Great case. Thanks Steve
It's a great case which I'm still using and about to put new hardware in. Bottom dust filter is there. The only problem I have with it is its sheer size and weight (fully packed). My gaming den is upstairs and the stairs are quite narrow and steep, so you can't exactly put it under your arm and carry it up - you have to raise it overhead - which is easier said than done considering how bulky it is :) It's like pushing a cow up a staircase.
I have upgraded my PC to a i9 9900k, RTX 2070 Super, with a Corsair H150i Pro for cooling, but STILL the same HAF X case!! I love this case a lot, never gonna change it!! Previous config was i5 2500k, GTX 670, 8GB Ram, lol, quite a upgrade. PS: Mine has a dust filter on the bottom.
I'm currently working on upgrading my whole system, but until I get everything in I am still using my HAF X. I made this system back when Linus was first reviewing this case. His videos helped me decide on it. I paid WAY TOO MUCH money, $3000, for the parts back then because I didn't know then what I know now, BUT I can still play every game that is currently out. The games wont be on ultra settings, but I can still play them all with no problems at all. To help with even more airflow going above the GPU, I replaced the 3 bays above the 2 hot swap bays with a Cooler Master HDD/SSD cage, I don't think you can find anymore, that I removed the crap glowing fan in it and replaced with a Corsair AF140. I have never had any issues. I have also never had to remove any of the screen filters to clean them. I just remove the front grill by pushing slightly up and it comes off, and NOT RIPPING IT OFF like in the video. Then just use some air on the filter and all other dust spots. I'm pretty bad with only doing it about once a month and my system is still freak'n clean. If the case wasn't so freak'n huge and you were able to add 3 140mm fans in some spots that current models allow, then I'd just hang onto this case and put my new system in it. When the MasterCase series came out, those were the cases that solved the issues I had with the HAF X. Mainly I hate the 2 huge fans on the top and wish it had been designed to take 3 x 140mm fans and a radiator on the top. I also love the metal and paint on the side panels. I'm so use to the HAF X side panels that when I've been looking around at some of the newer cases, they all feel like crap plastic. I don't want to go to crazy and I'm probably going to get the MasterCase MC500P or the MasterCase H500P. I've been leaning towards the MC500P. Also, there are 5 drive cages that can be removed. You showed them when the side was open. Unless he was meaning the whole cages are not modular, then yes, he is correct.
I bought the CM HAF X for my machine because I'm not one for tempered glass or really RGB (even though RGB can look nice just not a priority). I like at least 2 5.25inch bays for my card reader and Blu-Ray drive, I also use up most of the HDD bays in that case too. Also the newer models have a bottom dust filter, and cleaning is as simple as taking a small handheld dust buster vaccume and just sucking the dust off the mesh on the front and side while the machine is off.
i still use a variant of this case today, in 2020 - with the third motherboard installed into it, nearly all fans replaced with RGB and a new white paintjob.
In 2010 I purchased my first decent case...I bought a HAF 932 and like the HAF X it has a style of its own both ugly and beautiful. After 8 years of service in two PC builds its three 230mm fans are finally dying, the side panel fan at the GPU stops multiple times a day, the front red LED fan stops at least once a week. I've pulled the fans and lubricated them but that only worked for maybe a week before they started locking up again. Last summer two of the USB ports on the front panel failed and I had to order a replacement panel from Cooler Master. After 8 years my loved HAF 932 is breaking down and I've ordered a Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 for $125 to replace it that includes a MasterLiquid 240 AIO with the case purchase. I'm sad to see my HAF 932 ending its life but I do plan to keep it and maybe reuse it in a future build if I can replace all three 230mm fans. I'm hoping the Mastercase will provide at least decent air flow but I'll miss the side panel fan cooling my GPU. Cooler Master really needs to think about a new modern HAF line that includes real high air flow again. I do have to admit despite my efforts there is dust buildup on the case exterior that I periodically brush off with a small paintbrush into the vacuum hose...no its not a Dyson. :P
@@nameresu I know I could have replaced the fans but by the time I replaced them I'd be looking at nearly the cost of a new case. Plus as much as I liked the HAF 932 it was a big, heavy and dusty case. A ten year old case lacks a lot of features I expect on modern cases these days so in the end it was really just time for a case upgrade, the failing fans just pushed me to actually do it. I'm happy with my new MasterCase Pro 5 and I'll either use the HAF for someone else's PC build or maybe make it into a NAS machine since it has a lot of 3.5" drive bays.
Ive had this case since 2011 and still going. Demciflex also makes mesh dust filters for this case. I bought one for the 230mm front fan. Also have fan controller and turn off the 2x200mm fans at the top below most of the time which helps with dust. Lastly bought 932 side panel which is just acrylic window instead of the fan on the side panel. Great case for keeping parts cool but its a dust magnet vacuum. Highly recommend tge demciflex filters for those of you who have this case.
I just switched out of my Cooler Master HAF 912, a mid-tower case with not nearly as many bells and whistles but the same styling and design philisophy of all HAF cases. Basic in modern standards but very practical. I moved to a Phanteks Enthoom Pro, a full tower with all metal sides. I like it alot.
Still have mine sitting somewhere collecting dust. Thing is HUGE! I remember when I got it and opened the box, I was just blown away at how big it was.
i still uses my haf x and have no plan on upgrading it and so love the push pull config for water cooling thanks to the 2 200mm fans at the top and i do agree about dust cleaning tho i use a air compressor to clean mine
In 2022 I still love my HAF X. My top fan extracts rather than intakes, which aids flow through. Room for cables behind the motherboard tray could be better. The LED doesn't get used, but is fine if that's your thing. I use a vacuum cleaner for the outside. The internals don't get very dusty. I like that the front facing ports are really at the front, rather than the top. The big fans have stood up very well, though from the beginning (2012) I did add spacers to the side fan mounting screws. I've never used the chunky GPU support bracket. The wheels are necessary - it is one heavy beast, especially with 8 drives, a DVD writer, radiator etc.
Before HAF X, there was an original HAF 932, and it was, an is, better, than X 1. you could have mounted not only 200mm fan on the side, but 4 120mm fans. Gives you a lot of options, like a two 240 radiators on the side/ 2. it had a lot more space above the motherboard, because of the ability to run PSU above or below. Top of the case had the mounts for 140 and 120mm fans, so now you can fit fattiest radiators up top inside the case, and even the 360 one. 3. it even had fan mount at the bottom, you could also put a radiator there. 4. there was no plastic at the exaust at the top, so it had much better airflow. 5. there was a special hole at the top of the case, to fill water tank, that mounted inside 5.25" drive bays. The only downside now that there is no psu shroud (who cares?), and it was simple gray iniside. But gray was fixed in 932 advanced. Used it since 2009 to 2016, changed to NZXT H630, but now I think that HAF932 was better than NZXT. No useless features, just pure performance. 2009 cablemanagement dose not look much different, than today's. yadi.sk/a/Y2imkx5A3YJPYa/5b2e9a760320f1705f0bff2f
I bought the HAF XB in 2012 and am still using it today. It's a great case that's really easy to work in. Might replace it now with my upcoming build... but might not too.

And here I am using my kandalf lcs, for the time had stuff that even today is like New news :).
I would get it... modern cases doesn't support 5,25" bay at all...
All of it.
Still running a HAF 932 case for over a decade, best build decision made. Steel and glass trap heat, vents and fans keep things cool.
Dust isn't really a problem, just blast it out with compressed air, and vacuum the grilles with a soft brush every 12 months.
10 years, and still haven’t found a case to replace it.
exactly
The newer cases might look flashy, but it still is one of the best performers around.
found ? 2022
Im never replacing it ,i only decided to switch stock fans for coolermaster holos and put in some rgb strips so it looks nice with the red watercooling tubes.
same i added noctua fans to replace the old ones
I STILL want this case for a big ass server/workstation/NAS build. Most of the features in this case are still very useful depending on your needs, and hard to find in modern cases. "Excessive bays" can be "ideal amount of bays" that literally no other useful case will give.
Your post is in line with what I was thinking ever since I saw one of these. All those lovely drive bays... and cooling! Replacing the fans is likely to be a bit of a pain, ;(.
dikbozo
And having large and high pressure fans are more fitting when there are a lot of drive bays to go through and cool.
its not a real pc with no front drives....industry heads are the ones pushing this not consumers...they do not want us to have storage thats not connected to the web....cant steal the data off
a cd in a drawer.
This is exactly what I am about to do with this! Turning my mates old HAF into a NAS/Plex server.
I'm actually astounded at how good this case still is.
I'm building an open loop Ryzen 1800x system in a HAF x right now. I've finished building a "basement" that will house the PSU, pump, and two rads. I'll also have a rad in the ceiling. LOVE this case!
Nice!
I had shipping overseas too with system built in.. it was dumb I know.
There was a dust filter on the bottom. I remember cleaning it all the time.
Same here. I think his just came with a missing filter.
yes or this was an early sample for the press, I remember they had a few missing bits. my haf-x also has a bottom filter.
There also was a magnetic filter set sold for it... years later, they look more grayish when I clean them but still do the job.
yeah just cleaned mine today
Correct....
That sliding cover is great for those of us that have kids.
And cats! I had to disconnect the power button on my case.
and frogs !
lol, I've lost some team mates due to a cat jumping on their PC and hitting the power button. lol
Those Linus and Paul throwback videos tho
Douglas m Hey! It's another Douglas M!
im still rocking my haf x in 2019 still :)
chilledgamer1985 same!
Me too, I have installed in it a triple and a double 30 cm thick radiators
Me too now in 2020!!
HAF XM mid tower 2020 for me
yup. i love mine. . literally like an AC
I still own this case. Bought it when it was released. I love all the room.
Same here
Same here. Still love it.
I bought my second one recently still love it,
It is so bad, I hope they will start to pay attention to airflow again, be quiet seems to get it. Phantek evolv x looks interesting and can`t wait to see the review. In fact it is the only case i would consider. I have to mention Thermaltake View 31 i bought it for my 3th gen pc, and i was suprised with amount of airflow i `m getting from the front with 200 mm fan.
same, Bro :)
Same here it's just an excellent case. I can't find a good enough reason to part with it. Temps are fantastic .
I have Haf 932 from year 2008 and i loved that so much i have been upgrading all these years and it has now Ryzen 7 1700x Vega 64 LC inside today
Still use my HAF X in 2020, mine's got bottom filter, those swappable HDD slots are amazing and with castors you just roll case to one side to hoover underneath ! With X58 triple channel ram mobo and overclocked cheap 6 core 12 thread Xeon X5680 still is a good workhorse/ gaming machine - not bad for 10 yr old PC.
aircooled or watercooled?
@@Almarillion Air cooled with a Noctua NH-D15 which keeps the Xeon nice and cool.
@@markteeee I am still use HAF 932)))
This case also had a GPU support bracket keeping those heavy video card from sagging.
Which is useless today because it doesn't fit the most of modern GPU coolers, I tried to secure mu Strix 1080 Ti card and it doesn't work.
@jonny j Interesting, I couldn't got it to fit my r9 290 nor my r9 Fury.
I'm still rocking my HAF 932 from 2009. A good case will last you a long time just like a power supply.
Lol i still have the haf X with a new ryzen 7 build in it still perfect imo.
Same I just repainted mine and added a large fan filter at the front
I have a HAF 922 bought for 10.50 good case
same here, HAF 932 in 2008 or so.... just replaced the 10 yr old fans (3x 230mm 1x140mm) with noctuas (3x200mm 1x140mm) to cool my r5 1600 build. still havent taken the mylar off the little window on the side :P...oh, and i added a front panel for usb3.0, too
HAF 932 rocking my 1700x and 1080, and water cooled, lol... big ass case sits nice on the floor.
My first case was a HAF 932, this really takes me back. Collected dust like crazy, but it was a great case.
Mine too!
I'm still using mine to this day.
I have it in 2022 with inside 3090 and 12900k. Still rocking!
The power button cover kept my cats from turning off the computer and a DataVac was essential for how often I had to blow out the dust. lol
The cats thing read was fact for me also 😂
Same story with cat
I have a original HAF X (bought new at release) that I've transferred over to a second computer. Thing still going strong.
Might be my forever case.
Im still using my HAF 912, and I just built my ryzen build into it not too long ago.
I was rocking the HAf 932 Advanced for the longest time. I chose it over the X since it was pretty much the same case, but the 932 had 230mm fans vs the 200's on the X. Though the X had that shroud force feeding the GPU.
Lasted through 2 builds (6 years) until I finally upgraded to the H500P Mesh with my 9900k/2080ti build.
have it too. Bought same time :)
You're WRONG! The case in the right hands! Can modify that HAF case into HAF.Rev2 and you'd be surprised! No CASE IS OBSOLETE!
I have a HAF932. I got it back in 2011 and built my first PC. I will be updating to a 2700x and rtx 2080 in it. Still love the case
I still have a HAF case downstairs collecting dust. I remember purchasing some magnetic dust filters from a outfit in South Africa. I'll have to post a few pictures on Twitter one of these days.
Demciflex? I bought their filters for my HAF912.
I'm still using my Haf X today, and I still enjoy it
Rocking a CM Storm Trooper still from 2011. Was kind of a brother to the HAF lineup
This was my dream case back in the day; my previous rig used a HAF 932.
This morning, next to the dumpster by my house, I found a HAF X. It came from a smoker home, so lots of industrial degreaser and a long, hot shower.
I'm transferring my main workstation into it tonight.
haha that's great!
My HAF X with i7-930 and SLId GTX 760s is still kickin as a hand-me-down. Three of the casters are broken and only one USB one the front is still in one piece, but it gets the job done.
Yeah, one of my USB finally broke.
Funny, one of my HAF X's casters broke recently too.
you can buy replacement casters from coolermaster europe. had to replace 2 so i bought 4 in case the others broke
Such good memories.
after owning this case for 6 years i finally know how to open that damn cover for the front fan.
from an era when Cooler Master used to make actually GOOD cases.
@@HoraceFoca You can already move the one drive cage up or down, the second one just slides in.
@@richarddortch6122 is this smaller cage what you moved mate? along with the two extra bays? The big one below is riveted in, seems.a bit difficult to extract and put on top in the other case. ibb.co/Dkzf9tC
@@HoraceFoca I drilled the lower cage rivets out. I wanted to get more airflow from the front fan into the case.
Still rocking the HAF X, and I have no plans to replace it. Airflow is the most important feature for me.
Fuck yeah.
You’re not alone, I‘m still using my HAF X, for the simple fact that is has excellent cooling.
Even worse filtration and for some reason holds 9 CD drives (pretty much just bootlegging movies)
It also holds 9 120mm fans for no good reason and has surprisingly good water cooling support.
I was still using mine till a few weeks ago. I loved it that i never changed it even when i did a new build back in 2016. Only changed my case now since i wanted a case with a tempered glass window
best case ever. I have two. still using today
Dammit now I want a HAF X
My good friend sold me a HAF X case for cheap to use with my first gaming pc build. I thought about upgrading to a newer case but decided against it for two resons. 1. It's one of the best cases ever made in terms of airflow. 2. It has sort of become a "meme" and my signature at LAN gaming nights :D
I have great memories hauling this case to my friend's house for LAN parties. It really was "The Beast." My dad is using it now. :')
Still using mine 2022 and still looks like new 👍
Thats awesome. This was my first ever case i used for my first build. Im honestly thinking of finding one again xD
I just bought a pc yesterday build in this case and it’s in very good condition even had they plastic peel still on the side panel plexiglass
Had mine since 2011 and still going strong, seen 4 different builds total. God bless the HAF-X.
I'm rocking a haf 932 my friend gave me a couple years ago with dual zeons. It's insanely huge and obnoxious but I love it.
Oh man I had this case and switched to the Phanteks Enthoo Pro. I really loved this case because of it's performance and intimidating size, but I wanted something with more modern interior. If they ever make a second version of this case for 2018, I will buy it day one.
Get the HAF 700
I am still rocking
Cooler Master HAF 912 Advanced.
Still running my i7 920 on a HAF 932 case as a backup PC. Thermals were always great.
2020: i build my buddy a new Ryzen system in his old HAF X. Easy to build in, great temperatures!
July 2018 and on my 3rd PC build and still using my HAF 932(sibling case to HAF X) I bought new in 2009. I bought some new DECMiflex filters and enjoy reduced dust infiltration.
7:04 0.25 speed HAHAHAHHA nice Steve..
Oh god, I kept watching it at that speed...Steve be drunk!
LOL!
LooooL!!!!!! AAAhahaahaa!
2024 looking to build my new rig and used this case for 10 years before that. i love this case and i am searching for it still.
This case had something that just called to me. Idk, never changing my case until this is revived I swear!
Same here. Might get the latest ASUS mb and a 9900K with 2 Titans, but still use this case.
i still put every build in this case. 11 years of builds is a good purchase.
Loving the case throwbacks!
My current PC is still in HAF 932 case
Same, i have the 932 advanced, i love it. postimg.org/image/qlesufrzp/
PS: Mine has a dust filter on the bottom.
always makes my day to see ya guys post videos. very informative and ho.nest reviews.
just stuck my 4th build in my HAF X yesterday. my case has been dropped a few times but i still love it and it works amazingly!
I still love mine
I bought this case in 2011 for a water cooled i7 930. Still have the case today. Using it for a build i am shopping for now.
i still use a variant of this case today, in 2020 - with the third motherboard installed into it, nearly all fans replaced with RGB and a new white paintjob.
HAF 932 Advanced (and added heavy duty caster wheels)
You bring years to my eye ... I still use this one ... And very recently I updated it with the RGB cooler master 2000mm fans ... Great review...
There is 200 mm fans available to buy, plus you could use 140 or 120 up front, two 140 or 120 at the top, and up to four 120mm fans on the side.
My first case was a HAF 932 in 2008.
Still got one of these bad boys!
It's literally a "War"frame. Hahaha (only title I play)
Still have mine sitting somewhere collecting dust. Thing is HUGE! I remember when I got it and opened the box, I was just blown away at how big it was.
And here's me STILL using a HAF 932 Advance :\
And here's still me, using Cooler Master K280. Not HAF, but it certainly has similar features. I'm finally upgrading it to Silencio S400.
I owned the haf 932 which I bought for my x58 build in 2009. I loved that thing and used it for 6 years till I moved to the phanteks enthoo pro.
i still uses my haf x and have no plan on upgrading it and so love the push pull config for water cooling thanks to the 2 200mm fans at the top and i do agree about dust cleaning tho i use a air compressor to clean mine
Before HAF X, there was an original HAF 932, and it was, an is, better, than X
1. you could have mounted not only 200mm fan on the side, but 4 120mm fans. Gives you a lot of options, like a two 240 radiators on the side/
2. it had a lot more space above the motherboard, because of the ability to run PSU above or below.
Ah, those where the days. Functionality actually mattered and cases had airflow.
Thanks for doing this, I still have my HAF X case and may reuse it for my new build.
