Nonkeratinized Oral Epithelium |Oral Mucous Membrane

In the non-keratinized oral mucosa the epithelium consists of three layers -
1. Basal layer - Stratum basale
2. Intermediate layer - Stratum intermedium
3. Superficial layer - Stratum superficiale
STRATUM BASALE (BASAL LAYER) - Single layer of CUBOIDAL CELLS is evident
STRATUM INTERMEDIUM ( INTERMEDIATE LAYER) - Made up of predominantly POLYGONAL CELLS
STRATUM SUPERFICIALE (SUPERFICIAL LAYER) - Contains FLATTENED CELLS that have nucleus
