    The best looking GS to date. That new fairing has definitely added some pizzazz to the bike. Well done, BMW!

    I'm sure one day BMW will list wheels and handlebars as an optional extra and not come as standard!

    I always enjoy your reviews Michael. I feel like you are trustworthy and experienced enough to know who will enjoy the bike you are testing.
    We all want to see the comparison of this bike to the KTM 790 Adventure when it comes out. My money is on the KTM. KTM know the dirt side so much better than BMW.

    A good bike I’d say. But at £15k top spec ........ Everything, & I mean everything, is far too expensive these days.

    • @T0BBi94
      @T0BBi94 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Today that is a pretty decent price for a Premium brand such as BMW. But if it is not in your budget Suzuki is making some good budget options with the V-strom. I doubt BMW will have a hard time selling these bikes at that price.

    • @EnglishVeteran
      @EnglishVeteran 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      T0BBi94 Well I can afford to buy this cash but frankly feel everything is grossly over priced.Clearly this motorcycle is not worth nearly £16k. They will not sell that many but then that is true of all bike manufacturers. This is about world economics. The reality is every single European country and most of the rest of the world is Bankrupt. These firms have to charge huge amounts to stay afloat.

      15K premium with a 3 year warranty that doesn't actually include parts... should be fine as long as the oil keeps flowing round the engine o_O

    • @BoZhaoengineering
      @BoZhaoengineering 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chinese engine, gaining weight and over priced compared to other brand. Outlook of a bike is subjective. BMW is feeling OK? What it does simply do not notch this adv on up the top. Why I should spend that more ?

    I can see that those days down in Wales really improved your offroad riding skills...looking good! It’d be nice if the engine put out 100 ponies, but I guess it’s a relatively light bike so it’s probably quite responsive and yet manageable. I sometimes drop the power on my 1290 SA down to 100, and in gravel and sand that’s adequate power for a much bulkier bike, so maybe 92 is enough for this.

    After seeing this bike, T7 and KTM 790R in person on a moto show I ordered my KTM 790R last week. BMW is a proper bike but there's nothing there that really excels. KTM got me on better and adjustable suspension, 20-30kg less weight, more stuff in the base version and cheaper accessories in general. Sorry BMW, maybe next time.

    The price is killing factor as well as a weight. I heard this is something around 260kg for 850GSA which is a lot. Africa Twin AS is 20kg less.

    Not to mention with the 270° crank, the engine won't be a buzzy, vibrating, bland uninspiring noise anymore.

      My F800GS was as smooth as butter, sounded lovely throughout the rev range.. Only thing was lack of winter weather protection. No vibration, not sure what you're smoking?

  • @MarkDrummond
    @MarkDrummond 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is the bike at 4:24 not a 1200 or 1250? Sure looks like one! Edit: The clip at 5:37 is a 1250GS.

  • @patrickbrown94
    @patrickbrown94 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Such a great looking bike, but sad to hear no mention of improved reliability from the BMW rep. I loved my 800gs dearly but it broke my heart with electrical issues. You can’t do a world adventure if your bike doesn’t start.

    • @chrisredfield3240

    • @rcc8506
      @rcc8506 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They're a*holes. The BMW 310 GS which is made here in India retails for £5k. From what I've heard it costs them less than 2k to build.

    • @sneakerjoe23
      @sneakerjoe23 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Raj Cha you realize building something is only a very small fraction of the entire production cost? R&D, shipment of products, marketing

    • @rcc8506
      @rcc8506 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sneakerjoe23 I am very well aware of the cost structures because i come from that line with deep experience in India. The problem inmo is a "deal" between the partners not to hurt the local partner on home turf in return for other favors..KTM on the other hand makes very affordable bikes here because Bajaj owns 49% of KTM (of the mothership) and they basically call the shots due to their enormous financial power and hence pricing structure whereas bmw is in just a 50:50 partnership with a local heavyweight.

      Peoples attitude against China is "so 2000". Today China can deliver any quality wanted. This isn't some "order from China" engine, it's designed in BMW Germany, production line is designed by BMW and quality assurance in China is made by BMW.
