Just got my Barra 1100z .22 and your explanation of how to set the hammer spring is the best I have watched. All the ones I have watched never say where to START the hammer spring. You do.. thanks for the clarity. One gentleman was saying to turn the spring up or down. Well logically, the screw only goes in or out. Another gent was saying to turn it in or out from the factory setting. Well, that is assuming that the fellow at the bench putting the gun together, screwed it in correctly and the trip across thousands of miles of ocean, unloading crates, putting on trucks, sitting in warehouses and then delivery truck drivers.. is the screw where it needs to be? Your explanation to start with the screw flush with the back is the best so far.
Yep,... I have a Diana Stormrider which is UNregulated so I am the Regulator,... It's sweet spot for power & accuracy is 150 BAR down to 125 BAR which gives me 8 shots.
I think once you get the Regulator set to the Velocity of the Pellet you want then adjust your Hammer DOWN to keep that Velocity so you are NOT over hammering,... So, if the rifle & pellet performs perfectly at say, 870 fps then back the Hammer off to the point that the Velocity is about to drop from that 870 fps. This gives you the right amount of Hammer tension & the right amount of Air at the right amount of Pressure to stay closely to that 870 fps for best performance at every shot :)
You provide a valuable service and it is appreciated. In the spirit of being helpful, it would be much more pleasant to watch your videos if you would kill the audio and substitute captions when the wind is wrecking the audio. This is an issue in many of your videos as it is in the beginning of this one. Thanks.
So my question for you is, If you were to get a brand new rifle (unregulated) do you find what the best pellet is for that stock rifle first before you start to tune it or do you first tune it to your power preference and then try to find what pellet is best for that rifle at that power tune? also what is your steps in tuning from out the box?
On one of your videos you showed a "delete oring". You replaced those two little orings that push the pellet in. Whare did you get it and HOW do you replace the rubber ones?
Pellets for the most part don't care what reg pressure you push them with. Slugs on the other hand very much care. And to much or to little pressure behind them can completely change how they shoot.
@@STKO2011 it's more than that also though. To much Turbulence behind a slug makes them vear off in almost any direction. And the Turbulence is usually caused because of to much or to little Reg Pressure and valve dwell.
How many shots have you fired from your avenger? I would like to buy one, it is between that , air venturi bullpup, and the gauntlet I can't decide. The biggest thing keep away from Air Venturi is the amount of online view saying that something called the poppet valve fails, and the quality is not there.
my 22cal probably 10k pellets, and 4k pellets with 25cal, 1k out of my 177...not one issue...most the time reason why that valve failed is because of trying to get the most power out of the gun and overloading with pressure/hammerspring
Super reliable I have 5. 3 of them one of each caliber have thousands of rounds through them. I made a walnut stock for my oldest one and that gun probably has 8-10 thousand rounds through it. No problems with any of them so far! Knock on wood 😂.
@@DrSaminstine that is crazy! That goes to show, can't just read the forums, people probably dont want to admit the cheaper rifle is as good as the higher $$$ ones.
So what do you leave your regulator on. 1800 2000 2200? Also my 22 avenger seems to leak off air down to 3000, from 4000, any thoughts why, is it an easy fix? Tia..
on 22 AVA usually 1800psi...that's not good, sounds like an oring somewhere, or something loose...i'd try to listen for the leak or spray areas of the gun with hot soapy water to see bubbles
I’m not interested in a pcp rifle that doesn’t allow easy hammer spring adjustment. You can even get more life out of your spring when it ,eventually, starts to fatigue over time. Gotta have it. Thanks James. Your vids have been really helpful to me as I enter into this world of pcp shooting. BTW I’m going to be stuck hand pumping for a while. Taxes went up and my house needs some expensive repair. If you still have that Umarex .22 Origin, your thoughts on tuning its unique system would be very helpful. It looks like its the only .25 I’m going to be able to fill by hand. Your thoughts on the new .25 would also be appreciated.
Sorry to hear that! On the 22cal Origin EPT I personally found around 3000psi to be the fill in my gun (about 10-15 shots ) down to 2600psi or so.., and 2-3 turns in on the hammerspring for various pellets/distances...CHPs, JSB 15.89s, and HN 18 Baracuda all shoot well once tuned in, I haven't even looked into the 25cal Origin so I really can't say

Thanks James, appreciate your effort and lesson on adjusting the hammer spring. Informative as usual!
Thanks!

Good information. Control variables
Thanks!
So, will this help with slugs?
My Gauntlet 2 .30 is like a shotgun but pellets are tight.
Just got my first PCP pistol, trying to tune it is going to be interesting until I can afford a chrono.

Do a atn video king with a airgun like avenger 22.
