I'm glad to see such a nice appreciation for this film! At the time it was trashed by so many. It would be good to see Julien Donkey-Boy get a new release too, although that was shot on early digital , so maybe it won't benefit much beyond the old DVD.
thanks I think a lot of contemporary films that do not fit the mould get critiscised unfairly pleased to see Criterion pushing his work out there, hopefully many will pick up Gummo at the November sales.
This release is an absolute failure, the fact they did not restore the original directors cut that was fully finished and screened before it scrambled for an R rating to get distribution. Criterion just doesn't care.
there must be a reason as the director himself supervised and approved the transfer if there's one person who knew how to access this cut, it would be him don't you think?

no problem this film isn't for everyone but I'm pleased is putting Criterion is putting more focus on these filmmakers.
