  • Ave Maria! In this live show, we are joined by Mr. Roy Schoeman, a Jewish, atheist Harvard professor who converted to Catholicism. Roy's conversion testimony is truly astonishing, and the Blessed Virgin Mary played a central role in bringing him to the Church. We also discuss the important link between the Jewish faith and its fulfilment in Catholicism which Roy has written books on.

      I beg to differ. When I’m not allowed communion at the Lord’s table, let me emphasize the Lord’s table, then I don’t call this welcoming. As a practicing Anglican and regular church goer, everyone is welcome at our Lord’s table. I might add that even our Priest was not welcome to take communion in one of your churches. I have great respect for the Catholic Church but this is one area of putting out a sign that says Catholics Only, all others not welcome at our table. The rest of you can sit at the back and the most you can get is a blessing, but absolutely no partaking of the body and blood. You’re not good enough for that.

    • @marycw
      @marycw หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      @@laurelbinnington6393 Hello Laurel, it is not that you are not welcome at the Lord's table. Catholics not in the state of Grace are also not allowed to receive Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. So anyone not baptised and received into the church is not allowed to receive Him. Catholics likewise are not allowed to accept communion in any non-catholic church either. There is a big difference. Catholics believe that at the Consecration in the Mass the bread and wine become Our Lord's Body and Blood. You would be more than welcome once you have satisfied the conditions that Catholics themselves have to satisfy before they receive. You are certainly welcome to take the necessary steps and then join us "at the table".

      YES ! I was away for over 20 years.....age 20-30+.....after a disappointing search everywhere for answers, mystical connection to God....made my way back to Catholic church.....mystical connection & Truth....It was actually there all the time, but hidden ! (Charismatic renewal, Marian Apparitions, Eucharistic miracles! Lives of saints like St. Teresa of Avila, St. Faustina/Divine Mercy...on & on)....I had been totally swallowed up in ways of the world with its pleasures, temptations, propaganda in the 60's & 70's! I have never regretted returning to the Church...no matter what else has happened in my life (now 74 yrs.old)

    I have read a trainload of materials and among all of that I have missed the story of the red rope that became white and it no longer working after the crucifixion… …that’s a wow. I have to search for that and read of it. This has been most interesting. I love the Jewish participants in the faith. They bring much back to the Church. There are so many Jewish dogmatic traditions imbedded too in the traditional origins of the Catholic Church that it cannot be denied that we are of a Jewish origin.

    This is a beautiful discourse! I have always thought, through the discernment by the Holy Spirit, that the Jews themselves had to be the vehicle to have Jesus crucified and to blame them would be a real heresy against Judaism. God's plans can not be changed! Roy explained beautifully God's plan to include the gentiles into His church and then help bring the Jews to Jesus.

      That would be ok, except Darwinian evolution did not happen. The fossil record does not cooperate with that idea at all. It's just not there. The record shows the sudden appearance of new kinds of organisms, and not gradual transitions.
      Also, random mutation plus natural selection cannot get you there. The variety of life and the teleological implications of every little part of biological systems make those twin concepts impossibly ridiculous as the drivers for such variety. Mutation rates few too low, and mits mutations are neutral or bad and hardly ever create new and useful structures.
      If you believe in abiogenesis, you need to study that a lot more, it's impossible. Biomolecules don't just spontaneously form and agggregate into living things.

    My input: Professor Schoeman recounted a dialogue with a Jewish Rabbi:
    The Professor reminded the Rabbi that during the time of atonement the Priest once a year had a red string attached to him as he entered the temple where the Holy of Holies was kept to offer sacrifice for the sins of the Jewish people, and if God accepted the sacrifice forgiving the sins of the nation then the string would turn white which it had done in years past, and this assured the people that God had forgiven them of their sins, but at the same time of the crucifixion of Jesus it is recorded in Jewish history that the string remained red which showed the hardness of heart- that the rejection of Jesus the Second person of the Blessed Trinity was the unforgivable sin.
    The Rabbi response to the Professor that it was the acceptance of Jesus at that time by many Jews that wasn’t forgiven.
    Perhaps the Professor if such a dialogue occurs again answer the Rabbi with that many of the Jewish people sided with the Jewish leadership to crucify our Lord. And before Jesus arrest it is recorded by St. John’s Gospel in chapter six St. John tells that many who followed Jesus walked away. And so to follow the Rabbis’s reasoning why the string remained red l, acceptance of many Jews, does not hold, for the leadership and many of the Jewish people indeed rejected our Lord which ended in the horrific crucifixion and therefore string red is not because of acceptance by many.
    To finish, History shows the leadership and many of the Jewish people had not accepted but truly indeed had rejected our Lord, and it is true the apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary - the Mother of a Divine Person - are Jewish,
    but the early church indeed was a minority hunted down and persecuted.

The thought that man had anything to do with something this magnificent is in itself preposterous. It’s arrogance, pride and narcissism on steroids. I am happy this man found his way out of the wormhole.
