Why doesn't the vi also go with the SubDominate family... it too has two notes of the IV?

    Good day,
I would like to know why don't we add, in the family of sub-dominant & dominant(IV & V chord), the 3rd note. For example: for sub dominant which is the IV. Why don't we substitute in the order of IV;Vii & iii. Then for the dominant(V) use V;Vii & iii. I just got a little confused as I'm starting from scratch. Please help.

Appreciate Video clip! Apologies for chiming in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you thought about - Rozardner Stopping Sounds Reality (should be on google have a look)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for transforming you into A guitar legend minus the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my old buddy Taylor at last got great success with it.

Anyone know where to find the series "Music Theory for Song Writing" that he mentions aeouns 1:20? I've looked everywhere and can't find it.

Thank that’s good info to know. What about the relationship of the iii and V as well as the IV and VI ?

Those chords are relative to each other (relative major and relative minor) so they can easily be interchanged. Thanks! -Chad

Great lesson, as usual, but why would the vi chord in C not also function as a substitute for the subdominant of that key as they also share 2 tones? What is the explanation, if any?

It can, it's just not used as often: it just depends on the context; the sound of it within the progression.
