    I am so sad for your losses. I always looked forward to your videos, and learned so much, your tanks were an inspiration! Also your gorgeous camera/editing work. I have recently lost 3 of my bettas, but I have 6 others, and my oldest are still hanging in there and doing well. I have two new ones coming, and am looking forward to them, but I do understand the need to take a break. Your other tanks are also gorgeous and inspirational. Take good care, you've got an awesome heart!

    Sorry they did not live longer. It is hard to get a betta that is bred for longevity. Take a well needed rest. I had a 10 year rest and now I think this is my last betta. One thing that helped my bettas live longer was a good heater and air stone to keep the water more stable in small tanks. Will miss your betta videos.

    It's always sad when they die but the memories and things you learned are a positive part of the experience. My pineapple Betta died about 6 months ago from dropsy. Your tanks highly influenced how I setup my own tanks. I absolutely love the colors of the gravel mixed with the plants and wood. To me it was just so perfect for what I like. Your videos are breathtaking and inspiring! Take care 🌺

    (Hast du schon mal mit dem Gedanken gespielt Bettas in der Wildform zu halten?)
    Ich denke immer mal wieder an die schöne und klare Gestaltung deiner Becken die mich sehr inspiriert. Danke für deine Videos!

    • @freshwatertanks
      @freshwatertanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Danke vielmals! 😃 Ja war ein schönes Kapitel. Das mit der Wildform habe ich mir schon mal überlegt. Aber leider gibt es zu wenige in der Schweiz oder ich habe einfach noch niemanden gefunden der diese anbietet. Ich hatte jedoch mal ein Pärchen "betta imbellis" gesehen und fand die noch interessant. Aber ja ich weiss wirklich noch nicht was ich machen werde. Irgendwie bin ich momentan froh dass ich nur noch 3 Aquarien habe, da der Aufwand mit 9 Aquarien schon viel war. Mal sehen wie ich in ein paar Monaten darüber denke. Die Becken habe ich ja noch! 😃

      hi debbie. mine also just rested most of the time on leaves or on the substrate once they reached the age of 2 years. but they still got super excited during feeding time. this never changes ha ha! ah and your betta has also already reached a nice age which is great.

    You know I have to be honest in the last 3 years living in Taiwan I've probably lost at least 100 betas they're all male.
    First I was told I didn't need a filter so some of them died from disease then I set up a filter of course I cycle the tanks and then after that I still kept having fish die usually from swim bladder but they would also die from just sudden death
    Turns out taiwan's water sucks and it needs to be put into a plastic water dispenser let it sit for 2 days and then all the crud rises to the surface you skim the top of it and the water is ready to go
    I have not had any acidic water probably in the last 3 weeks
    the only betas that tend to do really well are short thin bettas I don't know why male female they can live one to three years
    Now I have to admit when I first started my gravel was colored but everything else was hardscape and Driftwood and live plants
    finally figured out how to keep water let us alive the only thing that can live well in my tanks it was anubius
    the reason I kept going was because I figured at least every beta I bought had a good home whether they lived 3 months or 6 months
    My females they all did very well lived two to three years. I've got three tanks two of them are now community tanks and they're doing great I was blessed to have three betas that get along great in their tanks with other fish.
    my point is don't give up you have such beautiful tanks and it's very easy to rearrange things in a different way.
    I changed my aquascaping at least once a month because I like having different looks with the little materials but I have
    I can tell you all my betas are in heaven. I didn't learn properly because sadly the staff are not trained well and because I can't speak Chinese fluently this is also a problem
    My own studying and looking at beta breeders and coffee breeders I figured out how to fix the water
    I say water is 90% of illness probably more
    I asked my sister to send me a type of pill that has seaweed and kelp in it because for some reason betas get constipated particularly males.
    If that doesn't do it then once a week my male betas will be getting a Epsom salt bath to detoxify their bodies
    I don't give them a lot of food I feed them once a day they get maybe two or three pellets and then I fast them on Sundays.
    I have really good pellets it's not cheap food it's high quality pellets
    I'm thinking of maybe giving them blood worms maybe this will help. sadly we don't have Frozen brine shrimp and Daphne if we did I'd give him that
    my point is keep going there's so many good betas that need a good home

    • @freshwatertanks
      @freshwatertanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      so sorry to read that but it's nice to read that you didn't give up and trying your best to give the little fishes the best care possible! 😃

      @@freshwatertanks they have better genetics since they are either hybrids or wild species that haven’t been inbred for traits.
      For fighter plakats, they are hybrids or line bred wild species to be strong and aggressive, they also need strong immune systems to heal after a fight. So even if there is some inbreeding, because they are being bred for a sport they are produced to be healthy first and then fitness.
