MegaMan Battle Network 5: Double Team DS Team ProtoMan Liberation Mission 6 feat. ShadowMan.EXE

  • The final main story Liberation Mission and we got the only chick we can play as part of the story and it is not an operation battle (which I thought looks cool but it sucks since you can't control the Navis). Meddy got Charge Max, which makes her the only member among Team ProtoMan to use charge shot at the fastest rate. This really makes up a lot for her lack of close range and less flexibility to fight surrounded and disadvantage battles if you know how to utilise her skill well as a combo alongside your chips and knowing your enemies' attack pattern.
    She got Twin Liberation, which requires her and another Navi, mostly GyroMan to hit an end for a column of panels. So, when do you want to use Twin Liberation? You usually want to use this for panels that are line vertically and it has to be at least 5 panels. The reason for this is because NapalmMan can already do 4 panels straight with Napalm. Also, keep in mind, you have to utilise SearchMan's skills too when using her abilities if you want to get no damage or to get rid of an item panel at the end to create an opportunity for her skills. Also, her skill is also beneficial when Napalm might trigger traps on the sides and destroys items. Her skill is also forgiving since you don't need to get one turn liberate, you just need to win. So, as you can see, you get three opportunities to use this skill without taking overworld damage if you follow my approach.
    Now, about the Boss fight. Dark ProtoMan is annoying and he really is. He attacks with his shadows first and then himself. And either one will continue to hit you for at least 3 times if you manage to avoid the attacks. He can also step into your area or use fighter sword (3 square long) so don't think the staying in the back row can save you. He has unlimited area grabs so just to show you, advantage field means nothing for this boss as he will always try to get it balance. The conversation with Team ProtoMan makes no sense whatsoever, especially Meddy since she just joined the team and should have a unique conversations. They really expect you to play with MegaMan for this one since the conversation makes more sense with MegaMan that have been around from the start of the team.
    Anyway, I decided to transport Team Colonel members to do the Boss fight. Originally I want to use ToadMan and utilise his skills to the fullest, you know with SeaSeed and all but that backfired because it slows down Dark ProtoMan too much and he did not try to attack when ToadMan is underwater. In other words, he is more difficult to predict, just like what happens when I use this on CosmoMan. So, in the end, I decided to go with ShadowMan and see how he fare against his counterpart that can use defensive counter move with Left+B.
    Wow, this is a lot more satisfying than I thought it be. ShadowMan already does 100 damage at this point for both charge shot and counter so it really wears Dark ProtoMan down a lot. One word to not die quickly in this fight: Anti-Damage. So the developers really expect you to use Anti Damage Navi Cust as MegaMan for this fight if you want to get no damage or survive as long as possible against the shadows in the original game. I did this fight with Meddy countless times but avoiding the shadows without getting hit is nigh impossible. You either run into one the shadow while avoiding and take damage or take a slash from them. Even with Invincibility 1 phase, this fight is by no means easy and dragging the fight too long is a guaranteed defeat for all ally Navis because their HP is below 500 from the first time you start this mission. Also the reason I was in the very front during this boss fight for almost the entire time was because to get an easy counter with large range chip like Wide Sword or Custom Sword because you can't predict where he would use his attack and the shadows or Dark ProtoMan won't try to enter your area if you are at their doorsteps.

    How are you making the other Navis attack/chip stronger in Liberations? I boost them up the Party System but it doesn't seem to carry over for liberation matches.

      The ally Navi you use during Liberation Missions are independent of Party Battle System so nothing you do there cause any buff during liberation mission. On the other hand, inserting a corresponding game 1, 2, 3, 4, Protoman or Colonel in the Slot 2 (GBA slot) will ONLY power up the Navi's special chip by plus 20 - 100 (Depending on the completion progress of all 9 liberation missions). You can only buff one Navi at a time and even if you change it during liberation, the previous Navi will still have it. So choose wisely who you are going to use most for battles.
      1 - Protoman/Colonel
      2 - Magnetman/Knightman
      3 - Gyroman/Shadowman
      4 - Napalmman/Tomahawkman
      4.5 (THROUGH CHEAT) OR Team Protoman (English release) - Searchman/Numberman
      Team Colonel - Meddy/Toadman.
      Make sure the region is matched though or else it won't work.
