What part of LEAVE dont foreigners understand ????? Mexico is fed up of you border hoopers !!!!!!!!!!
Merida was my first introduction to Mexico over 30 years ago as a backpacker and caused me to fall in love with this beautiful country. I am going back with my wife in August for our 20th anniversary. Can’t wait to experience it again! Thanks for such a great, informative video - really enjoyed your beautiful photography. Cheers Lizzie Sydney Australia.
Thank you! Enjoy your return. I bet it has changed quite a bit since then!
I first arrived in Mérida 40+ years ago. Can you even imagine how different it was then? I can. It was the most peaceful city on earth. I cannot even imagine how many hundreds, probably thousands, of miles I have walked or bicycled on the streets of Mérida. The population of the city is probably three times what it was when I first arrived. The only thing that has not grown is the airport. I quickly fell in love with the downtown area, and especially the Mercado Lucas de Gálvez, from which I lived about 5 blocks in those days. After a long absence, I returned to Yucatán in 2011. When I got to the Plaza Grande, my emotions took over, and tears began to pour down my face. That place holds countless memories for me. I will always love Mérida, because like Mérida, Yucatán, there is no other.
Sounds like some sweet memories you made there! Where do you live now if we may ask? Sounds like you should return to Mérida more often for a visit! 😁

I was born in Merida. I haven’t been there in over 48 years. I know it’s a beautiful City and you can go anywhere. The food is amazing!!! Chochinita Pibil, panuchos,Quibis, salbutes, etc…if u have never been u should visit. I’m planning on taking my whole Family soon.
Wow it must have changed a lot! But we really enjoyed it. And the food is delicious ☺️
My family is fro Merida , I’m so happy that my ancestors, culture is still around there’s a few people there that still speak MAYA
Yes absolutely! Our tour guide at one of the ruins also spoke Maya. It’s a very interesting culture and we were happy to learn all about it! 😄
Ohh and the sand and beaches are Gorgeous!!!!
Yesss Mexican beaches are 👌👌👌👌
Great video . I’m considering visiting Merida 😀. Never heard of it till a friend had to move there.
It’s a great city!! ☺️ we love Merida
We spent two weeks in and around Merida. I would add to your list: listen to great cumbia bands at happy hour cantinas such as El Cardinal and La Negrita, Also, we took a bus trip to Campeche, stayed over night and loved it!
That’s awesome! We didn’t visit Campeche but heard some good things about it
I am so happy to have found your videos. They are really informative and showcase nice highlights and tips in various places. Thank u. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

That's awesome! Have lots of fun!
We haven’t been to Mexico or really given it a lot of thought other than to see some of the ruins. We want to wait on Mexico until our son gets a bit older as well. Another great video. It amazes us how much you guys do in short spans.
You guys should definitely do Mexico in the future! It’s a beautiful country with tons of variety. The people here are also very friendly. It’s our 2nd time here together and we love it once again 🥰
Excellent overview!
Thank you 😄
Me encantó su video ❤
Gracias!
The cut at 5:45 makes it look like Gabriel the tour guide is the guy on the cross, lol
lol that's hilarious!!! that was not the intention! 🤣🤣
Merida has been on my bucket list for a couple years. Spent time in other places in S MX but not that area...Gracias!
Hope you will soon!
Thank for this! I'm thinking of moving there
Big move! Good luck! ;)
Go on a trip first then think about it. Thailands cheaper
@@ryannewton5423cheaper maybe, but never healthy and beautiful as Mexico. Closer to home for americans. You can have Thai.
Great video.
Thanks 😚
Merci!!
Fantastic Video...Professional and more than informative. Well done! My plan is to include this in a segment of my website Magnifica-Merida
Thanks! Sounds good. Send us the link to your website when it’s live! 😁
Nice video! Really brings back the chillie Merida-vibes 🥰
Great times 😎💛
Headed down soon.
Enjoy!
Love this video. I'm in Merida at the moment and was looking for some inspiration. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching! Glad it’s helpful
I really wanna visit here one day. My Dad's Mom's family is from here.
Then you definitely should visit and experience the unique culture ☺️
Excellent video....Merida will be my next trip, very close to Florida.
Correction about the music...is not from Mexico, is from the Andes in South America...Peru, Bolivia, Argentina.
Thank you! Have fun 😊
What's with the Andean music for Merida?
Hi, just found your videos today. Our family of 4 with 2 teenagers have never been to Mexico. We love adventure, your videos make us want to go for our 25th year Anniversary next month. Do you recommend the best airport to arrive to? We have 10 days to kill in the Yucatan Peninsular. Other then Merida, where else do you recommend?
Cancun is the easiest and cheapest airport to fly to (it has many international connections). From there, you can get to other places easily. You could start at the coast (Tulum is nicer than cancun and Playa) and then make your way to Bacalar (beautiful lake), Valladolid & Chichen Itza, Merida, and if you have more time the island of Holbox is a true paradise! You can actually rent a car, it’s not that expensive and the roads in the Yucatan are in a good condition and easy to drive on.
@@worldwildhearts Thank you so much for this. Really appreciate it 🙏.
Just out of curiosity what do you guys do for work?
We used to freelance (webdesign and marketing) but now fully focus on our youtube business :)
Do you know if they have any aesthetic spas there
We didn't go to any personally, but there seem to be some in / around the city. Here's a link with 10 of them to check out: www.yelp.com/search?cflt=beautysvc&find_loc=M%C3%A9rida%2C+Yucat%C3%A1n
Great video... should have been called what to do OUTSIDE of Merida. lol You missed out on all the parks and museums.
In and Around! Yes we should change that! ;)
Which cenotes are less crowded ?
All of them were generally quiet when we visited…
PONER SUBTÍTULOS EN ESPAÑOL CON LETRA GRANDE POR FAVOR , GRACIAS !!!
Tal vez en el futuro!
I'm going in two weeks!
Enjoy!! 🙏
So just fyi: Huevos Motulenos are named after the place it was invented, "Motul" which is about 30 minutes outside Merida...
Good to know!! A regional specialty ;)
Are cenotes salt water? Ocean water?
They’re fresh water!
Cancun-Merida daytrip is doable?
It’s possible but it’s a veeeery long trip. The drive is about 3 hours (one way) so we wouldn’t recommend it!
Do you speak Spanish? Did you find it difficult to communicate in English in Merida?
We speak some Spanish indeed and it’s definitely a bonus if you do cause not everyone speaks English! Though you’ll be fine, you can always download offline google translate :)
Cuban music on Mexican land
Countries in latin america adopt music from other countries, so is normal to hear mexican music in Honduras, colombian music in Guatemala and cuban music in uruguay. We are the real meltin pot, not the racist crap of n.america.
The Basketball 🏀 game came from Maya Origens
Yes it looks soooo much like basketball lol
are you guys rich to afford world travel?
We are definitely not rich unfortunately 😂 we wish. We work remotely while traveling and don’t own any cars, property, etc. So we save money that way
I'm Mexican but I don't like my home state of Michoacan my father was murdered there.. I'm currently living in West Virginia United States but I have decided to make this state "Merida" my retirement place to live at.. I can't be in this country forever
Sad to hear. Merida is a safe place in Mexico!
Are you able to climb the ruins in Merida?
No not the Uxmal Ruins.. we were able to climb the Ek Balam ruins which are also close to Merida
Did you fly to Cancun and then drive there? In a rental car?
We flew to Cancun and took a bus (the local bus is called ADO and it's great!). It's also possible to rent a car because the roads are easy to drive on
The shit 😫😫
Say no to Mexico.
I'm sure it's a nice place but Mexico is one of the last places I'd ever want to visit.
We hope to never see you here!
México es el 5 país mayormente visitado del Mundo Por su cultura, arquitectura y mejores playas de la tierra 🌎
@@caballerodelanoche2257 Comprendo. Pero no es para mi. Gracias.
Remove the obedience training masks. Bad message and serves sto mislead ppl.
We were just following the local mask rules in Merida at the time this video was made. Not trying to send any certain message one way or the other.
Food food food.. what about perrico?!
Thanks! Im really looking forward to uxmal because i want to avoid chichen itza
Uxmal was so beautiful! Definitely a lot less crowded than Chichen itza!
