I watched Space Shuttle Discovery launch at midnight in August of 2009. That was my first and only in-person viewing of a space shuttle launch. It's a crying shame that the space shuttle program was cancelled. I was in Florida and went to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in June of 2011 while either Atlantis or Endeavor was sitting on the launch pad. That was the final shuttle which was launched into space. I left to go back home before the launch unfortunately. So I have never seen a daytime space shuttle launch in person.
That was funny! But I don't blame them! I used to live in a city called Satellite Beach,Florida from 1969 to 1971 during the historic Apollo space program. My late father was in the Air force and was stationed at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, otherwise known as The Cape. Anyway, we saw a few launches ourselves while we were there. We lived in the old Patrick Air Force Base south housing units and we could literally walk to the beach itself from our house. The beach itself is now called Hightower Beach Park. When they had launches, the beach near us and all of the other ones were packed with spectators. Those were some fun and adventurous times! This is a great video! I really enjoyed it, and the kids! LOL! Yes, it was definitely worth the wait as the lady asked!
