Thank You Guys for every rundown of which I listened to every minute of. The White Sox is now wide open. One thing I must say is that your buddy Nick Pollard loves Prelander Berroa
Orion Kerkering is the guy to get if you're speculating on someone with high upside who isn't currently the closer IMO. Didn't Alvarado have elbow inflammation last year? He had control issues upon his return, but got better later. I can see Alvarado being replaced at some point.
Apparently the Royals are trying to trade for a "Closer" so i'm lowkey waiting to see if more save opportunities open up with a team(random ex: say the Angels trade Estevez or the Nats trade Hunter Harvey and a different save opportunity opens up on those teams) before I jump too too deep into closers, still relievers available on the market who *could* be used in high leverage and steal saves away from guys. Always tough for relievers before spring training
One thing for the Dodgers is they want another high leverage arm so they I'm not 100% sure Phillips is like guaranteed closing. There were some Kenley Jansen rumors(kinda like this year tbh, even touched 99 this year) but even if they don't add another arm via FA or trade, they have Blake Treinen and J.P. Feyereisen this year coming back from injury and if they want to give them more of a stabilized role instead of fireman roles they could stick 1 of them in the closer role and move Evan Phillips back to the fireman role. That closing situation does not seem locked up yet
I mix up how i listen to the pod between youtube and on my podcast app. Would be a fan if you guys could include a link to the visuals in the podcast description if you're going to use them more often.
I think maybe they want to drive more TH-cam viewership, so by not linking the visuals in the audio-only version, it ostensibly gives people a reason to watch the TH-cam version. Besides, you can always have the TH-cam version on, and just treat it like the audio version if you’re doing other things that keep you from looking at the screen.
Estevez: I can see Robert Stephenson replacing him very easily, but he currently has some shoulder issues. Estevez was horrible in the 2nd half last year. They paid Stephenson 33M.
No. The teams overall are tier 1 teams, but their _closers_ absolutely are not. The Dodgers and Braves are going to win a lot of their games by fairly large margins, whereas a team like the Mets might have at least as many save chances, if not more, because their leads will be smaller on average. Díaz is elite, unlike either Phillips or Iglesias, so assuming a similar number of save chances, you’d project more saves, Ks, and better ratios for Díaz. It’s worth noting that a lot of the really elite saves seasons (e.g. Díaz himself in 2018 for Seattle) happened on teams that weren’t world-beaters, and that ended up playing a ton of close games. Another way to think about it: the Dodgers and Atlanta are far superior to the Mets, but which of the three teams has a top tier shortstop? I don’t think one could reasonably put Gavin Lux in Tier 1 of SS simply because of the team he plays for.
Thank you guys! You have made my off-season prep way easier!
