Seeing people that look like you in the field of medicine make that goal seem so much more attainable. Cant wait.
Kaylen Howard It’s only attainable if you put in the work. You can do this!
@Hussein Rizk chill out man
@Hussein Rizk representation matters, it probably doesn't matter to you because you're not black and you're used to seeing people who look like you. Your comment is very discouraging.
Hussein Rizk shut up your stinky mouth
Hussein Rizk nothing about the original comment is ignorant. Privilege comes in so many forms & your comment CLEARLY comes from a person with privilege. Why do people stereotype Blacks and say we will all be thugs, rappers, and ball players? Because that’s all they bother to see. When that’s all that’s seen, that’s all that’s believed to be attainable. It doesn’t go any deeper than that.
Within the next 10 years Dr. Webb you will be interviewing me as a cardiologist ✊
Awesome! Keep up the good work!
Antonio J. Webb, M.D. In 16 years I will be done with residency. I want to interview with you

Best of this type of video. Thanks for featuring a black female Anesthesiologist. As a black male and an Anesthesiologist, I'm loving this. We need more representation. I will be showing this to my daughters. Thanks.
@@alexsanchez4014 take courses that get you into a great undergraduate major. Take classes that open your mind and improve your critical thinking and writing skills.

@@kandaceunique8240 lol k
Same! Representation matters
Thank you Dr. Webb. It is so important to promote minorities in leadership and professional positions, particularly African Americans.
Thanks Dorian!
You would think, after having a black president, that anybody could be anything he/she wanted to.
Dorian Terry 👏🏽
@@Brickswol well he WAS half white too! i DO believe that played a part in his presidency but nontheless what you say is true!
@Paul Hogue you sir are a TOOL and a dead giveaway!
I’m only 15 but since my mom is a nurse, I always was interested in pursuing the medical field just like her, and being an anesthesiologist looks really cool!
Me too dude
me too, but im 13
no way same, but i’m 13
@@syahirah3228 noo cuz same but my mom isn't a nurse tho
You're getting me super hype for med school now. I will have MD/DO at the end of my name. It'll take me a min, but one day I will.
Yay! Congrats can’t wait to hear your success story 😁
Good luck. You’ll either fail and be in $300k-$500k in debt, or you’ll graduate and have less student loans. #truth
@@dannyn6974 I know. That's why failure isn't an option.
@@royaljester9918 Awesome attitude to have! Ignore that guy, there are gonna be lots like him who will try to bring u down and damper ur mood. They're miserable and mean nothing! Keep going towards your goal! You can do this!
Thank you. I am applying to Anesthesiology residency , can’t wait 💪🏼
Awesome! Good luck!
dont do it they will be replaced with CRNAs.
Filmon Tewolde as someone who wants to be a CRNA I don’t think there will ever be enough CRNAs to replace anesthesiologists especially as medicine advances, so will the amount of procedures that require anesthesia which increases the demand of anesthesiologists and CRNAs
Filmon Tewolde propaganda. Please do the math. There is only 100k anesthesia providers for 350 million. And baby boomer are retiring in waves. This false beliefs is what creates toxic work environment in this amazing field.
@@Joclaim1 not really. its easier to pump out more CRNAs then Anesthesiologists. they will be replaced.
So glad you have this channel. I bought my oldest son your book and he read it quickly. He wants to be a Dr. Your book made a strong impression on him and I am grateful that you took the time as a Minority physician to share your life. Thank you for writing it and God Bless you and your family.
Thank you for the support! Send him my encouragement along his journey. I’m glad I was able to place an impression on him. All I ask now is that you bless another young man or woman with the book 🙏🏾
There's a whole lot of "all lives matter" types in this comment section which is obviously true no one would disagree with you on that. But seeing races which have been systematically oppressed by society for centuries reaching a job as high profile as a doctor is inspiring as it can be more relatable to yourself
Truth! Because if Obama looked like Ben Carson, it would have been a NO go.LOL
they've been doing it for decades. what's new?
Systemic racism is a myth
It doesnt exist anymore. Lift yourself up
Has nothing to do with race but has everything to do with culture. Coming from a immigrant family whose parents worked as grocery baggers and dishwashers at minimum wage my culture raised to be better here in America where opportunities rarely exist in 3rd world countries. Now, I work as an RNFA (surgical nurse) easily making a comfortable income.
As a adult now, i know factors that contribute to lower socioeconomic status, it's a lack of emphasis on education, single motherhood, and low accountability. Those are the top 3 factors. It has nothing to do with race.
That was simple and in-depth at the same time. Very beautiful, humble and intelligent sister.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏾
@@antoniowebbmd You're welcome Dr. Webb
Loved this video! It’s always great to see a unicorn (black female doctor)💕💕💕 👩🏾⚕️
Thank you!
It's pretty common.
The moment I become anesthesiologist, I will come back here and tell everyone about my journey
Anesthesiologists are so awesome! Theyre so clear headed and able to assess a situation fast! I work in a trauma facility and have seen these MDs help stabilize patients that come in critical then straight to OR to further care.
Probably a field no one really knows about. This and Radiologists.
We have to think clearly and act quickly in urgent and emergent situations. I've found that many people really have no idea all the things we have to know to keep them safe.
Black educated 👑queen👑 ....
Thanks for watching!
Everyone wanted to be an anesthesiologist because that was always the highest payed job under medicine! 😭
delatorre5827 paid under salary...
Is it harder and take longer to become one for that?
@iiwery eveii a 500k salary would
I wanna become an anesthesiologist because it seems easy...? Compared to being surgeons and stuffs. Easy but get paid well.
@@jamesmatthew7368 brother im one and let me tell you it aint easier, its a different field of expertise if you like a lot of pharmacology and chemistry then this is the field, surgeons are more akin to general physiology
Your turning into one of if not my favorite TH-camr!!! Great videos Doc!!!!!
Time to get the CRNA and find out the difference in practice.
Nurse Brandon I agree
I been an anesthesiologist here in my hometown in Dublin for a few years now. I love my "work"
Thank you so much for the video Dr. Webb!! I’m planning to become an anesthesiologist one day and your recent videos on the topic have really been keeping my focused and driven❤️
Thank youuuuu. I want to be an anesthesiologist, I needed this content! Right on time
You’re very welcome Jada, good luck on your journey, I’d love an interview when you make it!
Yes!! Thank you Dr Webb, been waiting for this one 😊
Future MD same!!!
12-15 years in school! Dedication is a must. Wow
The Usual Suspects analogy was terrific. I've found in all of the institutions I've worked in here in Canada, there is a tremendous misunderstanding of Anaesthesia until something goes wrong, all options have been exhausted until Anaesthesia is called in and miraculously the patient pulls through. Before anyone has bothered to ask what happened, we're walking down the hall...... a slight pronounced limp is gradually corrected and we're gone
Thanks Dr Webb and Dr White, this was worth it.
Whoa!! This was an excellent and resourceful interview! Thank you Dr. Webb and Dr. White!
Thanks!!
I really apreciate the work she does and taking time to give feedback to help others like me im so proud of her
Crazy how I’ve been watching videos lately on how to become an anesthesiologist. I thought this was an old video in my recommended that I missed but glad it’s new and it’s an African American.
That bit about the salaries and finding groups was really useful. My plan is probably going to be to crunch hours when I'm young so I'm able to spend time with family with my kids when I am older. As I want them to live well while also seeing them.
Awesome! I live in Dallas and I was thinking about becoming one! It's definitely motivating! Thanks for the upload!!
Waaaah another interview on Anesthesiologist . Thanks Doc Webb. And also Doc White for sharing us your career. Keep safe Doctors!
I’m so impressed by her is she’s sooooo amazing! Thanks for sharing your story and being a inspiration
You’re so welcome, if you have any other topic suggestions let me know 😄
I’m a nurse thinking about furthering my career...thoroughly enjoyed this
🗣🎤 Thank God for you & many Drs in your field. I've undergone 4 surgeries within 2 yrs. During which I learned that I'm "high tolerance" for anesthesia.
Awesome video! Your editing skills are popping! 😂
Love what you are doing with your youtube channel brother. Keep up the great work. Wish you all the best.
