So, I've heard it both ways - is his name pronounced like Carol or as the Czech pronunciation Ka-rel?

A classic of all band literature. I've been thinking of this musical representation of the Soviet Invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 a lot lately, due to the fact that Russia has invaded the sovereign territory of Ukraine. Times are very different now, and it's a good thing, however we must keep supporting the good people of Ukraine, as we were unable to do with Czechoslovakia in 1968. There are many parallels throughout history with Russia's current terrorist regime. Let us hope that Ukraine is able to recover in the way that Chechia and Slovakia have, sooner than later.
