I couldn't finish In A Holidaze either - ugh, just so repetitive. I used to always finish books but in the last few months there are just so many that I want to read that any books that don't hook me in by at least a third of the way through, I'm not finishing.
Who's the author with crazy last 100 pages?? Agree with what you said on love triangles, it's very middle school drama-ish. Poor Katniss, she had her feelings manipulated so thoroughly she never realized she's just not interested in romance considering her life circumstances. I think the Hunger Games definitely still holds up as an adult, but I definitely have less patience for the love triangle the older I get. It just doesn't add anything to the story or its message and nothing would change if the romance aspect was removed completely. I LOVE multiple POVs too! It allows for a much more complex story and world and encourages the reader to consider perspectives other than the main character's. It also usually results in me falling in love with a secondary character and then getting annoyed when it's not their POV lol
the author that famously has a crazy last 100 pages is Sarah J Maas. in the last book in the ACOTAR series the entire book was ...... extremely plotless and then 98% of the action + intrigue happen in the last 100 pages.... I feel like authors think a long book is "build up" to all the events unfolding, when in reality it tells me they could have actually just tried to write better material throughout the book. the ending did not make reading that last book worth it ..... lmao
Cool, this was really interesting! Thanks for sharing. There are some really beautiful book covers around, can’t say I’d choose a book based on it but I hate when a book has a terrible cover. I’ve noticed it a lot watching US book tube channels, they show a book, sounds interesting, I go onto to Amazon and the UK book has a really ugly cover 😄 Hmm, I guess less of an issue with e-books! Just a side note (and this is likely just me so 🤷🏻♀️), I found the background music on this really annoying 😄 sorry! Just don’t think it’s necessary. I’m here to hear what you’re sharing cos you’re amazing and less noise is a beautiful thing. Have an fab weekend Grace!
thanks for the note about the music! I was debating on whether or not to add any in so I'll just leave it out in the future! (I also didn't edit with my headphones on for this one and realize part of the issue might be that the music is a little too loud😅)
related to what you said about cliffhangers, i feel like if the big drama of your book hinges on a cliffhanger… you maybe should’ve written something better lol
I loved listening to this!❤
Love finding creators that are anti-consumerism & pro-library!!!!!
me too! woohoo go libraries!
I love six of crows ❤
oo Secret History is on my list!
Thanks for doing this. It was interesting getting insight into you reading preferences
Leigh Bardugo is great❤
I love her books so far! seems that it's tough for me in the first 60-100 pages but then I'm LOCKED in lol
ACOSF was such a groundhog day without any aspect that could make that interesting! That's such a great comparison.
It's so fun to see how similar we still are with our reading habits and tastes! I rarely re-read books as well.
there's just too many good books out there😭😭
@@gracereadit So true! An endless TBR

yeah honestly I'd love this year to be the year of a ruthless DNF for me. life's too short to read shitty books!

I dnf’d In A Holidaze awhile back, I’ve tried several books from Christina Lauren and just can’t get into them 🤷♀️
