    Wow, this made me nostalgic. Paddled Gundagai to Wagga on first release mid spring 2014. Beautiful trip thanks mate.

    I did the trip from Jugiong to Wagga a few years ago with some mates. I feel your pain about dragging your kayak. I lost count the number of times I ran aground and had to drag it. I was lucky that I had a spare paddle, because I snapped a blade trying to maneuver around a shallow bend. It was a great trip! Here's the kayak trail: visitwagga.com/__data/assets/pdf_file/0018/52047/Murrumbidgee_Canoe_Kayak_Trail.pdf

    looks way nicer than the murray river . what do you think Robbo ? which would you prefer to paddle and camp along now you have paddled them both?. the Murray or the Bidgee?

    Great production Andrew. I'm planning to do this trip next month (March 2022); my son and I won't be able to start until midday on day 1. Do you know of anyone who has camped approx 20 kms down river from Jugiong? We wanted to make Sandy Falls our second camp. I don't want any conflict with a farmer but I was hoping to avoid door knocking in the area ahead of the trip as I am 3 hrs away in Cooma.
    Water won't be a problem anyway!!

      I am afraid I don't know if anyone has and I can't remember seeing any good spots to camp (I wasn't looking). I just had a look at the satellite map, and unfortunately all the spots that are not paddocks are very step banks or cliffs. Maybe go for a drive along the river and scope it out first.

      @@auntymonkey01 thanks mate. I did go for a drive and met a welcoming land owner in a great spot. Unfortunately we have had to call off our trip for the moment because of Burrinjuck releases; river at 5m.

      @@petermcmahon8707 yeah I saw the river levels were high. Was thinking about doing a couple days on it next week, but might go somewhere else.

    Great to see this section before I contemplate where I'm going to take off from... good grief, there's a lot of boney or choked river on this stretch! What was the water level when you did this section?

      I can't remember the actual numbers, but it was really low. It was in the "Stay at Home" section of the scale on this page... www.waterwaysguide.org.au/map/6339

      @@auntymonkey01 oh that's a great link, thanks! And phew, good to know. I was really starting to think I'd have to start at Gundagai.

    Hey Andrew, what a fantastic paddle and video. Are you still out paddling? Is your Kayak fibrerglass or plasticish?

    • @auntymonkey01
      @auntymonkey01  ปีที่แล้ว

      I paddle a couple of times a week around Sydney. The kayak I currently use (as seen in the Summit to Sea videos) is a Mirage 582 made of kevlar. The one in this particular video (my older kayak) is a light weight plastic.

    Great video. What is the recommended size of the kayak for camping like this?

    • @auntymonkey01
      @auntymonkey01  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The kayak used in this video was 5.3m. I now paddle a 5.8m boat which gives a lot more storage.
