I think it’s a great piece, I love it, but I don’t feel insulted when someone says they don’t love it. I like to know why. I think the final piece could be better because even though I love it, I think it can use a little more balance here and there and some fine tuning in certain parts concerning the volume of certain instruments or voice notes. But if this is the final piece, it’s incredibly freakin amazing. My favorite though is still Signora and Scaramouche ❤️

And the people who hate anything and everything in Genshin music because "Yu Peng Chen left, everything is shit" without any actual substantial criticism of what is, in their opinion, worse. They also did this on the 3.6 weekly boss where we only had the actual fully finalized version with preload

My point being that any criticism towards arlecchino’s theme won’t change on the final version, if this isn’t the final version already.
@pete5423 this boss theme changed a lot in beta, phase 1 is completely different from how it was at the start of beta and the transition phase + phase two werent even in the beta until a few weeks ago. And the phase 2 in this video is also still unfinished, you can hear it pretty clearly due to the fact that its still all midi and the voice is not really that clear. But that doesnt change the fact that even in its current state phase 2 is far from being bad or underwhelming. And scaramouches theme was still being hated on by the time we had the finished version, people usually stop doing it after people actually knowledge about music say that it is actually really good and explain why.

My favourite detail in the fatui bosses is the small details of character aspects within each theme. La Signora's theme had a woman singing opera, which pays homage to her being an opera singer. In this theme, you can hear children singing. It shows both her care for children, and the orphans obedience and precision within performing. If you know anything about choirs with children, it isn't easy. Of course, this isn't directly IN the game, it's not like Arlecchino went up to the children and requested for them to sing a sick battle theme, but take this as a way of referencing it.

In fact i support hoyomix letting each of the fatui harbingers has its own features and characteristics refering to the boss him/herself. Despite from la signora and scara's saddness and Chaotic Evil with unwillingness, the feeling of Arlecchino is different. Apart from the femmale vocal and the kids sound from the background, in phase 1 the untidy strings( which the people saying is mading phase 1 worse than beta ver) is so perfect to represent her evil or danger, fitting her personality, then to the fatui leitmotif which is as epic as others but thats not the main point. What makes it top is the phase 2. Different from la signora's tragicness and scara's angerness and Unyielding. . knave's phase 2 Start from a high pitch vocals and an epic beautiful orchestra compose. Representing her identity as a BOSS and evilness and we are having an epic fight with her. A good opening .Then to the choir part.(4:08) It further establish the image of arlecchino as an emperor and main character in the ost, how powerful and strong she is. Its not pure evilness though, the feeling of evilness doesnt come from the musical instrument that is using( for example, organ are often use to play melodies to show their evilness in genshin especialy for scara). For me, the sense of evil comes from the momentum displayed from the singing of vocal( check the definition of momentum, here is not the one in physics) . The requiem part (4:35) doesnt feel sadness. Its more like chilling. Traditionaly, requiem has relation with death or something, also has meaning of rest. People thinking this part is the sad story of arlecchino but no. For describing, the feeling of this requiem part is arlecchino seating on the throne up stairs, putting her cheeks in one hand, looking down at us, with a contemptuous smile, then stand up and dancing( for example the last dance of furina and focalors is the best matching, imagine arlecchino is having that dance with contemptuous smile and look at us up stairs next to the throne) this is exactly the feeling of that part, not what people talking about saddness. Is the absolute confidence as a parent who is having everything on her control( house of the hearth and we travelers). Back to the music, in the requiem part, then the kid background vocal fade away, left by the vocal and organ solo. This match with the little spoilers in 4.6 trailer. We just know arlecchino is having some plan where she has conflict with lynette and lyney etc. She is just like singing out her plan, describing its greatness. Then in 5:02 its like she finish her words, looking back at us, bring back to the fight, just like she is telling that:' now lets continue ' The peak in 5:13 is like she rise up her both hands with Palms up horizontaly. As an audiance, we should not bring our first impressions and expectations in listening to music, especialy for character/boss themes. In fact, we should try to understand whats the message that the theme wants to bring to us. A good theme isint related to type and whatever. Its only bad if its not related to the background of a person or event. Like you play happy song if someone die. And 4.6 is not out yet, we shouldnt draw conclusio immediately whether its a good ost or bad ost. Lets wait for the story quest of arlecchino and give some respect to the music composers in hoyomix, they have done a very good job in making numerous of theme and ost and songs in mihoyo. ( need to inform that each hoyoverse games have a independent department for making songs except the composers apply for moving to another team)

you don’t have to be a musical genius to dislike a piece of music. i’m an amateur composer/arranger and i hate the edm in phase 2. i get that it’s supposed to be representative of the character, but i still don’t like the way it sounds. everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

My only real gripe for this track is that I think phase 2 could have been extended a bit more to give each segment a bit more time. But this is just solid and better than most mobile games can ever aspire to be.
When I first heard it I didn’t really like the Theme because the past few themes have been huge bangers. But I’ve grown to enjoy it a lot and absolutely loved every second of it.

not that my two cents has any meaning here but i am also on the side that im disappointed more trap/edm has been used since yu peng chen left, almost as if the team has to make up for not being able to make stuff as unique as his with an orchestra, but with that aside - its definitely not wrong to assume they went this route because of arlecchino's character. what i mean is, everytime edm/trap has been used for a main drop and/or chorus for boss themes has always been when the enemy is abyssal, vastly non-human, or not belonging to teyvat. so maybe, i can let it slide if the music reflects her lore in this way. i just wish it was longer, i feel phase 2 couldve easily done something similar to childe and signora's themes having it incorporate the opera singing and reduce the dubstep with the assistance of more orchestral elements exactly at 5:30 onwards, wouldve helped tie it together more imo, the backup vocals shouldve overpowered. on an unrelated note, i am so so so so thrilled to finally hear them use a deeper female singing voice, it adds something new that other themes are yet to try out. continues to allow fatui themes to each sound different with voices that match the character.
Dude have you heard Fontaine music ? Like all of the leitmotifs of Fontaine, Furina and even Neuvilette. It's not really into EDM/Trap, they still enjoy being free and versatile in music styles. I have to admit though that I find that narwal bossfight and music is very dissapointing... Her's is quite impressive but too short.

Why does the first phase sound so much better in beta than in this version? There is too much overload in the sound. The second phase is gorgeous, although at the end it feels like you're playing Geometry Dash in some new Extreme Demon

Nah the dubstep is easily the best part, it gives such apocalyptic/destructive vibes which perfectly matches Arlecchino's boss fight. You should learn to appreciate EDM more.
Let's face it music is one of the most subjective thing ever. You can have the most vile music ever and some people would still like it. But what is objective is that older boss themes were almost all universally loved with very few snobs who thought they were bad, while Arlechchino's boss theme is kinda dividing opinions here, looking at the like/dislike ratio it's almost half/half. So it's either a drop in quality at hoyomix or just back luck(can't win them all), who knows? I guess will see how future music is going to be.
Honestly. I think it could have been improved upon if phase 2 was extended. I notice how it has a relative slow built up compared to alot of other boss tracks, and I doubt that the EDM solo that is kind of normal for some other tracks too would have been as bothersome by some. (That section takes only a quarter of the track but it feels like the song ends too soon afterwards). I doubt anyone would complain about that change for the matter. But who knows. That said, I can't shake off the feeling there is a small percentage that dislike the music because it is not up to the standard of how Yu-Peng Chen would have lead the direction of the track if he still were the lead contributor.

Scaramouche's theme was ok, but now Arlecchino's one has kinda lost the feeling of an actual Fatui Harbinger one. I'm not saying it's a bad Ost. It's just that they could have improved it to make her sound like more menacing opponent like Tartaglia or Signora... hopefully we will get that feeling back in the future, who knows?

Lets first talk about la signora and scara, before the ending, what in head of it is the telling of sad story and hard emotion feelings. their ending are fill with hated and rage and evil tone. Their story behind them is like the conductor of their theme, driving their movements. But arlecchino's is different. You can hear that she is the one who is conducting her own music( judged by the vocal singing to the last of the theme, then stop, follow by the fin of the orchestra) and on the last drop by the orchestra, she is looking at us again finishing her performance.
These all are what i feel from the theme, well let see if it really fits arlecchino in her story quest
And back to the question from the begining, music shouldnt be trap by what like consicous and sterotype. Music is like another form of story telling. It doesnt matter what kind of form, istrument involves in the music, what is the most important is the information told by the melody and the most direct feeling it brings to you. As an audiance, we should not bring our first impressions and expectations in listening to music, especialy for character/boss themes. In fact, we should try to understand whats the message that the theme wants to bring to us. A good theme isint related to type and whatever. Its only bad if its not related to the background of a person or event. Like you play happy song if someone die. And 4.6 is not out yet, we shouldnt draw conclusio immediately whether its a good ost or bad ost. Lets wait for the story quest of arlecchino and give some respect to the music composers in hoyomix, they have done a very good job in making numerous of theme and ost and songs in mihoyo. ( need to inform that each hoyoverse games have a independent department for making songs except the composers apply for moving to another team)

Nobody out here praising the progressive build-up in 2nd phase, the "snap" leading to the post drop organ part sounding absolutely menacing, just wa wa wa crying about the dubstep lmao. When I first heard it I didn’t really like the Theme because the past few themes have been huge bangers. But I’ve grown to enjoy it a lot and absolutely loved every second of it.

not that my two cents has any meaning here but i am also on the side that im disappointed more trap/edm has been used since yu peng chen left, almost as if the team has to make up for not being able to make stuff as unique as his with an orchestra, but with that aside - its definitely not wrong to assume they went this route because of arlecchino's character. what i mean is, everytime edm/trap has been used for a main drop and/or chorus for boss themes has always been when the enemy is abyssal, vastly non-human, or not belonging to teyvat. so maybe, i can let it slide if the music reflects her lore in this way. i just wish it was longer, i feel phase 2 couldve easily done something similar to childe and signora's themes having it incorporate the opera singing and reduce the dubstep with the assistance of more orchestral elements exactly at 5:30 onwards, wouldve helped tie it together more imo, the backup vocals shouldve overpowered.
on an unrelated note, i am so so so so thrilled to finally hear them use a deeper female singing voice, it adds something new that other themes are yet to try out. continues to allow fatui themes to each sound different with voices that match the character.
Dude have you heard Fontaine music ? Like all of the leitmotifs of Fontaine, Furina and even Neuvilette. It's not really into EDM/Trap, they still enjoy being free and versatile in music styles.
I have to admit though that I find that narwal bossfight and music is very dissapointing... Her's is quite impressive but too short.

Man the final part of phase 1 was better in the beta version
The theme probably isn't fatui-ish enough cause she despises other harbinhers and ultimately had no chioce after killing her "Mother"
Let's face it music is one of the most subjective thing ever. You can have the most vile music ever and some people would still like it.
But what is objective is that older boss themes were almost all universally loved with very few snobs who thought they were bad, while Arlechchino's boss theme is kinda dividing opinions here, looking at the like/dislike ratio it's almost half/half.
So it's either a drop in quality at hoyomix or just back luck(can't win them all), who knows? I guess will see how future music is going to be.
Agreed, this has been one the most hated genshin pieces, if not, the most hated.
Honestly. I think it could have been improved upon if phase 2 was extended. I notice how it has a relative slow built up compared to alot of other boss tracks, and I doubt that the EDM solo that is kind of normal for some other tracks too would have been as bothersome by some. (That section takes only a quarter of the track but it feels like the song ends too soon afterwards). I doubt anyone would complain about that change for the matter. But who knows.
That said, I can't shake off the feeling there is a small percentage that dislike the music because it is not up to the standard of how Yu-Peng Chen would have lead the direction of the track if he still were the lead contributor.
@@casualkris4806 felt the same way about the whale, the build up lasts for 80% of the piece just for it to lead to something that won’t even last half a minute, and in this piece’s case, it just gets interrupted by the edm part.
@@pete5423Yes, if you compare the climax of the signora with the opera with that of the arlecchino and the dubstep drop, the opera is a thousand times better and MATCHES what the theme is playing before, in arlecchino no, it just drops out of nowhere and then disappears, returning the music of the fatui

Its not bad...its just suuuuper generic. And i once again, beg of the hoyomix team, to STOP PUTTING TRAP(or any of its sub-genres) IN EVERYTHING! Adding trap =/= menacing and good. And not to mention my brother,an independent artist is more creative with the beats.

@mr.gemini814 I think he's right, previously Harbingers battle music was built like a song around the lemotiff, but since Genshin has changed the music producer I feel like I'm not fighting against a powerful organisation anymore. Scaramouche's theme was ok, but now Arlecchino's one has kinda lost the feeling of an actual Fatui Harbinger one. I'm not saying it's a bad Ost. It's just that they could have improved it to make her sound like more menacing opponent like Tartaglia or Signora... hopefully we will get that feeling back in the future, who knows?
