In spite of the issues you had sewing the Icelander Jacket, it really does look lovely on you. Thanks for the tips on sewing boiled wool. You've given me the confidence to try some for this winter (Southern Hemisphere). Extra credits to you for the added pockets.
Oh, thank you! I am almost sure that I had all those length problems because I sew the center front panels with 1cm SA and in the original pattern that is actually sewn with a 6mm. Again, the written instructions don't mention that( the original pattern is sewn with overlapping seams), and I did not take the time to see all the video steps, as it is an easy garment to make. I do love it and would definitely make it again in a softer fabric too. Boiled wool is really easy to sew, you will love it!
Your garments are so impressive and beautiful! I really want to give the Knipmode pattern a try. (I just realized that almost 50 years ago I arrived to live in the Netherlands for a year. I learned to read, write and understand the language fairly well but after all this time, not so much). Thank you for this review.
You know, I came in The Netherlands in 2005, and I was thinking, this language is so difficult, I can´t do it :) After a while I realized I HAD to do it :), definitely did not learn it in one year tough :)) It is handy to know different languages right ? :) Knipmode have some free patterns , you could give one a try .
I love boiled wool fabric. It is hard to find in the USA, and expensive. I have a few pieces in my stash. I have also made my own by washing wool knit jersey fabrics ( in my stash from the 1990's) in a top loading washing machine with very hot fabric and lots of agitation. I am always looking for pattern ideas for my precious boiled wool fabric. I love the two cardigans you made. Does the waist seaming in the front of the Islander pattern add any shaping, or is it only decorative? Burda magazine sometimes has patterns recommended for boiled wool. I believe they call it "fulled loden cloth" on the English language website and magazines.
Wow, very interesting, making your own, and indeed precious! No, it does not add any shaping, I think is more a visual thing, the side seam is not shaped, interesting though, that that middle panel of that front, gives the idea of shaping. Yes, that sounds like boiled wool, in German that would be "will walkloden" or "loden".
Silvia, a trebuit sa caut un pic pe net sa aflu ce este " boiled wool" in romana 😊 in Romania se numeste " lana fiarta" . Pasla sau fetru este in engleza " Felt " Problema mea este ca am invatat croitorie ( terminologia) in Engleza si sincera sa fiu cred ca nu sunt in stare sa explic prea multe in Romana🤣 Oricum, lana fiarta ( suna ciudat 🤣) este un material super si de lucrat si de purtat!
@@CameliasSewingChanneleu învăț sa Cos in orice alta limba decât romana, tocmai de aia. Lâna fiarta suna ca naiba! Dar M-as risca sa fac ceva din lâna pentru mine, un paltonaș frumos de primăvara cu Princess seams și o culoare frumoasa un verde crud cu floricele (exista asa ceva?)
Love the purple boiled wool, looks really good, and adore the sleeves on the camel one x
Thank you, Debbie!
