When they follow the glide, even if they come next to the kayak, figured 8 the bait, or move it faster around the kayak for a minute. Sometimes it will trick them. Just never stop the bait really close to you. Good video man!
wacky rig those big ones in the grass. longggg casts with how shallow and clear it is. Also a weedless Yamatunuki with no weight would be killer. That's just my opinion
In Washington state the state will pay you to catch pike minnow and dispose of them because they eat Salmon smolt , I think the either pay you by the pound or by how many you catch. Mostly in the Columbia river basin. Great video Greg .
Greg, stay positive bro! Hopefully it'll change for the better, for you. I'd bring all your weapons, out for this tournament. I'd even consider running the 1103, in case you need to cover some extra water, a little faster. Can't wait for your pre-fish. 😎 🛶 🎣
When catching those small bass on spoon, would upgrading to larger spoon be a option? Also those bigger fish following your glide bait, would having a wacky senko at the ready to throw next to the glide be a option? Digging your videos.
Try a Hoover rig, look it up. Been having great results on my deep water reservoirs . Try and match the hatch. I drop the rig between the bottom and the bait ball and usually they will come up from the bottom to eat it
P.S. on my comment yesterday below, I just read on Western Bass site that your final 3 keepers for Day 2 came within the last 15 minutes of the tournament, unreal! The fishing gods were with you for sure and AOY wrapped up, it was also great seeing the comments from Paul Mata about you and your willingness to share the same area, that is true sportsmanship and yet another reason you deserved the AOY, well done Greg.
I know its a tough thing to say but if you had a livescope you probably could follow the school of fish. I personally think that if they sell it you should be able to utilize it in tournaments
I love your videos but especially when you're in Berryessa because it's my go to. I was bank fishing the 26th and couldn't buy a bite. I would have thought they were moving up but didn't see any. Looking forward to the tournament video 🎉
My morning of coffee and Taquitos isn't complete without watching one of your well-edited videos! There should be a law against dinky fish or non-bass species LOL We're rooting for you no matter what 🤗
I would be willing to bet that the big fish are eating those small bass and pike minnow. Keep throwing the deps, add a hudd to the arsenal. Fish those weed lines and maybe try flipping that grass. Maybe size up to a magnum spoon
I love the videos as always...It's good to know I'm not the only one struggling to catch decent fish, for fish of any size for that matter...They have completely turned off on my local river! I'm ready to start throwing the jerkbait this weekend, i'm hoping that will be the deal!
Have you ever tried jigging a blade for those deeper fish? Our Australian Bass school deep quite a lot and an erratic pop thrown into a consistent popping can be pretty effective
Just think about it ,in 3-5years all those dinks you were catchin are gonna be 3-5 pounders lol. Yeah bright sunny day fish were holding tight to cover. Slow your roll my man. Slow deeper jig , or suspending jerk baits. Thanks for the video Greg can't wait for the next.
Try a Carolina rig. 18 to 24 inch leader with a curly tailed worm or lizard. Real it in slower than a snail. It's boring but extremely productive for deep bass.
Have you ever tried fishing with one of those magnum humongous spoons? I’ve seen them work and bought one but haven’t had the courage to throw it- at least it would sort out the ones that are time wasters
Idk anything about bass fishing other than crappies here andd there ? But i never see greg fishing deep but im from minnesota any tips for catchin bass in minnesota ? I like towalk and fish i dont have kyack.
Mr. Greg . . . Good Grief, when I saw this newly uploaded video, I was hoping 🤞it would be of your practice days . . . PSYCH! Nice "tease" 😂! Am following your advice and NOT reading the "Comments" as to potentially NOT let me know the results of the TOC / AOY prematurely. From seeing when this was recorded and then the time to release the video, it definitely provides us viewers the time and effort required to put out quality content. As an Engineer, I'm always reminding the Junior Engineers "Quality takes Time" . . . seems like your utilizing this belief as well 👍. Not sure if there will be two videos, one recapping you and your crew's practice days and another to recap the TOC and AOY results, or just one long video to recap all of it . . . but either way, anxiously 🥵awaiting the next video. "Thanks" for the STELLAR bass fishing content 🤙!
Yo Greg... You probly don't care bout the million comments your gonna get.... But usually when I use a glide and the fish come up enough to be interested, I always throw a plopper and the seem to come up and hit it. Just past experience of mine. Glides never sink to low so that shows me they are interested in coming up. This could be 100% off in 2 weeks tho. Tight lines
Said it before; little fish lie. You hit bass kindergarten and then the land of giants. Tough. Larger baits and lower light levels could help catch the big models. It’s the chess game brother. Keep at it. Good luck!!
Many a times, I say out loud to my phone” throw a senko!” Lol I know you have way more experience on the water than I do, it’s just the novice in me saying it. You have to admit, working a green pumpkin senko like a jerk bait can get some of those bigger LMB to bite.
If you know that spoon was catching the wrong fish you should have changed up the whole strategy and started fishing bigger bass lures , I think you just like the fact that you were just catching. 🤙🎣🤙🎣
Gotta kill those pike minnows ... off cameras of course ,Greg there invasive eat alot of the natural habitat just saying ... always enjoy the videos thanks for all the content over the last however many years keep up the good work my dude !!! Cheers hazy little thing 🎉🎉🎉 all my beer guys! Coffee is cool to no offense to the coffee crew
Pikeminnow are such a nuisance fish! They're so bad for other fish populations that there is a bounty on them in the Columbia River and some people even make their living on catching and turning in dead ones. A lot of bass fishermen in Washington especially hate the Pikeminnow because they've been proven to eat a ton of Salmon smolt but our state blames bass and removed limits on the Columbia River. Our state is also full of morons that believe that bass are to blame for the decline in salmon numbers so we have a bunch of ignorant assholes here that will illegally keep and kill tons of bass out of lakes with no regards for the actual limits. They're also gillnetting on some of the lakes to kill bass when bass are not the problem. That being said, a lot of anglers here will not release a pikeminnow alive.
Hie Greg my name is Jerry im from Zimbabwe i have been watching your fishing videos on youtube i need help man i love fishing but i can't afford some of the things can you help with some of your old fishing kit jiggs rubber werms anything you can saveg for me please help
Or maybe they don’t want the spoon ? Your not that great off shore bass fisherman you need to step that part of your game up if you can’t fish deep you want be AOY STRSIGHT FACTS
Try 2.8 keitech with your Underspin.
Coffee and kayaks, seeing a Blanchard video drop makes the day start so much better. Compensates for having to drag kids out of bed screaming lol
There's goes my favorite fishing buddie right there Greg Blanchard 😎🤙🔥💯
I wonder if changing your drop shot worm to a baitfish profile if there focused on bait would have made a difference
When they follow the glide, even if they come next to the kayak, figured 8 the bait, or move it faster around the kayak for a minute. Sometimes it will trick them. Just never stop the bait really close to you. Good video man!
Good tip!

Always a fun time when your video drops. :) You should get with Oliver Ngy for a glide bait clinic. That would make an amazing Collab. :)
Thanks Greg! Can’t wait to see the tournament.
Try some Bait Fuel, it has helped me catch 215 bass 2 to 4 lbs this year. I didn't count smaller fish.

Spoiler alert..
Can’t wait for the tournament vid and AOY results. Fingers crossed. You have put on the work. So!?!?
You know your plan & it worked! Way to pick it a part! Thxs
Great video! Best of luck on tournament day!
A lot can change in 2 weeks! Best of luck in the tournament!🤙
I know its a tough thing to say but if you had a livescope you probably could follow the school of fish. I personally think that if they sell it you should be able to utilize it in tournaments
Another great video Greg! Rooting for you!!!!👍🏼

Those pikeminnows aka Squaw fish are nasty.. I do wish they would get bigger. Imagen catching a 4 fter!!
Greg I think it’s time to get the Scope, live scope is king these days
Hang in there Greg B.
Love the content and everything you do! Keep up the great work
Thank you sir!
Hi, I think you should try fishing with a spintail type of bait.... Worked for me! Thanks for your videos!
My morning of coffee and Taquitos isn't complete without watching one of your well-edited videos! There should be a law against dinky fish or non-bass species LOL We're rooting for you no matter what 🤗
Great video 🤌🫡
Boy I hope you tried a glide not so big, like a 180 size
Early gang. Will tune in later when I have time to sit. Getting ready for work now.
I would be willing to bet that the big fish are eating those small bass and pike minnow. Keep throwing the deps, add a hudd to the arsenal. Fish those weed lines and maybe try flipping that grass. Maybe size up to a magnum spoon

Jerkbaits and this cold weather could be the ticket!
@@GregBlanchardFishing Thats what i'm hoping for! I had really good luck with jerkbaits last fall and winter so hopefully it will work out again...
Hey Greg, see my post on Western Bass regarding your AOY for Yak-A-Bass, congrats again!
Good morning Greg thanks for another great video you're fueling my dreams
Have you ever tried jigging a blade for those deeper fish? Our Australian Bass school deep quite a lot and an erratic pop thrown into a consistent popping can be pretty effective
Yep, not a whole ton but personally have had better luck jigging blades when its end of Nov-Jan here or when the water temps get to be around 50 F
My 16 year old self giggles every time you talk about how fun the tug is haha
😂
Watching you throwing the A-Rig. Just remind me that I lost my swimbait-A-Rig setup 😢😪
I've been getting them good on the bank 1/2oz PBJ football jig, and burning an lv500 parallel had 14lbs best 5..
Can’t stop the glide when you see a fish. How often are the baitfish just giving up and stopping when being chased
That is the type of fishing a livescope excells at.
Alright Greg. Thanks for the video. I have to agree. That one big bass you started out with was just a lucky loner i think.
For sure, lake berry is tricky like that and you can never rely on a spot even if you catch a good one as these fish are constantly moving!
I would definitely try using bigger spoons
Try a Carolina rig. 18 to 24 inch leader with a curly tailed worm or lizard. Real it in slower than a snail. It's boring but extremely productive for deep bass.
Man I would try a lipliss or a crank the bigger ones might bite ya never know. You got this
I would go to the grass lakes or find grass this time of year it has the most nutrients for everything that swims
Try some deeper running larger crank baits
Man, tough lake.
You could have made a lot of money had you caught those Pike Minnows here on the Columbia River. We have a bounty on them.
Good morning guys
Have you ever tried fishing with one of those magnum humongous spoons? I’ve seen them work and bought one but haven’t had the courage to throw it- at least it would sort out the ones that are time wasters

Awesome vid! Northern Cal fishery is way better then SoCal. I'm missing out!!!
Anyone know what big bait that was and rod he was using? I don't see it in description.

We here in Wisconsin call those white fish. Very good table fair.
Weightless senko or top water
I feel like every time you use that a rig and look away while you're reeling. You get a fish lol
Said it before; little fish lie. You hit bass kindergarten and then the land of giants. Tough. Larger baits and lower light levels could help catch the big models. It’s the chess game brother. Keep at it. Good luck!!
Certified pike minnow slayer 😂
In 20 years that *may* be a good fishery.
Just tied up and a rig and a spoon lol
☕️ here we go....
Greg’s up! Where is my coffee!
Silly Greg trying to figure out fish 😅
Sweet!
Going mediating today wish me luck
Which lake has the world record, is it in California? I think sol
Castaic
Keep throwing that "fish finder"around and your going to end up breaking your p.b. real soon..good luck on the AOY tournament bro
I definitely wouldn’t stay to catch pike minnows I’d scour the lake for bass like I intended
Gregg use a wnder worm black and blue or red and black 7 inch worm every one using water melon
Let's go!
Many a times, I say out loud to my phone” throw a senko!” Lol I know you have way more experience on the water than I do, it’s just the novice in me saying it. You have to admit, working a green pumpkin senko like a jerk bait can get some of those bigger LMB to bite.
haha not at all man, I think sometimes i get too comfortable fishing (my norm) fast and realistically should just slow down.
LFG
If I’m pre-fishing for TOC ? I’m getting away from the squawfish
MR Clean

Or maybe they don’t want the spoon ? Your not that great off shore bass fisherman you need to step that part of your game up if you can’t fish deep you want be AOY STRSIGHT FACTS
Try a jerk bait Greg
😴
Maann, I thought it was like "off limits" cause of dropping water levels. 🥲🤣
Great video Greg! Thanks for letting us come along. Cant wait for next video. Congratulations!
