I agree, too, Sharon. This was amongst the tunes that meant the world to me. I was in the Marines, stationed in the desert. That summer I had the albums from Queen and Kansas on vinyl serving as the backbone of the music that got me through that duty station. In fact, 1975-76 were phenomenal for music - Peter Frampton, Boston, Nazareth, Steve Miller...
There is no bad Queen song. You could pick any, and it's good. Somebody to Love - Fat Bottom Girls - We Will Rock You - We Are the Champions. You likely know the last two from sports events.
I have loved Queen since a teenager - I would've agreed with "no bad Queen song" -until just recently I heard a short clip on a car commercial -- a song I had never heard, but I immediately recognized Brian's guitar - and then Freddie's vocals.. song is called "Tear it up" - and I thought "well, I don't know this one - let me look it up" -gotta say, when I listened to the "official video -with lyrics" - it was NOT good -- Brian wrote it, apparently - but the lyrics were ridiculously simple and actually.. like... what? c'mon Brian - you are a genius -?? - and even the song in total was kind of awful.. and, well... lame... Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest showmen ever, but if you thought this was good, you have GOT to watch the official video/studio version. It is even more incredible! Queen was an amazingly talented group from the top down!
Queen is from my teens and I'm 61 now! This was back when there was no Auto tuner or studio tricks etc... They are pure talent, all around! It doesn't get any better than Queen 👑😊 P. S. Please check out the studio version of this, there you will see pure talent!
Their early albums used used to have "No synthesizer" emblazoned on the cover. Even the violin sounds from "Bicycle Race" was actually played on the guitar.
Queen is the whole band. All of the guys are considered in the top echelons of players, or whichever instruments they play. They all also have college degrees. The guitar player, Brian May, has a PhD in Astrophysics. The drummer, Roger Taylor, has a Business degree, The bassist, John Deacon's degree, is in Electrical engineering. He designed a amplifier specifically for Brian's style of playing. I believe that Deacy amps are still being made. Freddie's degree was in Graphic Arts and Design.
Freddie Mercury is the lead singer, and it was he who wrote this masterpiece. It was ahead of its time in 1975. I can still remember the first time I heard it come on the radio, I sat down in front of it and couldn’t tear myself away. I was 16 years old then and I’d never heard anything like it before. Good on you, for someone who has only ever been exposed to rap, I think it’s wonderful to see you trying to broaden your horizons. You are in for a wild ride, because rock music from the 70’s and 80’s could take you on a psychedelic trip for sure. I love Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd but Queen are my favourite, especially Freddie who was an amazing man, both personally and professionally. A creative genius, taken from us too early, and very sadly missed still to this day. Please listen to Somebody to Love at this same concert in Montreal. Freddie is considered to be the best vocalist in rock, if you watch it you’ll understand why
They are one of the most educated band there is.Freddy Mercury(singer) has a degree in graphic design and illustration Brian May,guitar, has a degree in physics with graduate work in astronomy Roger Taylor has a degree in Biology John Deacon first class honors in Electronics.
Brian May.. a masters degree in Astrophysics and who has worked with NASA, who preferred to earn his living playing guitar. And aren’t we glad he did. Voted best rock guitarist just last year. Genius
@@Spazzmatazzz Yep. Dr. Brian May is a true Renaissance man - Singer/songwriter/musician, working astrophysicist, animal rights advocate, and he's developed some other projects and published some books as well. And he somehow managed to actively work on a project with NASA while on a world tour with Roger and Adam Lambert pre-pandemic. He didn't just decide to stop doing astrophysics and be a rock star - he actually did both. Does both. Present tense. He is both one of the greatest rock guitarists in the world AND a working scientist. And he's in his 70s and still going strong. Kind of impressive.
I don't know why... I understand that people had different upbringings and different household music tastes.... but every time someone says they've never heard Bohemian Rhapsody it just floors me. Like... what? At the very least, it's part of the movie "Wayne's World", but I suppose I'm getting old now and "Wayne's World" is almost 30 years old. But then, something like the entire audience of 65,000 at a Green Day concert in Hyde Park, London, England sing all of the lyrics and all is right with the world again :) That's a cool video by the way. Green Day actually uploaded it to their channel. The crowd is singing the entire song just before Green Day took the stage. Totally fun and goosebump-y. th-cam.com/video/cZnBNuqqz5g/w-d-xo.html
I was at that Green Day gig and singing along. Gave me goosebumps at the time and that is after having seen Queen live back in the 80s. They were as good as you can imagine
Lady Gaga named herself after a Queen song... These guys are legend. You can ask anyone my age where he was and what he was doing, when they heard that Freddie Mercury died. They will all remember it.
That may be true but I found it very interesting that Gaga is also the name of a Babylonian deity and Mercury is a Roman deity and they are both messenger Gods ---- I do find that to be very intriguing --- makes you wonder
Hello again, Sweetie! Some thoughts about Queen, and Freddy Mercury, from this old broad- for what they're worth. Freddy was taken from us all too soon, as one of the early well-known victims of the AIDS epidemic, dying on November 24th, 1991. No, the song wasn't describing his struggles with the disease, but was written in 1975 (I was 9!), long before the disease came about. He was diagnosed in 1987, and kept it secret from the public until the night before he died, not just because of the stigma attached to anyone with a diagnosis at the time, but because he had hoped a cure would be discovered before his death. Queen was one of the greatest bands of all time, in my opinion- they certainly broke down musical barriers and successfully blended an operatic style with modern rock in a way that garnered them fans which spanned a huge spectrum of musical genres. There was never the like before, and never will be their like, again. They did the soundtrack for the movie "Highlander" (1986) by the way.. a great and terrible film, and one of my personal favorites.
@@marcialavine1272 And one mustn't forget BRIAN BLESSED (Voltan) and his scenery-chewing. The art-deco scenery looked like something straight out of the original comics, and Dino De Laurentis was in his happy comfortable place with production, being able to indulge in the eye-poppingly bold palates and visual drama of costuming the iconic roles presented by the original comics and old cliff-hangar serials.
@@brigittereulet6522 Yet everyone also knows "Flash" from TV commercials, possibly even more than from the film. It's one of those Queen songs that everyone has heard at least some of but they have no idea who it's by or what it's from.
Freddie was a musical genius. There are 4 members in the band but Freddie is the Greatest Performer. Note how long this music is and realize it was an uphill battle for the studio to release to radio. I like Hammer to Fall, We Will Rock You (as followed by) We Are the Champions. These guys are icons and so sad we lost Freddie all too soon.
I agree with many here, who have said you need, NEED, to listen to the studio/album version...while this is great, the studio version is a phenomenal experience all on its own.
The rabbit hole is deep. Their final album, "Innuendo", is highly underated and extremely moving when you know what he was going thru while recording the album.
Im so glad you let Freddie just do his thing from start to finish and just appreciated the sheer talent of this guy - one of the best performers ever. I was lucky enough to see him at his last gig at Knebworth in England in August 1986. I miss Freddie even now in 2024
Great reaction! The song is actually about Freddie coming out to his family - the death of his previous life. He didn’t want to disappoint his parents (“Didn’t mean to make you cry”), but about needing to live authentically. Queen is one of the greatest bands of all time! Absolutely incredible live. You *have* to check out their set from Live Aid! It was rated the greatest performance of all time. They weren’t even scheduled to perform until a week before, and Freddie had a throat infection & went against doctors orders to perform. Legendary!

Thanks, Jay! This video is a live performance, which is great, but... you really must revisit the *studio* *version* of the song with Amber... because the live version has some key elements missing. I think the studio version is one of the best-produced songs ever... the harmonies, the layering... a real gem. 💎 #RobSquadReactions #BohemianRhapsody #Queen
Did Freddie Mercury have the most perfect voice? While a typical vibrato will fluctuate between 5.4 Hz and 6.9 Hz, Mercury's was a massive 7.04 Hz. All in all, Freddie Mercury had one of the most powerful voices ever known.
Interestingly, when the movie “Wayne’s World “ came out, it featured Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody which caused a resurgence on the radios with callers asking for Bohemian Rap City.
Queen is at their best live-- that being said, I totally recommend giving the studio version of this song a listen for this track in particular. A lot going on with the technical side of things that they were able to create in the studio. ❤️
Crying tears of joy! Getting to see you enjoy a song the first time, it’s like I got to hear it the first time again! You are doing a beautiful thing! Thank you!
My 45 year old son became a fan of Queen when he was five years old when he heard, We Are The Champions, Another One Bites The Dust & We Will Rock You on a jukebox at a restaurant we went to. He still remembers listening to those songs at that restaurant so long ago. The restaurant is still standing, the jukebox is no more. So sad!
Awesome reaction, it is great that you are trying different music! Queen is one of the biggest artist of all time, they are the 4th best selling artist of all time, they are British band that was created in 1970. The genre of rock is Progressive rock, it was really a rock opera. The song is about someone who kills a man, and he gives himself over to the authorities, in the end he accepts his fate. The songs goes through the 5 stages of grieve. Bohemian Rhapsody is still one of the most popular songs, it recently received diamond status in America. Queen has a massive catalog and they had over 60 songs that made it onto the charts during Freddie Mercury's life. They did any genre of music, some Queen songs you would likely recognise is Another One Bites The Dust, I Want It All, We Are The Champions and Rock You.
@@glennleader8880 yes I agree, the actual title is 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light'. The whole album is good but each song on it deserves it's own reaction

Queen was a rocking band with alot of rocking songs like "we are The champions" and "we will rock you", ect. And this gives you an opportunity for a future crossover because the song "under pressure" was written and preformed by queen and David Bowie together.🙂
I watched a Queen documentary recently that said that this song was about Freddie coming out as gay. The man he killed is the man everyone thought they knew. He was worried that he would lose all his fans and fame therefore believing he would be figuratively executed for killing the man they knew. Instead, we loved him even more. The studio version and the official video for it is more powerful, I believe. Also, Pentatonix does a great cover of this song. They are an a cappella group, which is a whole other rabbit hole for you to go down!
Holy shit after reading your comment I've never heard The song before! And I've loved this song for year's. Great comment, thanks so much. Opened my eyes. 👍

Legends. Queen. You won't be disappointed going down this rabbit hole! Freddie Mercury is nothing but amazing..this was back when musicians actually sang and played their own instruments. no auto tune!
I remember when this song came out. We all just were sort of stunned after hearing it the first time. We did the same thing as you said "I dont even know what they were saying in that middle part but it was cool" Nobody had ever heard a song so unique as Bohemian Rapshody...nor since
This wasn't the 'official version' of Queen's video. This was a live concert recording. Find the official version and be sure to wear your Beats. It will blow your mind!
We had an advantage back then when listening to our music: it was pretty common to just lay back on the floor, your bed, whatever and just close your eyes and truly listen to music. It sounds silly but i believe that makes a difference. The music had far more harmony lines, interesting lyrics and melodies. I still remember hearing “Bohemian Rhapsody” for the first time on the radio. I was about thirteen and was blown away and slightly mystified all at the same time. I think my generation had a broader musical experience because the radio stations - at least in my region of Canada - played quite a variety of genres.
I don't care how many times you hear this. You can't NOT sing to at least some of it. You can't NOT get goosebumps all over. You can't NOT feel this down in your guts and soul.

Logically I know that there are people out there, like you, who have only been around one genre of music... but my mind can't conceive of a life like that. I was surrounded by music of every genre, literally every single kind. The older I get and the more I look at social media I realize I was raised in a blessed environment. I had a part time job at age 19 digging graves in a cemetery. I had a pick-up truck with the radio blaring while I was digging when Bohemian Rhapsody came on for the first time. I was down about 3 or 4 feet in the grave when I climbed out and ran to truck because it was the most amazing song I ever heard. I was in shock about what I was hearing.

Great song and great review! I know this was from early on but it's hard not to notice that you recorded this one in mono ... probably one of the MOST important songs to do in stereo! There's alot of back and forth between right and left audio in this song. So if you and Amber haven't rerecorded this it might be a good one to go back and listen to. Well, now listening further, the song is in stereo! So LoL! But you could do it again with the studio version. It's quite a bit different. Also ... "Oh, it's a DUDE!" ... this is priceless! 1st "You are blessed" video? Love it man!
Oh My G*d! 65 people put a thumbs down on this? DO YOU HAVE EARS? Freddie is the #1 SHOWMAN OF ALL TIME. Dang. I regret never seeing them live in concert. RIP, Freddie.
I loved Freddie’s staggering talent and have huge respect for his body of work but I’m not convinced he was the greatest showman ever. Sammy Davis Jr. was an all-around legendary showman in another genre of music and there are a few more (my memory is misfiring right now!). Again, Freddie was incredible. Aside: I watched a documentary on Queen and one of the band members told how that Freddie had an upright piano as the headboard for his bed. He would wake up with music in his dreams and, laying on his back, would put his arms behind his head and play the music from his dreams! He would be playing it with opposite hands from the normal position (that is, with his hands in front of him) and he would work on the tune, cementing it into his head before he would get out of bed and write it down. That’s a genius!!! What an incredible talent!
Jordan, cry; if the music makes you cry, then cry. Let it move you wherever it takes you, you will not be alone. If anyone thinks less of you for crying, they don't get it and they are not worth listening to. (Yes, I know, it is damned hard to reach that level, but it is true nevertheless.)

That summer I had the albums from Queen and Kansas on vinyl serving as the backbone of the music that got me through that duty station. In fact, 1975-76 were phenomenal for music - Peter Frampton, Boston, Nazareth, Steve Miller...
@@rapsack7058 I think they meant his voice.
Just imagine....
You wouldn't have listened to ANY of it before. It's so cool watching you hear my childhood for the first time.

There is no bad Queen song. You could pick any, and it's good. Somebody to Love - Fat Bottom Girls - We Will Rock You - We Are the Champions. You likely know the last two from sports events.
I'm in love with my car is great
I have loved Queen since a teenager - I would've agreed with "no bad Queen song" -until just recently I heard a short clip on a car commercial -- a song I had never heard, but I immediately recognized Brian's guitar - and then Freddie's vocals.. song is called "Tear it up" - and I thought "well, I don't know this one - let me look it up" -gotta say, when I listened to the "official video -with lyrics" - it was NOT good -- Brian wrote it, apparently - but the lyrics were ridiculously simple and actually.. like... what? c'mon Brian - you are a genius -?? - and even the song in total was kind of awful.. and, well... lame... I hate to admit it -- but there IS one "bad" Queen song.. at least in my estimation... lol
"Bicycle Race" :)
@@GinMae There's a lot of Queen that I don't like at all. their hits were great but most of their music isn't that good imo.
@@kalmlykeabomb Well, to each his own -- I personally like some of the non-hits better.. but that's just me -- hope you enjoy at least some of their work -- it is definitely not ALL good - lol
Was even more eerie and heart wrentchingly good after his passing. rip. A huge talent for sure.
61 also. There is so much good music waiting Tobe rediscovered
Freddie's degree was in Graphic Arts and Design.
they could all play multiple instruments too
Freddie Mercury is the lead singer, and it was he who wrote this masterpiece.
The Live Aid performance is absolute perfection.
1975 Released It Rocked the 70s when it was bran new
Not one single weak link in that band, all masters of their craft.. THE Greatest of all time, RIP Fred, still missed
They are one of the most educated band there is.Freddy Mercury(singer) has a degree in graphic design and illustration
Brian May,guitar, has a degree in physics with graduate work in astronomy
Roger Taylor has a degree in Biology
John Deacon first class honors in Electronics.
Brian May actually has a PhD in astrophysics.
That's Dr. May to us laypeople. ☺
Brian May.. a masters degree in Astrophysics and who has worked with NASA, who preferred to earn his living playing guitar. And aren’t we glad he did. Voted best rock guitarist just last year. Genius
Dr. May, if I presume?
Thank you for sharing this!!! ✨💞😍
Agree!!!! Lol
I've watched that Green Day video.... you're right, absolute chills!! Shows the love we have for Freddie!!!
I was at that Green Day gig and singing along. Gave me goosebumps at the time and that is after having seen Queen live back in the 80s. They were as good as you can imagine
I watch that Hyde Park clip at least once a week !
Lady Gaga named herself after a Queen song... These guys are legend. You can ask anyone my age where he was and what he was doing, when they heard that Freddie Mercury died. They will all remember it.
Radio Ga Ga .... great song!
That may be true but I found it very interesting that Gaga is also the name of a Babylonian deity and Mercury is a Roman deity and they are both messenger Gods ---- I do find that to be very intriguing --- makes you wonder
I think Freddie Mercury is the best rock singer of all time.
Roger got the idea for the song from his young son saying "Radio Caca". That is still in the original song along with 'blah, blah' and 'goo goo'
@@kathleensmith3555 Very interesting!! Hmmmmmm
Bohemian Rhapsody evokes so much emotion in so many people, it really is an all time masterpiece.
Every time Freddy opens his mouth to sing he proves he's a legend
No kidding.
Yess. Love this man
Hello again, Sweetie!
Everyone forgets Queen did the sound track for the movie Flash Gordon.
@@brigittereulet6522 Not me! I love that movie, as bad as it was, because I adored Max Von Sydow- RIP
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
a rhapsody is multiple genres put together in one movement
Freddie was a musical genius. There are 4 members in the band but Freddie is the Greatest Performer. Note how long this music is and realize it was an uphill battle for the studio to release to radio. I like Hammer to Fall, We Will Rock You (as followed by) We Are the Champions. These guys are icons and so sad we lost Freddie all too soon.
I agree with many here, who have said you need, NEED, to listen to the studio/album version...while this is great, the studio version is a phenomenal experience all on its own.
Freddy Mercury was an incredible singer. Very few could replicate what he could do.
No one could replicate Fredy
The rabbit hole is deep. Their final album, "Innuendo", is highly underated and extremely moving when you know what he was going thru while recording the album.
That was when his AIDS was at its worst, correct me if I am wrong.
Same thing applies to "Made in Heaven", which is actually their final album, though released after Freddie died.
@@Andyvan92110 Thank you for the correction. I was struggling with old man memories.
The song Innuendo could be considered a successor to Bohemian Rhapsody, having a similar structure.
I love watching people expand their horizons! Queen is inarguably one of the all-time great rock band. So influential!
Im so glad you let Freddie just do his thing from start to finish and just appreciated the sheer talent of this guy - one of the best performers ever. I was lucky enough to see him at his last gig at Knebworth in England in August 1986. I miss Freddie even now in 2024
So interesting, your experience putting rap on the back burner, learning and groovin with the great music of the 70’s+
Somebody to Love, live in Montreal 1981!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Legendary!
I have a question that still confuses me but my mom and my gramma told me it was about him coming out but also he had possibly infected someone else? I still get emotional cing his videos 💜 i can listen 2 their music all day long but idk y watching him (them all but Freddie more 😢) but its just something nobody has ever confirmed or denied 4 me...
@@cplaza81 This song was from the 70’s, long before he knew he was sick.

Jay, you're right to be speechless - this is an epic song, part ballad, part opera, part rock. As other comments below have said, please do a reaction again with Amber to the original studio version and official video, which is incredible.
QUEEN: Freddie Mercury-piano/vocals, Brian May-guitar/vocals, Roger Taylor-drums/vocals, John Deacon-bass
Baffles me when I realize so many people haven’t heard of Queen, he would’ve been even more of a legend than he is now if he would’ve lived longer
Did Freddie Mercury have the most perfect voice?
While a typical vibrato will fluctuate between 5.4 Hz and 6.9 Hz,
Mercury's was a massive 7.04 Hz. All in all, Freddie Mercury had
one of the most powerful voices ever known.
This is what's meant by visionary. Absolute genius 🙏
Interestingly, when the movie “Wayne’s World “ came out, it featured Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody which caused a resurgence on the radios with callers asking for Bohemian Rap City.
I just found this channel today and glad I did and having said that, Live Aid is considered the greatest live performance by any band ever.
I love the look of confusion/bewilderment during the operatic section - Queen are a truly unique band in terms of sound and style!
Queen is at their best live-- that being said, I totally recommend giving the studio version of this song a listen for this track in particular. A lot going on with the technical side of things that they were able to create in the studio. ❤️

I remember when this song came out. We all just were sort of stunned after hearing it the first time. We did the same thing as you said "I dont even know what they were saying in that middle part but it was cool"
Nobody had ever heard a song so unique as Bohemian Rapshody...nor since
This wasn't the 'official version' of Queen's video.
He, Freddie Mercury, is known for drawing everybody in in ways no other performer has ever managed , so give them a chance and let Yourself to be blown away😂
Logically I know that there are people out there, like you, who have only been around one genre of music... but my mind can't conceive of a life like that. I was surrounded by music of every genre, literally every single kind. The older I get and the more I look at social media I realize I was raised in a blessed environment. It makes me so excited for you as you delve deeper into the music of this country and this world. You have no idea the ride you just got on... kinda wish I was just starting as well.

They made a movie about the making of this song a few years ago. It won 4 Oscars and was nominated for Best Picture.
I think one of Freddy Mercury's greatest vocal performances is *Somebody To Love* from Live Aid at Wembley.... hell their whole set rocks!!!! Definitely worth checking out! Love Peace and Happiness Y'all!!
They didn’t actually sing Somebody to Love at Live Aid. The best versions are this Montreal concert, or Milton Keynes both excellent although Montreal seems to be the most popular.
a good live version. but i would recommend to make another reaction to the original video full version (including the acapella intro with the piano setting in) ... and with amber, i love watching both of you reacting together ... it's one of the best songs ever written and it would deserve a second appearance - and it's almost 1 year since you uploaded this would, would be a nice anniversary surprise for your viewers.

I would have been heartbroken if you hadn't liked this song!! LOL. There are SO many Queen songs that are amazing. I hope you will check out many more. At some point you should check out the Live Aid concert. I KNOW you will get a ton of requests for it. But I think you should listen to a few more of their songs, first. Quieen is a group. Freddy Mercury is the lead singer. He died of Aids many years ago. (This song wasn't about that though)
This band is amazing! Their harmony blows my mind!
