Such a wonderful thing to see these young people playing and carrying on the traditions of folk music. It is well researched that learning an instrument improves overall learning ability as well as giving kids a sense of achievement and worth. Kudos to Floyd Country store for hosting this program and to Foghorn Stringband for promoting it.
The Floyd VA kids never disappoint. They more than hold their own playing with this fine group of adult musicians.

I listened to this and jammed. Then I turned on my amp replayed it and hand a out of body experience. Good lord have mercy.
Bluegrass is in good hands. So awesome to see the music coming down and being embraced by young kids like this! A true American art form that just keeps getting better. These kids killed it!! Can't stop watching this!!

Always enjoy the Foghorn String Band, it’s great to share music with the kids. When I see the kids playing or involved with dancing with a professional group it makes me feel real good that there will continue to be great music!!
My girl on the fiddle couldn't stop taping those feet and jamming way out! I suffer from depression until I see jamming like this.
What a lovely session the adults are relaxed and smiling and the kids are really concentrating and so focused so they don’t get it wrong. Well done all 👏👏

I have seen other kid ensembles, and while good, they usually feature a lot of guitars; and they tend to run out of steam on a long instrumental. These guys are rock solid, and drop-thumb banjo cannot be an easy instrument to learn. Not to ignore the fiddler she is just marvelous. Truly an uplifting viewing experience.

All the kids, banjos and fiddle, live in sw Virginia ... the taller folks don't have a banjo player in the band, so they come visit from Oregon and Canada when they can. :-) ;-)

It is cool the way each of those young folks were playing banjo slightly differently (clawhammer, flailing, drop thumb, etc.).

The Foghorn Stringband have always amazed me at the ability to grasp regional music far removed from where they are from in the Pacific Northwest. They have Appalacian folk down, Bluegrass, old Country, and even Cajun music.
Nadine Landry on bass, was raised in Quebec, Canada so Cajun is a somewhat normal music for her, and she and Sammy Lind, reside there now.
Excellent.... Y'all are top notch musicians. Keep up your studies.

I loved this with the kids. You guys are the best.
The little boy in the front with the banjo is going to be very good. I can see an excellent level of concentration in his face and the fact he's learning to play without looking at his hands or the fretboard is going to serve him well in the long run. Good job by all.

I'm a big fan. I really like bluegrass music. I'm very far away, the music styles mix with the "caipira" music of Brazil. The Capiria music originates from the mixture of the musical styles of our colonizers with the music that originated from the Brazilian Indians (Guaranis). - The styles are similar!
