My mother passed on March 4 2023, she knew these songs well.Long live the traveling people, long live the republic, we need all to rise up now for Ireland needs her sons and daughters more than ever.
Priceless - a veritable treasure it is to find this recording of a great love and poignant song so beautifully sung by three members of a great family for music and song - ar fheabhas ar fad - maith sibh!
There are plenty of people with this sort of natural talent around. You just don't hear them, the airways being clogged up with the likes of Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. People need to start singing again, at home, and entertaining themselves.
Such a beautiful rendition of this song. I love the lyrics...mournful yet with a hint of a curse. The ultimate passive aggressive song of an abandoned lover.
This is a wonderful example of 'Sean Nos' ('Old Style') unaccompanied singing - an absolutely glorious recording which is wrapping itself around my heart and around my soul as I listen in awe...
My beautiful Great Aunts R . I ..The story of the lyrics cannot reveal . They are true what a way to tell a MAN . AUNY DOLORES,Well as was said "if God had a voice she would sound like U."CAROX
Rita Sarah Delores, I don't know who (if honoured) I would kiss first. You're all magic. I'll give Delores the first clue of who the kisser may be. Tis the Lad from Canada who paid the Delores all his time at one O'Connor pub one evenin. He would still love to fly again to meet his fair lass.
A truly talented musical family are the keanes. From the era of Sarah and Rita to the present day of Sean and Dolores, many thousands have enjoyed their unique style of entertainment. Long may have this fine talent to enjoy.

AMEN!
My father born 1930’s west of Ireland lived in a house without even a radio. He talked of times when their past times were singing and story telling.
Isn't this just lovely, pure singing. No instruments no fiddles no guitars, just voices.
the proper way

this is the sort of song you need a roaring fire and a glass of whisky and just close your eyes and think of a time long gone
Beautiful !!!
It's beautiful. I feel my soul is Irish )
Dolores you are a legend
It would bring tears
Rita with the glasses was 86 years old when she died, sarah was 92 years
I can't find the song anywhere else. Who was the original singer?
Beautiful ❤️

I wouldn't consider this Sean nos at all. The song even seems like it comes more from Appalachia or Britain than it does Ireland.
@@herecomeseveryone7562 you're guessing there. You don't really know do you?
Priceless. Love it...
And that my friends is like food for the soul

Saw the two older ladies singing together in Thurles in 1959.

Very nice. The Moon Mullican song 'Columbus Stockade Blues' has the same chorus and he was Irish American.
Pure Irish

Gold absolutely gold
Heard these two women sing in Thurles in 1959 they had the same style back then of singing in unison ....this was prior to more recent changes.
Giv me a gun or prozac lol
