I managed to get double spikes after cutting the original stem off completely, down to the base. That stem died off, then a few months later I spotted a brand new stem. Then after a couple more months, I'm seeing a second stem. First stem is blooming. Second stem is showing signs it'll bloom soon too. Love it!
They all look so green and lush. I have 1 phal that blooming for the 4th time and growing a new leave and roots and a keiki as well as 3 branches from 2 bloom spike I have not cut yet. This phal just keeps giving. I have not changed it's media as I don't want to hurt it's roots at the moment. All my other phals are either sending out new spikes or holding onto their blooms or extending their spike for more blooms. Plus growing leaves and roots, simply amazing. I do feed and flush as well as at the beginning of each month they get a soak in a black tea solution. Enjoy your orchids and have a wonderful day.
Good morning Sharon! Hope you are having a great start to your Thursday. I go by the motto sometimes too!! Especially if it’s a Phal that I really love the blooms on and want to see more soon. Thanks for coming by. 💜🥰
So far, mine are spiking single spikes... but... I gotta walk before I can run and expect double spikes 😬 I'm going to see blooms that I haven't seen in over a year, so.... this video will help my next attempt to do the same 🙂
Girl!!!... you got beautiful houseplants though!! My calatheas are a joke right now!🤣 so crispy around the edges. Lol. Thanks for stopping by Plant Mama!!
Good morning! 🌞 Wow!! That’s fantastic that you have a lot of spikes. It’s always rewarding and enjoying to get spikes and blooms. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment! Happy growing 💜
@@dannisorchidjourney that is a good question, I think I will go for summer bloomers because they bloom for months! I have one in bloom since March or April and still going.
Thank you for sharing what works for you Danni! I have 3 phals in spike but just single spikes so far. I've only been growing them for 6 months so first time spiking in my care. So Danni do you recommend cutting old spikes right down as I 've seen others who say not to? Stay safe! 🌷🌺
It just depends on what you like to do. I like to cut the old spikes most of the time but other times I do leave the spike. Lol. I’ll cut the spike though if I’m seeing the orchid needing to grow some roots or put energy into growing leaves.
Good morning! Thanks for the question. I recently had mealy bugs over the summer. I use a 70% rubbing alcohol and spray the entire plant down. I did this every time I watered for about 2 weeks. The alcohol killed instantly on contact. Hope this helps. Happy growing 💜
Dear my friend Good morning.

Nice tips Danni. As usual your orchids are really stunning

Ok, I'm going to have to try my hand at phals again! You've inspired me :)
Love you!!

Good morning! Sounds like you are doing the exact right thing for your orchid babies!! Great growing!!
Great stuff, you are such an easy talker and easy to listen to. 🗣 you have lots of spikes this season.
💚 Very well explained! On old spikes my belief is...if it's green let it be...if it turns brown cut it down. This works for me. 🌱

@@babyashy0802 cool! I love phals too. Which ones do you like best? The summer blooming or winter bloomers?

Dear Danni, pls
Help - I missed your advice .. you said you feed with “???” Salt?? And 20/20/20 fertilizer. Pls can you pls advise what ?? Salt? 🙏🙏🙏
Hi! Epsom Salt. It can be found at any drug store or any grocery store. 💜
@@dannisorchidjourney thank you very much Danni. 🙏🙏
Just got only single spike on mine...😀😀😀
Hey!! That’s okay. I have several right now with only one spike. 💜🥰
How do you deal with mealy bugs 🐜

Feed your orchids good nutrition, like growing children 😂 Accurate!
Lol!! It was what popped in to my brain at the moment! 🤣🤣
