As Lucy Van Pelt so succinctly put it..."A great, big, shiny, aluminum Christmas tree". The house looks absolutely mid-century divine! Merry Christmas!
You know, it’s funny that the special pretty much killed off the aluminum trend. They made it a negative symbol of commercializing Christmas, when in reality, what is more commercial? Buying one single tree, and being able to get decades of Christmas joy out of it, or having to buy a new tree every single year?
The tree is gorgeous but the VIEW from the window...Fantastic!!!
Thank you! It is an amazing view!
We had this tree when I was growing up. My mother used all shiny dark blue ornaments on it and we put it up in the living room picture window. We also had the color wheel. It was somewhat smaller than your newer version. Still I remember that tree, putting it up and putting it away for the next year. It all fit nicely in a flatter box. I loved that tree. Great memories.
Oh my gosh I haven't seen an aluminum Christmas tree since I was a kid in the mid '60's! And the color wheel! Just awesome, love it! The new house is beautifully decorated, well done!
PS...next year ask Santa for a Lionel train set to put under your aluminum Christmas tree 🎄 🚂
I love that your husband is on-board with your vintage craziness. I'm an old lady (73) so I remember a couple of Christmases with an aluminum tree.
THANK YOU for putting the nativity out front! There are millions of Santa's in neighborhoods everywhere, but the reason for the season season, the baby Jesus, is a rare find anymore.
I am 74 young. We never had an aluminum tree. Bit I do collect vintage and antique CMAS treasures especially ornaments from 1900 to 1980. Mt tree is a slim green one loaded with vintage and antique ornaments some from my childhood. I have treasures I have never seen in anyone's home and watched lots of videos. I also have a mix of new to make it interesting. Thank you. Trudy in PA. USA
hich What a treat this tour was. My hubby and I married in 1966 while he was still in the USAF. Our first tree was an aluminum tree with a few boxes of Shiny Brites which are now antiques. Thanks for the visit down memory lane. It is all just so sweet!
I have such warm memories of aluminum Christmas trees. I was 6 years old in 1970 and remember my grandparents having an aluminum tree, and then the next year they bought a new fake Christmas tree (more realistic) and the aluminum tree went to my parents, and was then set up in the finished rec-room in our basement. I would watch the tree for a good half hour with the color wheel constantly changing the color of the tree. It's so nice to see it set up in your home, and with the appropriate ornaments as well. I love the wrap around windows in your living room. Looks like a lodge or other vacation home.
The "CERAMIC CHRISTMAS TREES " are more 80's/90's, but everything else, INCREDIBLE!!!! I especially LOVED the "Nativity Set"!!!! I'm sure your Grandmother is looking down from Heaven and smiling!!!!
Ceramic Christmas trees actually came about in the 1940's. The first ones were made by private artists. The first ceramic Christmas tree design that was copyrighted was done so by the Atlantic Mold Company in 1958.
@@gunpowder-n-lead512 Well, I made one in the 80's with my mom in a Ceramic Class. That's when I first started noticing them; but thanks for History Lesson!!!!
Aluminum Christmas trees? My birth parents had one when I was a small child, and kids being kids reached out and touched a branch - I got a zap that I remember to this day! I was born in 1962.
It's all just so magical. I was born in 1947 and I remember all the decorations you have from my childhood. My favorite part of our Christmas trees were the bubble lights and the ice cycle strands which had waves in them. Thank you so much for the sweet memories, it made my heart sing to watch this video. Not only that but you're living my dream,. from what I could see out the window it looks like you're living on a hill which makes for a pretty view. Thanks once again and a very Merry Christmas.
Oh I also thought the view from the window was lovely!
New subscriber here! I loved every moment of this video. It brought back so many memories of my childhood. My dad worked for an aluminum corporation and one day he brought home an aluminum tree, just like the one you put up. We loved it with the light wheel. We never changed to any other tree after that. Your home is so lovely and filled with retro furnishings. When I saw the car in your drive, I couldn’t believe it! Perfection! I found tears running down my cheeks as I watched and remembered my mom and dad. It never dawned on me as a child just how cool my parents were and how fashionable. Merry Christmas and thank you for sharing! 🎄❄️💕🙏
Oh yes, I sooooo agree. Merry Christmas to you
It's so beautiful 😍 I love vintage Christmas decor so much it's just so much prettier!
Ahh thank you!!
So happy you’re back Laci!!! Your new home looks gorgeous and of course awesomely decorated for Christmas!!! Merry Christmas to you both👍👍🎄💕🎅🏻
Thanks so much! It feels very Christmas-y around here!
@@LaciFayTheVintageGirlNextDoor I love how Everythin looks. Looks like U have a nice view outside those windows. Happy Holidaze
I had this same tree as a little girl, and still have the ornaments. The tree is no longer here. Love your decorations!
It's cool..I like real live trees . My family waits til at least mid December to put up our tree. We leave it up til January 6th, the 12th day of Christmas.
If there is Vintage clothing plus the classic British accent it could kill me. Feels like a movie during World War one but in HD🥰
Soothing concept! People are lovely in vintage full suits! Back then, every man looked like a Lord while every woman was a Lady!💖
You did an amazing job! But that house really sets everything off, doesn't it? What a view!!! Also love the car sitting there. So cute!
For a lot of reasons, I am not doing decorations this year. But seeing yours really brightened my day. It inspires me for next year. Next year will be better. Xoxo
I absolutely love all the vintage looks in your house. Sooooo COZY !!!!! You are a match made in heaven. You both look so happy. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy anything vintage and watching all your videos. Thanks for sharing with all of us ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My parents had one of the tinsel Christmas trees when I was young. I think they threw it out when they sold the house I grew up in that they had moved into back in 1951 when my brother was 1 year old. It was a new build in a post war neighborhood and they lived in it for almost 30 years. Then they moved back to their little hometown when I was 18 and daddy retired from GM. .My brother is 12 years older than me, 8 years older than my sister my sister is 4 years older than me, so I was a late in life baby. They passed within a month of each other in 2007 at 77 (mom) and 83 (dad) years old after 64 years of marriage. I miss them everyday.
How awesome! He plays piano and he’s willing to be in a video❤😊
Oh wow the picture windows just follow thru the dining room!!! Yes the wood ceiling!!! Ugh you have my dream house!!! All the built-ins also, my gosh... And how you like on top of the world view at night...just amazing ❤❤❤
Oh my! I love everything! It is so sweet to see the affection between you and your beloved. Makes my heart so happy. ❤ Merry Christmas!
When I was little, me n my sisters would put up the tree. We had it in the 60’s. I am old.
It’s like stepping back into the past, my mother is ohhh and ahhhing. 😊
I really do like antique Christmas decorations from the 50's and had a thing of bubble lights in my room when I was a child.
Everything looks so classic and beautiful!
Thanks so much!
We had a green aluminum Christmas tree, since day I was born
I have all 1930s and 40s and 50s tree decorations from Mom and Grandma's decorations.
That’s amazing!
I hope your Holidays were so wonderful. I missed you so much, but I am so happy to see that your life is going so well.
My Dad worked for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation in Ravenswood, West Virginia. He started there in 1960. I can remember being a little 5 yr old girl that loved Christmas more than anything. The company always had a huge Christmas party for all the workers and their families. I specifically remember one year the they gave every family an aluminum Christmas tree. I thought it was gorgeous. My Mom said it pretty but I still like my real tree. I have no idea what ever happened to it, but I sure do wish I had it now. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us as you decorate.
And, I normally start decorating on October 31st. Then I don feel so rushed
Sorry , made the comment about the Putz houses before I seen the part of the dinning room. I love your home. Brings back a lot of memories. I was born in 1956. I remember so many things even back when I was just 3years old. I identify with the 50's the most.
I just have to tell you the architecture of your new home is absolutely spectacular!! The view out those windows at night! Wow, and your decorations are like you, simply gorgeous!! Your new guy is also and please don't be offended. He is very yummy handsome!! I just love it all so very very very much!!!
What a beautiful view and tree, love the big windows. We had a kitty who lived to be almost 18, and oh how I miss her early days and Christmas tree shenanigans. Since we adopted her from an abandoned liter near Christmas time, our daughters named her Candy Cane. Have a wonderful Merry Christmas 🌲☃️❤️
I was born in 62. My next door neighbors had a very shiny aluminum tree with all shiny blue balls. I was always mesmerized by it. I don't remember the lights. I do remember OUR Christmas tree lights-- the big bulbs that look like night light bulbs. Always an Angel 😇 on top of our tree. Lovely home you have ❤
Love❤❤❤ cats are cute
I love the way you decorated. It brings back childhood memories. I grew up in the sixties, and we had decorations just like yours. Merry Christmas.
This is the quintessential Christmas Card Perfect Home, 1950s!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
(Tom here.)
You have a beautiful home and your decorations are fantastic, Mam. Thank you for sharing your home's decorations with us, Laci. I hope you and yours had a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for sharing your life's passion for bygone years with us all, Mam. Take care. (Tom)
Your husband is so sweet to help you with the tree.
When I was little in the early 60’s we had the Aluminum tree and color wheel. I remember my parents putting in one branch at a time.
It's tradition in my household to decorate a tree or garland Thanksgiving evening. After the meal is over, Christmas is on.
Your house is just perfect! The view out the living room windows is amazing! Love it all!
My childhood 1950's Christmas decor was just a live tree with WWII ornaments, a manger scene and our stockings that my mom made on the mantle. That was it. Not as over the top as people do now. Just Merry!
The decorations are absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite Christmas traditions is to hang mistletoe and then take pictures of everyone under the mistletoe kissing their significant others or their children or their pets. It’s a really fun tradition and the photos are even better!❤
I love your tree stand, my parents had that exact same one when I was growing up in the 70's , A few years ago I got a tree skirt from Vermont Country Store with that exact same scene so now I have it part of my Christmas tree. I love it.
Growing up in the 1960's, we had an aluminum Christmas tree. The color wheel was different from the one you got at the Vermont Country Store. It reflected on the tree much brighter than your light. The four colors on our wheel were a heavy-duty type thick seran type plastic rather than hard plastic. It projected with brighter coloring to the aluminum. Your is pretty, as well. Enjoyed this blast from the past video. Thanks! You should play Christmas songs on the piano.
Absolutely stunning!!
So cozy and pretty!! Love the tree, fireplace, the view, the vibes, all of it 💕💕💕
Love that you are posting again! I am the youngest of 8 children and since we had no fireplace, our mother hung our stockings on the balusters of the long stairway in our 1909 House. Even though I have a fireplace now, I still hang ours on the much shorter stairs of my 1940 home and I am not the only family member that does that. Mom would have been 99 right after Christmas this year...
Mine go up December 1st! My tradition is to decorate with Christmas cards. When my parents were first married, they had no money. They used the Christmas cards they received to decorate their tree. So, in remembrance of that, I put Christmas cards in the window by the door and decorate the staircase with them.
I saw a video where they made garlands out of Christmas cards. I thought it was such a great idea .
We had an aluminum tree in the early 60's. I love your furniture.
Your dining room looks magical! We had one of those aluminum trees when I was little but I remember it being fuller - likely due to all the icicles/tinsel we threw on it! Yours looks lovely.
my 60s childhood at my grandparents house!
I can feel your happiness. I am so thrilled for you.
i forgot how romantic putting up a tree can be, i enjoyed seeing that.
Those ornaments look just like the ornaments my grandparents would put on their tree.
Oh my gosh! We had that aluminum tree when I was a child( in about 1965). We had it one year! My mom HATED it but my dad loved it. We donated it to my school so I was able to see it again!
Beautiful! We had an aluminum tree when I was a child and teen in the 60’s and 70’s. My mother let me put it up, I still remember taking the branches out of the sleeves and inserting them in the holes. We had vintage filigree balls in different colors to put on the tree. Nice memories!
What a beautiful tree! Growing up in the 1950's, I remember the Bubble lights. It would be nice if a company would reproduce them for us to enjoy today.
I just noticed the gorgeous wood ceiling, stunning.
The ornaments are fantastic🎉 color changer! Corner window! Nice woodwork on ceiling 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤ furniture so MCM!
I love the Christmas tree decorations that I got from my grandmother. I spent my childhood putting them on her tree many are probably so old Mum pot them on the tree when she was a kid. It's a crazy eclectic riot of colour and styles and its perfect. Even down to the Super cheap $20 tree (that looks way more than $20). I snapped one part of one of the feet the first time I put it up. It was help in place with a ribbon for many years and the broken side against the wall. It was a little wonky. I keep thinking every year I should glue the foot but I never do. It has character
Holy smokes your living room is amazing. The view is fantastic. Just perfect
We had the aluminum tree and two color wheels going at the same time. My grandparents had a fake pink flocked tree. My Aunt Helen had white flocked tree. I know it was the thing to have back then, but I wanted a real tree more than anything for 20 years.
I love the new house. I too have a new fella in my life so appreciate your excitement.
Thank you for showing the tree. I loved seeing the Santa on a rocket that I sent you in use.
Have a marvelous holiday! Glad you are back to posting.
Janice, your vintage pal in Canada.
Your home is amazing!..So are you Laci.. I've enjoyed your channel and love the kitties and your tall handsome fiance!. One tradition in my home was nuts with a nutcracker set put on the table along with tangerines and the ribbon candies..yum also egg nog with or w/o spirits..your outside is a Christmas wonderland.. enjoy the most wonderful time of the year and check out the Andy Williams Christmas shows!❤❤❤
Love it, I recently got some of my grandma’s ornaments along with her tree topper, and I bought a white Christmas tree like she had, it took me right back and brought back a lot of memories.
Hi Laci after 10 years of not having a tree up I bought a new one at Lowes! New house new memories! Merry Christmas
Ah yay! Christmas trees make me happy.
Love everything so much and the home. Born 1959 Christmas back then was so special warm cozy it was Christmas 🎄 and the vintage and mid century furniture makes it that much more special ❤
Your home is 1950's holiday divine! I hope to one day have a vintage aluminum tree to display my vintage Shiny Brite ornaments on. These ornaments include one that is a family heirloom & was once part of a dozen Shiny Brite ornaments my parents received for a wedding present. My favorite part of Christmas was when my parents would unpack these ornaments & tell us stories about how they met & their wedding day (they got married while my dad was in college & he was almost late to the wedding because he had to take his semester exams). Over the years, with all the moves & my 2 siblings & I being rambunctious kids, all but 3 of the ornaments broke. Before she passed away, my mom gifted my siblings & I with one of the remaining ornaments. I got my favorite one that looks like a glitter encrusted Chinese lantern. It is one of my greatest treasures & one of my happiest memories.
Oh my gosh, my grandmother had one of those those aluminum Christmas trees.
This gave me all the feels!! Everything looks beautiful and cozy! You did a great job.
Ahh yay! Thank you!!
When I was really little I remember my parents putting up a silver Christmas tree. They also used the light wheel. Christmas was such a magical time of year. I would spend hours dreaming over the Sears wish book.
Growing up that is the kind of tree we had and I am 69 yrs old decoration like those and the rotating light a couple of years we had put christmas lights on it
What fun memories!
I have 7 ceramic christmas trees and its one of my favorite collections but boy do they take up a lot of storage space. Worth it! Vintage christmas is my weakness and all of mine is gifted or thrifted. Its about the hunt
Everything looks so beautiful 🎄❤️ Merry Christmas!!
Thank you ❤️
My grandmother had one it was fabulous
I start decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving.
Decorations come down January 7th.
I have a 3 foot “Taper Tree” aluminum tree that my parents bought in the mid 1960’s.
A Penetray color wheel, bought at the same time as the tree, lights it.
The tree and the color wheel get put up every Christmas season.
The color wheel still has the original light bulb!
I hang vintage plastic ornaments on it - mostly “Make It and Bake It” from the 1970’s (plastic “stained glass”).
🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Gosh! Love all the decor inside and out. That outdoor nativity is gorgeous, and the Santa on the roof is a cute idea. I saw the Tbird in the carport.
Oh my goodness......I had a smaller version of that Tree when I was a teenager, in my bedroom! Lol.....
I just bought a "White Branch like tree with Gumdrops for lights" at the Gift Shop at my place of Employment......It was $50, but I waited until it was 50%off....It works beautifully! I'm in a "Christmas Tree" and "Snowman" theme for Christmas 2025. I also got a small white porcelain tree with built in lights, like my Grandma's table top green porcelain tree with built-in lights that she had when I was a kid. She favored "Big Lights" and my parents liked small blinking colored lights. I love Christmas decorations! Your home looks Gorgeous!
I know a few people who are into "Retro" homes...... furniture and decor. Blessings to you and your family! 😊
The house looks incredible! Fantastic job with decorating! I am still looking through my uncle’s house, but he has a vintage aluminum tree with original color wheel. I want to have it up for Christmas sometime. Some of my traditions include having one of my vintage trains running under the tree and another is one my mom would always do: on Christmas Eve, she would light 2 candles that would ward off the bad spirits from Christmas. The candles were usually still lit when we’d go to bed, eventually burning to the end around midnight.
It's so good to see you back, my autistic son tradition is wearing our Christmas shirts every day of the month that Christmas falls on, which is every Monday 😊
Oh you hung mistletoe above the tree! ❤️😙
Ms. Laci, your new house looks gorgeous! The way you decorated it just from the views of the living room and dining area looks straight out of a mid century lookbook or ad! Its such a cool house and looks so fancy.
Your new home is spectacular, and especially so decked out for Christmas. And I loved seeing you and your boyfriend decorating together, with stolen kisses, special looks and the shot of you together arm in arm admiring the tree reminds me of a sweet, old movie but in living colour. I usually start decorating the first weekend of December. Thanks for the fun.😊❤🎄
One January night when I was in college, my roommate and I went to Home Depot. They had one remaining blow mold nativity sheep and he was 90% off. To be silly, I bought him and said we could use him as a night light. Then my roommate said "I shall name him Kenneth." And every year since then, Kenneth has sat under my Christmas tree. I even upgraded him to an LED bulb a few years ago. I love my blow mold nativity Kenneth and I'm glad to see that you have two of his brothers.
I usually start the first week of December, but can't seen to get motivated this year. I love your house. especially he windows in the living rooms. House is so cozy with the Christmas decorations.
I'm a simple girl, I see a video of Laci Fay. I click like and watch with enjoyment. 🤷🏽♀️❤
Love it thank you for sharing with us. Happy New Year’s.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have fond memories of my Aunt Vera’s big silver tree and the color wheel when I was a kid. I always thought her tree was so beautiful.
Absolutely gorgeous! Takes me back! My grandparents had a tree like that❤
Beautiful Christmas decorations! I have one vintage Christmas ornament that has survived from the year my parents got married in 1956. I’m afraid it will get broken if I put it on the tree so it’s on permanent display with some other vintage things in a vintage pie safe in my dining room.
Looks amazing! Your new house is really neat looking too!
Oh so fun, thank you for the tour.
Your home is gorgeous, those hard wood floors and fire place, awesome!!!
Very lovely! Definitely warm and homey. The sensor and air idea to keep the kitties away from the tree is an awesome idea! I will have to try that as we have a lot of glass vintage bulbs that we would like to put up, we've been putting up homemade and the plastic ornaments that look like the glass vintage. It works, but would so enjoy the glass ones! Haha! Thanks for the idea!
Absolutely beautiful! Thanks again for sharing!
I am in love with your new home! The vaulted ceilings, wood trim, and windows give such an awesome cabin vibe. I also like how the blinds "disappear" when you put them up. Such a beautiful home, Laci. I've missed your videos. We have a glass tree topper like yours that belonged to my mom and dad. It's still in its original box with the price tag of 79 cents on it. I keep it in my china cabinet because it's so fragile. It doesn't fit on our tree, but I still love to have it around. Welcome back!
Instead of the song silver bells, I sing silver tree as growing up we had one but with my precious cat now can not have one. So I make up lyrics about my cat devouring a silver tree and pooping out tinsel until new years. Love your Christmas displays and lights. Do give my cat a tree made of a small branch and plastic little ornaments to knock down.
It’s looks so beautiful. I think the dining room is my favorite. I love to see you stunning home.
Everything is wunnaful, wunnaful!
