i have never ever bought a funko and dont plan on it. youtube this week suddenly decided this is my hobby and now my mainpage is flooded with channels similar to yours. your chemistry is nice and your commentary isnt fluffy/bullsht. so yea your earned a new subscriber on accident, im here to stay
For me I started getting into Funko about 2 years ago and they’ve definitely had their ups and downs. I think what’s going on is people are mainly buying from Funko directly or stores like hot topic. I think the smaller retails are struggling because of these bigger chains
Had a 6k collection.. Good luck finding a buyer sold most of them for 400.... They made to many to soon and we all ran outta space... You are cool dudes find something else as a side hussle
Gemini was really good about carrying pops I couldn't find anywhere else. I quit collecting though cause it became too expensive and sometimes the coolest pops were locked behind NFTs. I still buy a few here and there. It's sad though cause I loved watching your channel in those days. I still love you guys though. You're just cool peeps.
Crazy to see one of the OGs getting out of the game. I still gotta track down that Joker 2-pack from Gemini, if I can ever afford it. I wish them the best for the future!
In a span of 10 years just in my area we went from 2-3 hobby shops to around 20. So it definitely makes it much more difficult for a hobby store to be as profitable as it was when they were just a few of them. In the Funko space, I feel people are more and more buying directly for the Funko shop making it even more difficult for the retail stores.
He used to get alot of those protos for free as a sort of bribe for buying up all of Funko's overstock, so it would all shake out. He stocked EVERYTHING
@Gastlecast lol. I guess it was Less bribe more "thank you for taking all of this leftover stuff that no one wanted." I will say this, there was a period of time when those dollar signs were blinding Steve.
I feel like Funko’s taken over online orders with there site. But also it’s hard to base any collectible store around 1 vendor. Comic shops are now comics cards and collectibles. Almost every comic shop I talk to says they would’ve gone out of business in the early 2000’s if Pokémon didn’t bail them out. We’ve definitely passed the peak of Funko. You’re going to have to diversify.
It's not about hate, they changed their business model on what built their company to what it became. Gemini was cool back when they would help funatics get protos and exclusives at a good price, even fun days funko pieces back when wobblers were popular then onto pops. I have orders from them from over 12 years ago now and dealt with S many times, They clearly got a ton of product directly through funko for free, I have gotten free items from Gemini back in the day that are considered grails now. Unfortunately overtime they became the worst scalpers with prices well above other outlets like eBay etc.. So when you say "I don't understand why people take success and make it ugly..." unfortunately that's exactly what Gemini did themselves. It went from Funatics sharing their links to other funatics, to S posting on their himself for heads up.. too where Funatics would only post references to their new prices which were typically way over market. Overall they were GREAT to deal with, but they got caught up in the wave it seems
This might be one of those "I was today old when I learned this" comment, but a Funko Grail that I would love to get someday is the black and white Captain America Gemini edition. Does that mean that it was the Gemini store that had this exclusive and that's why it's called the Gemini Captain America?
Hey if funko wants to give Gemini things who cares funko can do it. If it bothers someone build a business and do it your own way. Just like if MT does extra things for certain people Chris and Heather can do it because it's their company. Also if someone does get maybe a perk, usually they earned it. No one sees that they just see someone getting something they didn't get. I bet if that something was a blackeye you wouldn't want it haha.
That 2nd comment might be a little petty but is it factually wrong? Isnt even that mean spirited. Gememi got benefits for whatever reason. Whether justified or not and thats more a subjective thing. I do wonder if funko how giving protos out through their awards product is impacting things they used to do. Unsure if thwt has anythibg to do with them going out of business though.

I stopped collecting funko a couple years ago, but I still watch you guys because you give honest opinions and news

What do you mean by side hustle?
@@Gastlecast TBF i wrote Hussle meant Gig... As in maybe review Necca as i like you guys but Funko is very dead
@jaritime1406 Ah we do this as a hobby, we enjoy talking Funko! We also review other collectibles as well, just not as frequently. 😊

My retirement also comes up just after Christmas. I wish Gemini Collectibles the very best in their next endeavours.
It’s really over the day fugitive toys call it quits!

If funko falls ill probably just get the figures I want and just go back to full time lego collector.

something about sailors or pirates or some other kind of sea men?
🤣🤣🤣
"Everything dies. Not everything really lives."
I work 2 blocks away from Gemini and i've never been inside.

A shop cannot survive by just selling Pops. I know a lot of shops closed because of that stupid shit.
Gemini was great l, got alot of grails from them, especially Fundays Freddys.
Will you guys retire in 20 years too!
20? How old do you think we are! 👵🧓
I blame Chalice.

That's sucks
FUNKO IS DEAD
💀
at the end of the day, we're talking about a $2 molded vinyl figure bought as a novelty collectible, not to make a 9,000% profit.
This is a very hate filled up channel towards funko.. “dead”? Really?
We asked a question. Did you watch?
