I haven’t bought a funko in a while due to price increases. I agree with y’all %100.
Funko has the audacity to charge more, when they can’t get rid of numbered items for 50 or 70% off
yeah in uk common pop is like £15 rrp but i noticed lot commons now go on sale and dont even move at £10, like funko is losing steam now and funko know this so are trying to make as much money as they can before funko loses more fans and product becomes well dead.
When you overproduce with a dwindling market and thing charging more while maintaining overproduction will lead to profit
Gosh ! The days of getting figures for 8.99 are gone. It's sad. You use to be able to complete a whole series for under 50 bucks.
In Australia they were never $9 unless buying through someone on FB marketplace
Now you can barely complete a set with $100
"The price of Funko is going up, and we're gettin' out!"
As someone who doesn't give a shit about Funko Pops, this line speaks to me.
And yes, "Am I getting the bang for a buck" is how I feel when buying any collectible.
Also, I care about source accuracy and articulation. Something Funko Pops seriously lack!
I’ve trimmed right back what I’m buying. It’s an uphill battle every time something comes out. Collecting has become genuinely exhausting. Constantly fighting price increases, low volumes on popular stuff, and scalpers.
Remember what happened to funko soda when they went to $18?
@@PaulieEsther yup! We’ve talked about that on older shows too, just ridiculous
most stores are already carry less and less. the prices will kill it completely. Bubble is burst
I have had to cut way back on collecting due to prices. Inflation is so bad in the U.S. Currently I pay the same amount for half the groceries. I don't have the excess income I used to in order to keep up with the changing price of POPS! I've become extremely selective about my POPS, I've only purchased a handful this year.
Try living in Canada lmao.
That’s why I only buy from stores on deal days, Black Friday, Boxing Day etc.
My favorite, local collectibles store has also stopped their general dealing in Funko Pops and are trying to unload their Funko Pop stock.
Our local collectible store is doing the same
my friend works as a customer service manager at target, mentioned he has only seen 1 or 2 people come to registers with a pop all holiday shopping season. He said from 2019 to 2022 they would see someone purchase funko products almost everyday, now it doesn't even make sense to gift people a pop because of how lame its become in general.
I use to have over 300 funko pops, got tired of collecting and sold the whole collection to someone. Made a pretty profit too. Glad i left before the bubble popped.
I don’t blame you for cutting back. What Funko is doing just doesn’t make economic sense. They have lost touch with their collectors. I am already cutting back because my collection is getting so big but I am going to be even more selective as prices increase. Thanks for for you perspective on this. Love watching you guys.
Appreciate you Craig! Cheers!
As a collector, I've definitely reduced my purchasing. I've waited for big sales like Black Friday/Anniversaries, while also looking at all the deals that retail stores provide. I even use my memberships to those stores for discounts or deals. I've been sticking with pops that are from lines that I really love. Like you've mentioned, I've also been visiting discount stores like Marshals, Ross, and Five Below to see what they have. Damaged boxes, but a $5 pop? Every discount helps when on a hobby budget.
I been stopped collecting. My ex collected 100s and everytime I went to get/drop off our son there was more. Filled the half the living room and hallway. It’s like an addiction and I didn’t want to be like that. He sold them all when he move to another state but my son said he started all over at his new house😭
I use to collect Transformers. Every new Decepticon they released, I was buying. Ever since Hasbro started raising prices, I've become extreme selective now on which one I buy. Figures that use to cost 19.99 are now 36.99.
Funko has been raising prices where now this once fun hobby is just a pain to do for both you are your wallet.
Funko's biggest thing was that it was cheap. $12 for a nice figure. Now you have to shell out around $15 to $20 just for a basic common.
I have never paid more then $5 per Pop its all they're worth. In 5 years the thrift stores and landfills will be full of them.
@WitchHunterSiegfried lol, it has begun
Great Information guys! The only way to get the common pops at cheap price is to wait for them to go on sale. I have over 5,000 in my collection and you guys are right, I'm going to not pay the extra 3 plus dollars for commons .I will just get pops when there is a big sale! Also as for Gamestop, your right there prices are through the roof! I stop buying from them and i was with them since day one! Keep up the good work!
No. I gave up on Funko. I have over 700 pops and most aren’t worth anything. Mine are for sale. 😉😉💰
Same... but who is buying? I'm in the middle of nowhere Canada. Unless I want to sell my pops for $2 a piece, I'll just keep them.
Commons need to be priced commonly
I sold all my commons and a lot of low end “exclusives” all I collect now are OG grails that have piece counts of my favorite pops.
I wait to get funkos when Amazon has sales for like $5
This falls squarely on the distributor. The same happened in the sports card market where the distributor controls the prices based on demand regardless of what they paid for the product. Eventually, you will see the same strong arm tactics where you can't get a specific funko unless you buy a predetermined quantity of another. Once again, distributors have ruined ANOTHER collectors hobby. Shame.
We aren't buying much anymore, but if it is something we really love we would try to pick it up.
I'm glad you're finally free of this infliction.
- Funko is already hurting their Soda line by putting the Chase sticker on the outside of the can. Retailers are no longer interested in buying cases because the Chase sells instantly while the 5 commons will gather dust on their shelves for months.
- Now with the frequent price increases on common Pops (on top of over-saturation in some series), Funko is also hurting their Pop line because like you said, they will start to alienate both the retailers and the collectors.
- NFTs are hit and miss but are also suffering because of a regular lack of creativity. Every burned pack is a loss of revenue.
- Dorbz have never done very well.
- Wobblers need to be part of a bundle to be even talked about.
- Pocket Pop and Bittys have minimal traction.
The only thing that seems to be doing ok are the in-person events because of the exclusives, and some of their mystery boxes (Fun on the Run, Funtastic Voyage, etc). The problem for them is that they're mostly popular because of the low production count, and that's not good enough to sustain the business. So I'm not sure what their long term vision is, but the future of Funko isn't looking very bright, and it's mostly self-inflicted.
yeah we talked about the end of sodas because of that reason as well as the continued rise in price on a recent youtube show. Commons and Nfts are just going to become more and more obsolete, they will make a ton of them but most will end up in discount stores
I thought funko pops were cute back in 2016 and got a few. After I realized how addicted I was literally not paying attention in class trying to get Scott pilgrim pops on the funko shop just for them to sellout, that was my breaking point. While I still have some lingering, I hadn’t bought a funko in years and it’ll stay that way.
I have about 10 black and yellow totes full of these things. I’m thinking about dumping 80% of the collection… forget the jumbo pops as well. I’m going to collect premium statues and action figures only. I think funko messed up when they started releasing pops that are not a hit. Flop shows and movies that make 0 at the box office.
I'll just keep waiting for sales
Records cost $50 now....
Theres a Geeky store not to far from me that deals in a lot of products sadly mostly Anime from a non anime collector like myself, but they haven't upgraded their Funko Collection in Months and this is why i dont blame them . There are some steals on the secondary market at the moment too i bought a Freddy in Floaty for 5 GBP not long ago and it was mint. I see this as self destruction for Funko as everyone is saying the hobby was kept irrelevant by there prices. Tristan (Top Pops) Subs will go through the roof again though as he will be the only one who will be able to afford them and we'll all need to share his collection 😂
Two of the biggest funko stores near me unloaded their regular stock. They only do cards and high end funko.
Both were big on what not. It's super sad to see this private store get out. They had so many older stuff. Now, I would never go back. With all the discount stores getting them, it lowers the demand. Finally, the biggest issue is the economy. People need to cut down on hobbies and luxury items like collecting. Funko is going to be screwed.
theres too much funko pop stock for them to be bumping prices. they need to make it more affordable if they're gonna actually want to sell it
I’m a huge Funko Pop collector with almost 1k pops in my collection. I used to just clean out those new releases but I just don’t wanna anymore. Way too expensive and jacking prices up for the sake of it. Most pops aren’t worth the effort and time it takes to obtain it
i havent bought a common for retail price for a while to begin with. most of the ones im interested in get discounted because of over production. with how much they produce, and the restocks i started just doing the NFT drops more due to the fact that some of them are even cheaper than a retail "mainline" pop, and are LE
I got out of the pop game when I started doing customs.
Pops are the new beanie babys
So you're the one....every Funko Video someone always has to say that 😂
They are raising prices now and then when they go on sale you will think you are getting a bargain but you will be paying what they should be priced at.
12:10 “isn’t a premium brand anymore.
Do/did y’all actually consider Funko a premium brand or product? I mean this in good faith but aren’t that considered more of a toy/disposable decoration to most people, the average consumer just throws it in the cart when buying something else, tosses the box, then eventually tosses it in the garbage bin and couple months later….I know for collectors and hardcore enthusiasts this isn’t what they do but it’s a small % of the overall buying pool.
A premium product IMO would be something like a nendoroid where the presentation, quality and branding has way more put into it, They’re pretty much only for collectors with that price tag being high (comparatively) and their availability being almost online only as far as the west goes.
@@whatevername6553 it is and it isn’t… Brand new commons are not and should not be a premium price … At the same time original pops and grails are definitely premium.
It was never premium. Funko pops are modern beanie babies.
@ 😂 another beanie babies reference. We should start doing shots every time someone comments that
“Inflation is inflation” actually, it’s a choice.
Spent about 400 bucks on the black friday sale between them and amazon and picked up about 50 funko pops because ive held on buying given all the price increase and limited drops. Sales or no shot now and gotta be selective
These are almost consistently 20$ CAD where I live :(
@@MonsterTaming420 yup that’s just the price now
Gamestop is 16.99 for common 19.99 for exclusives
@@jeremyrosenthal2911 in Canada?
@KDogAndFish in alberta anyway
@@jeremyrosenthal2911 Interesting!
*IF* commons were increasing in value the older they got, like they used to, the price increase might be justifiable but to buy a common now for $20 and have it drop 50% in value within months doesn't make sense. The price increase is especially brutal for Canadian collectors. Funko has been in a tailspin for a while. Getting listed on the stock market killed the whole vibe of the company. It's all corporate greed motivated now and their only job is to return values to shareholders. It hasn't been about the collectors for a long time. I drastically reduced my collecting when they fired their artists and now they are going to be very hard pressed to get more of my money. Sorry you guys are having to deal with this continued insanity.
Thank you!
Keep going up and then Thrilljoy’s price won’t look so crazy anymore 🤷🏾♂️
And just a reminder giant Tiger, starting to get Funko pops in their stores too
Funko died when they went public.
Ok grandpa
I had gone through 2 rounds of collecting Funko. I started years ago when they first appeared. When I moved I got rid of them then started again about 2 years ago and noticed the price increases. Finally slowed down my collection and only get the odd one that really appeals to me. Just started to make my own instead.
At what point do we just stop and realize that us buying these things isn’t an actual hobby. We’ve really been kidding ourselves.
Collecting anything will always be a Hobby :)
@@KDogAndFish Just buying a thing and putting it on your shelf still in the box is NOT a hobby. Were just being consumers, we should focus our time and money else where instead of giving it to these companies over and over again
@ then you are missing the point of collecting when it comes to nostalgia, pop culture. I loooooove my collection. I don’t agree with where the company itself is headed and how they operate now, but that doesn’t take away from what feel when i look at my collection. I just means i will collect less in the future, be more selective
will you guys be getting other type of collectable statues in?
@@dinksterling might have to 👍
Well if you were just in for the collectability of it and not for profit you would love the tanked prices....anyone got the duck dynasty pops ??
@@adambennett9756 we’re talking costs not values…wish we had some duck dynasty for you, we’ve had them in the past, none at the moment!
They will raise prices when they get a chance but it gets confusing why 😂😂😂😂 great video 👍 😎
I agree with you guys said I hope they don’t phase out commons because as a collector, even some comments are fun to collect depends on the pop and K dog. It depends on which cheat and Sean set was if it was just the pops individually it would’ve been 1724 each, which is not bad. I hope they don’t do no more price increase anymore. I hope they bring the price down a little
I just think it's really dumb how funko's pricing literally goes so high and so low Funko can't even make most of their money back on most of their products they sell. And then at the beginning of this year they talk about "downsizing" which was a total lie. I have a feeling Funko will go bankrupt within the next few years at this rate.
It all boils down to greed Funko doesn't care about the collectors. Funko just cares about making a buck. And the issue is collectors don't want to pay outrageous prices for things that used to be cheaper but the only reason why it gets more expensive is because of what? popularity, inflation or a list of other reasons why it's more expensive.
Kdog and Fish entering their Thrilljoy Era. 😅
@@PaulieEsther 🤣 yup! Lol
Thrilljoy was a nycc hype now its just a box no one wants
Dude has 5 captain America's. I don't have the mindset of wanting every edition of my favorite characters
Will we be getting a background change?
Lol prob not, we still love funko...we just need to stop ordering new commons
Last funko i purchased was in 2022 at the time i had roughly 2100 or so. I started in 2012 and had well over 3000 through the years. One day i realized i was just over the fun part and was just buying to "keep the line" i sold all but 8. And tbh those 8 arent even close to the most expensive i had they just meant the most. I havent looked back, i pass them at the store look say thats ok and move on.
We are much more selective now for sure with very close to 1000 funko, space and price play a huge role
As you guys have seen, I have been VERY selective for the last couple years on what I collect. the last price increase made me think about trimming down. Especially (until recently) when the higher price on pops was getting to be the same at the time as some figures I was getting from hasbro and mcfarlane. Inflation hasn't helped either. But as always, I will continue to support you guys!
@@GeeboatsCollects totally agree! Thank you so much for your support!
The box is more detailed on the pop plus, not saying it's worth the more moola but yea
I own 6 funko pops I’ve spent around 100$ on them all most expensive part was shipping tbh . I wouldn’t buy more only got them to fill up desk space on my gaming table 😂
At this price buy a lower grade stute with alot more detail than funko can ever do for 25-30
agreed, there are definitely other options when it comes to statue collectibles at a lower price, diamond select for example is a good one
Just wait for the Donny Chumps Tariffs, people won't be buying any collectibles
Sure, keep telling yourself that.

I will definitely be getting more selective. If I don't just stop .
20$ is too expensive imo, its kinds like lego atm where it's getting way too overpriced for the average consumer
totally agree! although Lego will always have the fan base that pays the money due to its long standing popularity but you are right about the average consumer
Meanwhile Funko is laughing all the way to the bank.
Ive been out for a few years now loved to support u guys just got too much for me to afford anymore funko hit their limit charging too much now easy to see
“Thank you Walt” that actually made me laugh out loud 😂
Based on what is being said sounds like Funko will have better prices than the competition. Which is right up their alley.
But what’s hilarious is in the states the holiday sales have most pops under 10 bucks even as low as $3 bucks
So very funny
I am with yall. I am super selective now and don’t really get commons at all anymore unless it is one of the three Star Wars characters I collect. Days of getting an entire wave when they come out are over for me anyway
You guys are the only reason why I like Funko 🍻
@@2426palmorino we still love Funko and we appreciate you guys! We are going to keep making awesome Mystery Boxes, buying old collections, cool stuff! Auctions, fun things! Cutting way back on new commons with the price increases it’s just not worth kt
I wanna say either the plus or premium suppose to replace the deluxe for a lot of pops. Kinda like the buggy nycc. That would be cheaper if it was a plus I believe
Not enjoying the price hikes. I think Funko should have less inventory. Be more selective on character & IP choices for production. With many collectibles now competing with Funko...Hot Toys' vinyl figure line, Disney Doorables, Hasbro Bounty Collection and now Thrilljoy! I only collect Star Wars but if Thrilljoy gets licensing for Star Wars...I'd reconsider my collecting.
Hell i see the funko being by ine get two free and people still aren't buying them
I started collection the NFL McFarlane legacy series that GameStop has. Have you ever thought of selling other collectables? I realize you’re a funko pop store just curious if you ever thought of it. Cheers to all.
@@Inch316 Cheers Bruce!!!
Which means more commons in landfills
yup!
It might be because all these POPs are ending up at discount locations that they have to make the difference by gouging the rest. BTW I have a large collection that I.m selling, want in?
DM us on instagram @kdogandfish and we could look into your collection. we are currently looking into older/vaulted pops or exclusives though
I feel you I put a pause of Funko collecting and have been buying Lego
We love Lego too!
Funkos at GameStop are like 99 cents
@@Waponzi that is not true, maybe there are some on clearance but I doubt for 99 cents and new pops at GameStop are still regular price
Just my thoughts and not trying to get deep into politics but do you think it’s an anticipatory response to impending tariffs from the US? If they come from China to US that’s (ATM) an expected 35% increase and then to ship to Canada would be another 25%. Of course you could ship right from China to Canada but idk how they do it. Just thinking especially if it’s on preorders mostly might time out to mid January.
@@andrewclark239 totally plausible
