I don't know if I'm just too soft or whatev's, but i had a tear running at 11:50 when Ammy got a bit sad. This game is so great, I love the storyline, and how different stories get mixed in without being "unneccesary" in my opinion
While I agree a giant sea of lava makes an effective defense, what I want to know, is how the HECK she got a SEA OF LAVA on the TOP FLOOR of a WOODEN HOUSE?!?! HOW the HECK has that place not burnt down?!?!
I like to watch Okami LPs by multiple people. So far, you and Cry are my favorites! Since I already know how it ends, I always cry when Issun says 'His precious grandchild...' my poor poncle child
After I saw that save mirror, saw how the queen was wearing a menacing outfit, saw the floating orb, and hear the menacing music, I said to myself: "...Boss fight." It's obvious.
+Jabari Spears That is actually incorrect. Waka and Kaguya are from the Moon Tribe, which, as the name implies, comes from the Moon. This is explained further towards the end of the Ryoshima Coast arc and right before the final boss.
My theory is that kaguya is part. Of the moon tribe that's why her hair looks simalar to wakas, also what's with this comment "I knew bounds were weird"? I mean come on dude! :,(
nobody seems to have noticed this and the comments are all just people talking about kaguya but the room with all the monkeys in it at 1:24 is actually a reference to mythology. Or at least it seems to be to me. it looks like a pretty clear reference to The Journey to The West. Or rather the first few books of it. Even the two items on the side fit in with the story. The story itself starts out with a rock breaking in half to form a smaller rock and that smaller rock turns into a stone monkey (hence the crystal) who goes to live with normal monkeys. and one day the stone monkey finds an empty cave palace behind a waterfall for the monkeys to live in (hence all the monkeys in the area) and they name him the monkey king. after a bunch of impulsive decisions this monkey king (eventually named Sun Wukong) becomes an unstoppable immortal (hence the godly charm) and gets trapped under a mountain, only to be freed to help a monk deliver the word of Buddha himself To The West. ( this is a really short version of the story and its missing a bunch of details i just didnt want to talk long i would suggest looking this up for yourself for a better version ) so sorry if i got anything wrong!!!!
i totally agree with you chugga, the art direction in okami is the most beautiful art direction in any game, and i think that it is fine how you fangirl over the art direction...
Actually I watched a video by OverlySarcasticProductions that talked about the story of Kaguya. Apparently the emperor who improsoned her in Okami is also in the story. Maybe not the same emperor but an emperor was involved. In the myth, Kaguya made friends with an emperor. When Kaguya knew it was almost time for her to go home, the emperor tried anything he could to keep her from leaving but failed. Another thing was that when she left, all who knew her lost their memories of her. The emperor was given an item by Kaguya to remember her by. So at least in this game, everyone still remembers her.
just saying i hpoe people had tissues cause that cut scene made me cry a little that is the sweetest cut scene i've ever scene and i saw the end of the Anju and kaffe quest this cut scene beats every heart touching moment in every zelda game i own and any pokemon game i own
i remember seeing her go away in that spaceship, and thinking that it was possibly the most random thing ive seen in a video game, especially since its never mentioned after that (to my knowledge)
I love Queen Himiko, both in this game and in the context of Japanese history. Because of her, Kyoto has been preserved as the spiritual capital of Japan and of the major seat of the Imperial family for over 1000 years.
The note was one of apology to her parents and the Emperor. She sipped the elixir of life (or the Hourai Elixir in an adaptation or two) before attatching it to the Emporer's note and sending it. She finally returns to the Moon. Meanwhile, the Emperor receives his note, but refuses the elixir, not wanting to live forever without seeing Kaguya-hime again. He ordered his guards to throw the elixir along with the note in the mountain closest to the Heavens, which happened to be Mt. Fuji.
To elaborate more on Kaguya's origin: she is based on the child from the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, who was found by the bamboo cutter in a glowing stalk one day. The Man Who Cut Bamboo, as he was called, took the child home with him and raised her along with his wife. As mentioned, the Celestial War caused Kaguya-hime (as she was named) to escape to Earth. She was from the Capital Of the Moon, and was regarded as the Lunarian Princess. As she grew up, others found out about her beauty. (cont.)
Kaguya came back to Sasa Santuary for this Halloween. I gave out candy with Kaguya, Waka, and Mr. Bamboo there, whom were dressed up as characters from Cartoon Network Universe: Fusionfall (I believe Kaguya was Mandy, Mr. Bamboo was Grandpa Max, and Waka was Demongo).
@BeeryGamer No, I think that was a reference to Phoenix Wright, which was made by Capcom. Most of the game is text-based, but there are some voice-clips used in specific things. Y'know, when a character shouts "Hold it!" "Objection!" or "Take that!"
Hooray for the tale of the Moon Princess Kaguya! Mr. Bamboo is such a lovely character, anyone else think so? And for the record, people who've played this game/watched Okami playthroughs know that Kaguya and Waka have something in common. Not going to say what.
Chasemytailchasemytailchasemytailchasemytail....Arggh! Such a long tounge twister!! XD And wow, another epic cliffhanger? Gah, i hate haven to wait for the next episode to see Quen Himiko, but hey, ya do that for suspense right? Thanks for this video Chugga!! And glad you're not sick anymore! :)
"I thought that they were angels but to my surprise they climbed aboard their starships and headed for the skys singing come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me."
I love that it's the fact that Kaguya has blonde hair that makes her different, and not that she can't take off the helmet or that she has feelers on her head XD
Eventually the emperor learned about her and tried courting her as well. Kaguya, however, told him the she could not accept his offer because she was about to leave. She basically tells the emperor she is an alien and before long, a group of entities come to take her back to her home. The version in the game is basically identical except for the tail end.
so 3 lava rooms will stop people from bombing buildings or killing someone while they are out the building or coming in through the roof or shooting a hole in the side of the wall to get to the person?
I felt so scaared when Himiko was about to show her face. I felt like it was gonna be like when Yeta when totally Mirror Crazy in Twilight Princess. That still scares the crap out of me.
Brown: Rejuvenation Black: Various miscellaneous applications such as Fishing, launching Issun inside the Emperor's Palace or with the Thief's Glove, using Rao's Prayer Slips on the Sunken Ship etc. Green: Greensprout Blue: Waterspout Red: Inferno this may have helped him
I don't know how to respond. Yes, the 3DS has a circle pad, which gives analog control to its games. That doesn't change the fact that Okamiden is a DS game. As a DS game it has motion locked to 8 directions.
After so many tries, I think my family was about to do an intervention, I finally got through this HORRIBLE digging game. It was the damn water spout that only worked about one in ten times. When i couldn't stand it anymore, I'd go get more demon fangs and then try again. Thanks, Chugga!
@HiddenSenka No. The term used is "RPG elements". You level up your HP and Ink, as well as a few other things, but your character itself doesn't level up. In fact, there is no level system. Without a level system, it can't be calssified as an RPG.
I always thought Kaguya was weird, she had this kind of "bubble" around her head. Now that its clear she is an alien it would make sense that it was kind of "visor"
I think the developers made a reference to Issun's backstory with this line he says in the scene with Kaguya and Mr. Bamboo at 10:53 : "His precious grandchild... ... ... Huh? Oh, I wasn't thinking about home or anything... No, really!" This relates to his backstory because the story goes that the gods gave him to an elderly couple who prayed for a son, even if he was no bigger than their thumb. My guess is that they told him that he was their grandson, and he's thinking about that here.
Damn you chugga! I actually dont want to see these videos so you wont spoil anything, cause im planning to play this for a second playthrough! But i cant stop watching!
I know there are other reasons, but I think Himiko doesn't leave her room because of the FRICKING SEA OF LAVA outside her door.
And if she tries to swim in it, she'll probably burn to death!
you know what a better security system is? The flooring that the lava was on. A door made out of that? No one would get through it.
Christian Marsh Fair point, how would you ever get OUT?
well how does queen himiko get out?
***** then you should have one to.
Antonio Pietrangelo Or what if there was a mud boat and a load of rock spires that caused the boat to capsize in the lava?
StitchyTwitch But you had to collect 10 blue coins while doing that
You say we can swim in lava with the fire tablet.
WHY CANT WE JUST WALK ON THE F****ING LAVA!?
I mean i guess amaterasu doesnt have lava waders
I don't know if I'm just too soft or whatev's, but i had a tear running at 11:50 when Ammy got a bit sad. This game is so great, I love the storyline, and how different stories get mixed in without being "unneccesary" in my opinion
wait, if the fire tablet was equipped to amaterasu, HOW DID ISSUN SURVIVE??!!!!
He stood on top of ammy
Lava on a wooden floor that doesn't influence anything on a lower floor.
Nintendo- I mean Capcom logic.
good timing on that cliffhanger
ERMAHGERDITSAROCKET!!!!!
Translation: OMG ITS A ROCKET!!!!!!
mr. bamboo: im must smile but I have no mouth (im sure there are a few that get that)
i must scream but i havr no mouth
"When the wind blows, you will know my heart." I love that game! (Pro. Layton and the Diabolical box)
14:49 all i could think was
" *We're off to see the que-en, the horrible queen of Sei-an* "
...
"When the wind blows, you'll know my heart..." I had to listen to that twice, but I realised you made a Professor Layton reference there!
is it me? or does kaguyas story sound like superman and super-girls story
actully kaguta was base on a old legend from japan
While I agree a giant sea of lava makes an effective defense, what I want to know, is how the HECK she got a SEA OF LAVA on the TOP FLOOR of a WOODEN HOUSE?!?! HOW the HECK has that place not burnt down?!?!
now that was a cliffhanger
I like to watch Okami LPs by multiple people. So far, you and Cry are my favorites! Since I already know how it ends, I always cry when Issun says 'His precious grandchild...' my poor poncle child
3:52
Star Trek. Beam me up, Scottie!! :)
chugga"will she ever get down here?(she gets down here) BLOW
*trolled face* CHUGGAAA!!!!!!
After I saw that save mirror, saw how the queen was wearing a menacing outfit, saw the floating orb, and hear the menacing music, I said to myself:
"...Boss fight."
It's obvious.
am I the only one who cryed
1:28 I am amazed there is no Heart-Shaped Box comment with “Nirvana Hole.”
...So what you're saying is, Kaguya is Superman.
Well we all know that Blond people are Moon heads, that´s this game exploration.
Waka has blond hair
DAH!
Yeah, he and Kaguya are both Celestials from the Celestial Plain
+Jabari Spears That is actually incorrect. Waka and Kaguya are from the Moon Tribe, which, as the name implies, comes from the Moon. This is explained further towards the end of the Ryoshima Coast arc and right before the final boss.
Oh, Ammy looked so sad at that one scene when the old guy shed a tear. :(
who..has blonde hair.....
...
..wait...
WAKA???!?!
[sound of entire audience clapping their hands to their mouths in surprise]
Issun's reaction to her revealing her face is completely priceless! The next video will definitely be worth the wait.
Dude, it would be a terrible defense mechanism. You use a grappling hook
Each of the three doors leading to Himiko's throne room is marked with one of the kanji that her name is written in in Japanese: 卑弥呼.
how was a rocket in that little rock
+Nicholas Fitzpatrick If you have common sense, maybe you would think there was stuff underground.
It was a ROCKet!
Its good to see you back and well chugga! Love all the work you do keep it up! :)
I thought kaguya was based off a legend of an attractive white woman who washed up on the coast of Japan in 1803
The music plus the scenery....THE MANLY TEARS OF AWESOME! THEY WON'T STOP!
My theory is that kaguya is part. Of the moon tribe that's why her hair looks simalar to wakas, also what's with this comment "I knew bounds were weird"? I mean come on dude! :,(
That bamboo rocket is what the ultra beast Celesteela is based on
nobody seems to have noticed this and the comments are all just people talking about kaguya but the room with all the monkeys in it at 1:24 is actually a reference to mythology. for some reason, when kaguya left, i thought of avatar and said "alien babe?"
8:40 oh my god, Kaguya is an alien!
i totally agree with you chugga, the art direction in okami is the most beautiful art direction in any game, and i think that it is fine how you fangirl over the art direction...
So THIS is when he started to like cliffhangers!!! Gosh dang you cugga for making so many after this one!!!!
I realy don't care how long your videos are. I just enjoy watching them :D
Actually I watched a video by OverlySarcasticProductions that talked about the story of Kaguya.

So at least in this game, everyone still remembers her.
Glad to see you're doing better, Chugga!
Also, this means my favorite Issun moment in the whole game is in the next episode.
just saying i hpoe people had tissues cause that cut scene made me cry a little that is the sweetest cut scene i've ever scene and i saw the end of the Anju and kaffe quest this cut scene beats every heart touching moment in every zelda game i own and any pokemon game i own

That is by far the best cliffhanger in this LP so far
To elaborate more on Kaguya's origin: she is based on the child from the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, who was found by the bamboo cutter in a glowing stalk one day. Um... you do know lava can be deadly WITHOUT touching it, right?
Assassinations may go down, *but good luck getting the figure head across as well*!
“Queen himiko has the best security ever” FAMOUS LAST WORDS
Chugga: Take That!
Me: OBJECTION! wrong series.
Thank you for the ending, Emile.
...Wow. At 9:05, the random voice clips of Mr. Bamboo actually sound out "Kaguya". :o
That seems to make the moment even more sad than before... :(
@BeeryGamer No, I think that was a reference to Phoenix Wright, which was made by Capcom.
Most of the game is text-based, but there are some voice-clips used in specific things. Y'know, when a character shouts "Hold it!" "Objection!" or "Take that!"
Just wanted to point something out.
On the back of Kaguya's Kimono there is an image of the ship/bamboo shoot.
Manly tears were shed in this video. *sniff*
Hooray for the tale of the Moon Princess Kaguya! Mr. Bamboo is such a lovely character, anyone else think so? And for the record, people who've played this game/watched Okami playthroughs know that Kaguya and Waka have something in common. Not going to say what.

"I thought that they were angels but to my surprise they climbed aboard their starships and headed for the skys singing come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me."
yeah. the part with Kaguya always makes me cry
. . . I just realized Kaguya is wearing basically a bamboo space-helmet thing.
I love that it's the fact that Kaguya has blonde hair that makes her different, and not that she can't take off the helmet or that she has feelers on her head XD
amaterasu leaving that underground zone in the beginning reminded me of samus using light suit teleportin echoes
Blaaaarg! Chugga you're the master of cliffhangers
we're so glad you're back! So frickin worried!
Apparently, someone forgotten the existence of flying machines that can get to the monarchs under lava security.
1:you and your fears of all that is okami related =|
2:yes chugga we know you love the art direction!! and
3:DARN YOUR CLIFF HANGERS!!!
Oh god. Finally. After how many days, I now have my reason to be at TH-cam again.
Finaly a person who played Okamiden.
Eventually the emperor learned about her and tried courting her as well. Kaguya, however, told him the she could not accept his offer because she was about to leave. She basically tells the emperor she is an alien and before long, a group of entities come to take her back to her home. The version in the game is basically identical except for the tail end.
If you blow wind at the monkeys, they practically freak out! They look hilarious!!!
Whenever I watch a chuggaaconroy LP, I let it buffer all the way on 480p, make some food, then sit down and enjoy the show
so 3 lava rooms will stop people from bombing buildings or killing someone while they are out the building or coming in through the roof or shooting a hole in the side of the wall to get to the person?
I felt so scaared when Himiko was about to show her face. I felt like it was gonna be like when Yeta when totally Mirror Crazy in Twilight Princess. That still scares the crap out of me.

Red: Inferno
this may have helped him
THIS IS WHY I WAIT FOR LIKE 5 OF YOUR VIDEOS TO COME OUT!!!
... dumb cliff hangers... :P

i loved the story of princess kaguya of the moon
@HiddenSenka No. The term used is "RPG elements". You level up your HP and Ink, as well as a few other things, but your character itself doesn't level up. In fact, there is no level system. Without a level system, it can't be calssified as an RPG.
I always thought Kaguya was weird, she had this kind of "bubble" around her head. Now that its clear she is an alien it would make sense that it was kind of "visor"
grrrr chuggaa! that cliff hanger is just so... its... you got some splainins to do!
I think the developers made a reference to Issun's backstory with this line he says in the scene with Kaguya and Mr. Bamboo at 10:53 : "His precious grandchild... ... ... Huh? Oh, I wasn't thinking about home or anything... No, really!"

Damn you chugga!
I actually dont want to see these videos so you wont spoil anything, cause im planning to play this for a second playthrough! But i cant stop watching!
HOW COULD U END IT LIKE THAT AHHHH I CANT STAND CLIFFHANGERS... i ya chugga glad ur back :D
An ocean of lava inside a building made of wood and rice paper? The fire warden is not going to be impressed.
Its good to hear ur voice again Chuggaaconroy
I knew what Kaguya's story was as soon as I saw the rocket. There is a Japanese play, and an anime, based on this story called Oh! Edo Rocket.
Missed your updates Chugga, glad you're back and hope you feel better.
I've read Kaguya's story (in wikipedia!)
Apparently, it's one of the earilest proto-sci-fi stories I've ever read.
what a cliff hanger!!
Bowser has the same sequrity system, a sea of lava, he just executes it very poorly by putting BRIDGES over them
How does she keep molten lava inside her house. That stuff could probably burn the entire palace to the ground.
aww thats mean Chugga!!! you and your darn cliffhangers....oh well, makes me look forward to the next one.
not me since this is my second time seeing this scene and i cant remember if i cried the first time XD
issun was moved from when kaguya and mr bamboo hugged. and i was like awww. thats sweet.
I was worried about chuggaa because I check on my Ipod every day for new videos and hadn't seen one for a while. I sincerely hope he's feeling better.
