Man, that's, in my humble opinion, the most beautiful, the fullest, patch free beard I've ever seen.
Thanks man, I appreciate that!
@@GregBoswell428 Now, I need a favour. Please, tell me, what is the ratio between the lowest part of neckline and the chin area in terms of hair length. I'm thinking of growing a longer beard, and I don't know how to treat that submental triangle and the chin. Please, tell me.
@@DaniloDanny77 If you're going to grow a longer beard, I would just not trim the neckline at all. The hair on the neck will provide the girth and support your beard will need to look its finest
Greg Boswell id like to see your beard when it was on the longer side as I’m where u r in the vid now for a few years and was thinking about growing it further out. Like yourself I keep it clean
@@lenndawg1 what happens if neck hair already meets chest hair lol
It's crazy that I've watched so many videos on how to do this exact line up on the jawline & your simple trick is what helped me most. Thanks
I've tried different techniques from other channels but this gave me the best result. Cheers
Literally one of the most perfect beards ever. But not in an overdone way. Like it just looks sharp and natural.
Love this guys beard! Fits his face perfect. His grey even looks planned. Well done my friend....well done!
YOU SHOULD ALL WANT TO LOOK SHARP ALL THE TIME . YOU ARE GROWN MEN. NO WHINING. This was such an alpha male comment, I love it
Josh Bryan i loved that comment.
Josh Bryan perfect beard!
Exactly this is the attitude we need, too many so called men today are whinning about their and others outlooks (lack of beard, baldning, bad skin, bad jaw, etc) like girls!
I’m 17 haha
greenie2600 You’re talking about alpha males more than anyone else here.
I have always struggled to find the best way to form a good neckline that fits my face well.....I just tried this yesterday and my neckline has never looked better! You rock brother keep it up love the videos!
Thanks man, I'm glad it helped!
Another great video. You are the "Essential Craftsman" of the beard game.
Thank you for making these videos. I've had my beard for 6+ years and haven't had a good way to trim and groom it. Your videos are godsend. I tried asking friends how do they trim their breads and its not a comfortable conversation :D Plus you show it in your videos. Keep it up!
Thanks man, I'm glad it's helpful
Where your beard is right now is the exact look I’m going for. I have good genetic for that style but in the past I’ve rocked a cleanup scruffy look a lot. I trimmed my neck line closer to my jaw line. That is why I’m watching this video. The thing is I gave my face, checks, stash, etc a two or three week head start so I’m getting close to needing to carve in a proper beard neckline. Instead of taking it right up under my jawline. It looks like I’ll be fine even though many people seem to shun starting with more on the face than neck.
Good video. You're the first guy to mention that neck fat as you get older in relation to neck lines, if I trim any higher I look like a bullfrog!
Exactly! Beards, you gotta love 'em!
Thanks for the help! My husband’s regular barber isn’t doing beards just yet because of Covid, so I am learning how to do it, he has a very nice full white beard and mustache.
Thank you so much for letting me know. I'll bet his beard is really nice.
As soon as I saw your badass beard I knew good and well your videos were gonna be the best by far to watch and learn. Call it a hunch.
I’m 41 never grown a beard before, I was gonna end up with a chinstrap beard without even knowing what that is... glad I saw your video before I messed it up... nice 1 thanks !!
I'm glad I could help. I think I was 43 when I grew my first beard. And I've messed it up a lot. 😅
Thx bud. Will try this as struggling shaping neckline. Also digging the Billy Zane vibe 👍👍
I was so much worse at this until I watched this video, wish I saw it years ago! Thanks man
can you do a video explainin the different neck lines and reasons for doing them?
Only proper video for doing this I found! Thanks, will try tomorrow morning! Thanks
No one wants a gullet , yea getting old sucks, turned 39 a few months back, i enjoy these videos :), despite the videos being old they are still being watched.
I'm glad you enjoy them. Thanks for watching.
Nothing compliments a bald head better then a well shaped beard.
Yes and also nothing compliments full beard more than a bald head.
I totally agree! (I, too, now happen to be bald with a beard!)
Great video Greg. Yea as we age our chin does sag and no amount of weight lose fixes it. A beard hides it, so Nick line is super important. I’ll be 47 in 8 days so it’s important to make my neckline just above Adam’s Apple and essentially shave straight across w/head back, it puts nice line on w/a natural looking jaw and neckline. Appreciate you brother
If u take the neckline one finger above Adam’s apple it creates more squarely look and also trim a little below on the side (also one finger)
It works best for me, the shape looks good and symmetrical when u trim it this way.
I’m 21 by the way.
This guys alpha as fuck you can just tell
He has a beautyful beard. I'm now also growing my beard for the first time anf I have the same type of hair and beardshape. I hope it's gonna be the same like him because his beard is owsome. Maybe a tip if you read this is to wear big (squar shape) black glasses. Thats a owsome look that make you look like a strong smart man. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Looks sharp. I tilt my head back and shave everything under the gullet with a straight line.
Thank u so much I've been having trouble with getting a consistent neckline this is going to help alot much appreciated!
I like your delivery.
Best video ever on neckline.
Thanks!
Ok but why is your beard so perfect and why does mine look like a sick cat is sleeping on my face?
😅😅
Just give it time
it called genetics my friend !! only those who are blessed with insane genetics have this full dense beard !! MOST people are not blessed and have patches !!
You have to invest in a safety razor I find it much easier to remove the hair under your neck then the multi blades and plus blades are cheaper.
Frank Mancuso I find that myself, used to take the piss out of my granddad for using one but I won’t use anything else now and so much cheaper
Thank you Greg! Finally making the leap at age 27, I've always made the excuse I just dont have the genetics but I've realkzed2its been lack of knowledge and practuce6! Subbed and tuning in!
Sick looking beard. Like a lion’s mane 🦁
Good job Man excellent tutorial
Now i know what to do. My beard is thick enough but being inexperienced i cut up way high around the Adams apple area the first time i tried to do the neck line leaving me with an under curl if you know what I mean. Not far now from where I want it but it seemed like it took longer to catch up than it did to grow the actual beard its self. Thanks again 👌
If ii follow my ear line I will shave my jaw....lol, This doesn't work for all heads.
On your head and ears tho, it looks fantastic and works.
If I follow my ears it won't meet in the middle until about 3/4 of the way down my neck 🤣
Do the opposite then...instead of marking from the ears to the neck, mark from your neck...mark the point about 2 fingers thick (or quarter inch thick) above your adams apple, then create an imaginary curved line up towards the ears.voila
I realised that after looking at your ears you have the sides of the beard at an angle. I had like a "Duh!" moment and realised it looks so much better having it that way.
My neckbeard is starting to fill in now
Before I had a Chinstrap, but now the growth is spreading on my face and neck a little more each year.
I'm new to this self trimming facial hair stuff so I'm kind of lost.
I will shave my entire beard to even it out and try to grow a full beard now that my neck hair has began to grow in.
Any tips for facial hair to connect to the sideburn from the mustache?
Shampoo, Conditioner, and Oil isn't working as fast as I would like it to, but over the past 3 years of doing that routine it has made significant growth despite my genetics.
If I could pick any beard to have off the internet, it would be his
Thanks!
Hi Greg,
Great content as usual.
I'm bald and bearded and your tips help me out.
Any tips for for getting even sideburns?
I try to use my ear as a guide but still manage to mess up.
Thanks
How do you trim/maintain the hair at the neckline when it gets puffy?
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I agree with the way you line up your beard. The only issue I encounter is that I have a big scar on the left side of my face and neck. I have to allow my facial hair to grow a little longer in one spot to be able to cover the worst area that is right below my jawline. If I don't allow the hair to grow a bit longer, it leaves a noticeable patch that makes it look uneven with the other side. Anyways, take care and thanks again for the tips! Btw, nice beard brother. Peace
Nice beard tips. One question I can never seem to get a clear answer with would be the area between you’re sideburn and you’re ear running right down to you’re jawline/neckline. That is a huge problem area for me and I never seem to be able to match it up with my neckline. Any idea what I’m talking about?
This is what I was hoping to see too
your*** sideburn and your*** ear, not you're...
That is the alpha dog of beards bro...im jealous
I need your advice on which Foil shaver I should be using that actually works. I looked through your videos and am not seeing one on foil shavers? You really should make a video on which one actually works!! I need your advice..
I still can’t get my beard shaped like yours .. maybe one time I had it almost like that but I can’t seem to do it anymore
that was a very informative tutorial.
Thank you for the video.
Good video! I use a straight edge razor and it is the best razor for beard shaving.
Keep it up!
Great video, and your beard is perfect looking, with your shaved head. I’m sure your good looks helps too!
Thanks for the good video man i was looking for a good explanation for a while
Love the NO WHINING comment to funny Nice Videos new to beards very informative
Trimming the sides is the hardest thing to do. Last time I did it, I used a guard and ended up shaving a big chunk of hair.
Love your attitude man! Thanks for the video. It really helps.
Thank you. Very easy to follow. Now I can disguise my gullet.
😁
@@GregBoswell428 At 71 and finally starting to grow my beard (3 months now), I've been using your videos from the beginning. The best I've seen. And it DOES help to hide my gullet too:) Getting lots of compliments! Thanks Greg.
Quick question... If my underchin/ neck hair grows faster than the rest of my beard, do u think it would b fine to cut closer to the chin line? I also have a very slim fave, and an extremely pronounced Adams apple. Just for a little more info.
You have a awesome attitude Greg
No whining! 👏🏿👏🏿😆Glad you said that! Good video and advice!
Thanks, man!
What shaver should we get? Will a standard non electric blade work?
Nice videos the best on TH-cam my friend .i have a problem .i I am trying to grow my beard and trying to get the goat style but I trimmed it kind of short a bit higher than I supposed to .should I trim it all not the goat part and let it grow again to grow evenly ?
Thanks Kratos
This takes some practice for sure. I've tried trimming in front of the ear, and my hand (and the clippers) seem to go in the opposite direction that I want them to go! The problem is with the second angle mirror, not the front on views... Proceed with caution gentlemen!!
Man, I'm still utterly baffled by that. It's like being in a 'house of mirrors' at times. I've tried even getting the trimmer right where I need it, so all it takes it one quick motion and as soon as I start moving my hand it's like whooa... nope! So confusing.
This is the ideal beard, I've started balding so I'm wanting to grow a full beard like this. I just have a question, what number (in length) do you use on your beard for the sides/tache and chin? I'm unsure what number setting to use to maintain at. Thanks a lot!
I believe that it is a #3 guard used in a downward motion with the grain. My video, How To Trim A Medium Sized Beard or How to Trim a V-Shaped Beard might be helpful to you.
@@GregBoswell428 brilliant, thanks a lot for that!
Great videos. Could you explain how to properly hold trimming shears when trimming your beard (struggling on my jaw lines: hands, mirrors, shears ????).
Great video, well demonstrated.
Hi Greg! Isn't there any way I'll get mad if I shave my head for hair?
Hey man I’ve been stopping right below my jawline like you talked about not doing and I knew Something was looking off about it and came across your vid, thanks. Really excited to try your method. However I’ve got about an inch growth with my current facial hair, do you recommend completely restarting? Also I have a smaller chin (it doesn’t protrude much), in your experience will this neckline method help or hurt that compared to the other way?
I wouldn't start all over again unless you just want to. It will start to blend in easy enough if you just give it time. I've done the same thing before. I'm not really sure what to tell you concerning your chin.
Greg Boswell ok thanks man will give it time to blend in. My chin isn’t bad, it’s just nothing amazing lol. Have a good day brother
Thank you. Very informative. Wanting to shape up my husbands beard he’s looking shaggy. 😊
All of our beards are right now lol
Please someone tell me which actor has this exact same voice and intonation?
Armie Hammer(?)
Can you do a video of how u keep your goatee fuller/ thicker and trim around it with a full beard to start that look please?I notice your goatee is longer than the rest.when I try to do under the goatee,I always mess up
My goatee is actually the same length as the rest of the beard
Always looking sharp, Greg!
Did he say he uses conditioner as a shaving cream? Never heard of anyone doing that before
I heard another youtuber called B the barber say it too and it works surprisingly very well.
Any advice on transforming from the trimming too high beard to a full one like this, ideally without it looking shit while it grows out for too long
bro that beard looks amazing
Great neckline. It hurts me to see guys with the chin strap beard. I just want to tell them, "STOP TRIMMING YOUR NECKLINE SO HIGH, BROOO."
Daniel Willis OMGoodness!!! I cannot give a bigger 👍!!!
The ear technique really only works if your ears have a straight edge, but that's not the case for everyone. My ears are round, from top to bottom, there is no "line", therefore the technique doesn't work.
Great beard man. Holy shit!
Thanks!
YOU SHOULD ALL WANT TO LOOK SHARP ALL THE TIME THIS IS MY MOTTO IN LIFE
There you go! 🙂👍
What’s your mirror set up for viewing your face as you trim? Thanks
Great question! I have the mirror in front of me, the medicine cabinet mirror on my left, and then the phone’s camera that I’m recording on, on the front left.
my little daughter, says you are my doppelganger :)
Great beard
Thanks for this video! I'm going for a beard and this helps create depth to it
Dear Greg,
Thank you for the great video...
I wanted to ask if you should start to trim your jawline even if you just started to grow your beard.
My beard grows really fast (as all my body hair due to my genetics - bald too -).
I don't wanna look like I don't take care of it.
Yeah, but I would start the line no further up than about an inch above the Adam's apple
@@GregBoswell428 hey! Thank you so much for the advice! And thanks for the great content!
New subscriber here and bro I love your vids. Recently transitioned to a more groomed and tamed appearance as far as my beard goes and been watching all your vids ever since! Good information bro and continue to share!
Great video and great tips I’m gonna let mine grow in like that to help it look fuller
Great video. Thank you for making it.
Very Good, i will try that. Thanks for Sharing. Best Greets 👍
under the bottom lips and below the mustache you have it full lol its there any way to make my beard like that? mine is only in the middle of the mouth below the lips
No, I doubt it. It either grows there naturally or it doesn't.
Aren’t the sides suppose to be lower? So it has more of a straight line look? I never understand how I should do it
No, that's not the natural growth pattern. Besides, it would look a little strange.
Have you considered laser hair removal for the neckline?
No way!
My beard is like this at the moment where the Adam’s Apple area is lower than the eat side and i think it looks bad I think it need to be in a straight line all across lower the ear area or bring up the Adam’s Apple area so it looks like your face is longer
Correction yours doesn’t look bad I’m just saying a different way of doing it maybe I’m just never satisfied
Do you taper the edges of your neckline like you do the sideburns so there isn't a hard line?
No, not at all
Great neck line advice...FINALLY! 🙏🏻
Thanks heaps such a simple Easyer way awsome explanation alot better than the two finger above the Adams 🍎 videos ☺
It's hard to see under there cause it's a mirror reflection.
Excellent job thx
Hey what do use on your head to get that nice clean look?
I shave with conditioner so that helps.
@@GregBoswell428 thanks 👍🙂
Hey, I need your advice Greg.
So I don''t have long beard (~ 3 cm on chin) but I shaved neckline really high. Should I shave everything to one length, or just let it grow and don't touch anything, and when beard will grow on neck, then set new neckline? :) Best
Just let it grow in. It shouldn't take long to catch up.
Hey bud.
What type of clipper is that? Have a link or name?
Thanks in advance.
It's actually a $35 Wahl hair trimmer kit. I just threw those away and got a new$35 Wahl hair trimmer kit. It's in my latest video about trimming my big beard shorter.
Great tip. That helped a lot
Yo man. Im 18. My beard grows SOOOO slow. I can grow a pretty nice beard. No patches but it seems like its always super short and so I can always see my cheek skin. Sideburns and chin have depth and so does under my chin. Cheek has almost no depth and the whole thing seems to grow just super slow. Seems like a half inch in 3 months. I have a pretty normal, healthy diet and I take vitamin supplements. I also take care of my hair and beard. Could this just be genetics? Maybe it just WILL NOT grow any more? Or is there something I can do. I definitely have the hairs and follicles but the length is killing me.
It probably has more to do with your age than anything else. It's pretty tough for most guys to grow a thick beard when they're that young. It will probably pick up significantly around your mid-20's.
thanx again for a good vid
