  • In today's video I am cooking up some delicious smoked wings! Now, I absolutely LOVE smoked wings, but I particularly like smoked chicken wings with that CRISPY skin we all try to achieve. Lucky for you with this recipe I will show you how to achieve the most amazing, tender, juicy, and crispy chicken wings right on your pellet smoker! These smoked wings take about 45 minutes and are perfect for your next party, football Sunday, or just for a snack! The combination of rubs and sauce on these smoked chicken wings really bring it all today! Now, the most important question is....are you team flat or team drums? Let me know in the comment below!!
Also, be sure to see the full crispy smoked chicken wing recipe below!

-Tailgater's BBQ Party Rub (link below)
    -Blues Hog Wild Wing Sauce
    | Instructions |
    Prep:
    1. Season the chicken wings with a light coat of Party Rub followed by a medium coach of Ash Kickin' BBQ Honey Chipotle rub.

    1. Set the temperature to 325º F.
    2. Put the wings on the smoker skin side down and let cook for 15 minutes.
    3. After 15 minutes, flip the wings and let them cook for another 15 minutes.
    4. After another 15 minutes, flip the wings one more time and let them cook for 15 more minutes.

I use a smaller wood chip smoker. I set it to 275F but the temp tends to fluctuate between 250 - 275 so it's not a constant 275. I add wood chips (cherry & hickory or cherry & apple) at the start and again 1 hour later. Total smoke/cook time is about 2hrs & 15 minutes give or take 5min. They come out great! Pro tip: pre brining your wings then patting dry before you add your dry rubs/marinades makes them taste even better.

I’m SO glad someone else is talking about taking wings to a higher temperature! I always take mine to 190-200 and they’re crispy but yet SO tender and juicy. I think a lot of people get stuck on the “165” line and forget that wings can render so much more fat and connective tissue and STILL be juicy but unlock SO much more flavor! Same with thighs and drumsticks

I just tried this and it was super simple and really good. I’ve never cooked wings this high, but it worked well and gave a nice crisp skin. Did not coat them, we ate them rub only and they were a hit.

This is officially now my go to method. Every other method I’ve tried for pellet leaves them a little on the rubbery side. I leave some with just a rub and other with a couple of different bbq sauces (mustard and tomato). Big hit every time! Thanks!

Exactly how I’ve been cooking wings lately. Cooking the sauce down on the grill makes the best wings. I love sauce but don’t like really wet wings

  • @staciecarverd8136

Looks fantastic. I like my wings saucy, so I'd probably do one more round of sauce after the last stint on the grill, but I'm sure they're quite tasty just as they were. Now don't forget, you have to have some blue cheese for those wings -- NO ranch dressing! As we say here in Buffalo, ranch is the devil's dip. Though no dip for really good wings is completely fine, sometimes you don't want to mess with perfection., but still, NO RANCH!

To me, it depends on the kind of wood or wood mix the pellets are made from.

Probably cherry, it doesnt really matter when cooking at higher temps.

Is the skin really crispy, or rubbery like 99% of wings lol. If it’s chewy it ain’t crispy

Call me crazy, but don't they have skin in all sides? What is skin side down?

    • @AshKickinBBQ

There is one side that has a much thicker chunk of skin. That’s what I meant, and is pretty common sense.

    • @AshKickinBBQ

You don't need to see the smoke to get smoke flavor, research blue smoke and there's your answer, budzo.
