  • Today we start converting the factory torsen bar front suspension into a coilover type suspension with Miata coilovers! Lots of fabrication to make this work so hopefully it goes well!

    Gingium is actually blows my mind how far you have come, just a few years ago you were sticker bombing your interior and rattle can tinting your tail lights, now you have your own shop and actually work on your own cars, thats why you stand apart from other car youtubers, you do literally everything to your cars, not a vlog of going to the shop and paying people to work on your car for you, keep up the good work my guy

    where your little triangles are at on your top mounts you should do two bars going from each triangle down to the Frame to keep the shock Tower from Bowing in and out

    • @deatherageperformance8367
      @deatherageperformance8367 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hououin Kyouma the wheel wells are mounted with 4 to 8 12 mil bolts they come off that's not strong enough to hold them he needs to weld it to the frame then they will be strong enough the brace is decent but it needs help

    Id say reinforce those shock mounts drastically because we all know welds aren’t very reliable especially when it comes to the weight, motion and vibration of a engine you really do not want not one weld to snap after hitting a bump. Plus its a drift truck sliding that thing will put alot of stress on those welds with the weight of the engine in the front.

    • @motorider7179
      @motorider7179 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hova Street King and he did not do proper cleaning before welding when he welded to the frame

    • @rayfrmklz
      @rayfrmklz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Motorider717 yeah I didn’t see him sand down to bare metal but it should be fine if he reinforces it more and make the welds thick enough.

    • @rhissian5260
      @rhissian5260 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      if welds weren't relieable, most of the worlds machinery wouldn't work. I agree he should brace the tower underneath the frame or something but not becuase the welds, but because that metal will bend before those welds give.

      @size_censor2967 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Definitely not better than Adam I mean gingium has a great channel but Adam is so much better to watch and he’s pretty funny and the only reason Alberto is around is because Adam doesn’t know everything about cars plus who doesn’t like working on cars with your homies I mean it’s part of the car scene to help each other and motivate each other to do better

    • @daarupappe
      @daarupappe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      SiZe_Censor Adam LZ is great guy and the best thing about him is that is a relatively big TH-camr but keeps his content simple and has no ego and I love it that he works on his own cars on his own with a little help from Alberto but we can all agree that his content becomes a bit boring because he does the same thing again and again

  • @Elmer_RedEagle
    @Elmer_RedEagle 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    You need more, what you built will handle radial force(up, down) just fine. But will not hold up to lateral force(left, right etc) in the long run. I'm sure there is a way you could tie into the fenders or build something that will provide the support it needs. Maybe a partial tube chassis front end? And down the road a strut tower brace that also ties into the firewall or something.

    • @_Gingium_
      @_Gingium_  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I cant weld anything to the body of the car. The body and frame flex seperate of each other.
      I will however build a strut bar connecting the two strut towers. Should provide enough lateral strength.

    If you don't want your miter cuts to be longer than one another you need to split the degree change into each piece of metal. So you would want to cut a 22.5° miter cut into each piece to achieve the 45° and having both cut pieces the same length.

    • @blindabinda1234
      @blindabinda1234 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good job on those strut towers though.

    • @cafn8ed74
      @cafn8ed74 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I am digging this build, and I hate to pick at details when somebody is jumping head first into a huge project like this, but I really think a proper miter (one that doesn't have gaping holes on the inside of the corner) is kind of important- especially on a piece that's as heavily stressed as this one. Geometry is geometry, and that's not right. I'd hate to see a failure from something as basic as that. Looking forward to watching smoke puffing sideways from the back tires.

    • @BADDTIMES
      @BADDTIMES 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's more that the frame doesn't have a square edge than his mitres but ye probs something that could be better

    Check to see if you can get that control arm bolt out! From the video it looks like you boxed it in when you welded on the strut tower, hopefully not!
    Also boxing in the top of the strut tower should help to keep it from flexing, weld some flat bar around the outside edge, it’s such and important part of the suspension overkill will pay off later.
    Good luck, really happy to see people taking on projects like this!

    Love the build series, keep up the good work. Only thing I recommend is weld some support reinforcements on the angles on the main hoop and weld it to the frame to brace it up even more.

    little tip, notching all the square tubes by 22,5 instead of half of 'em 45 would have made all that a little prettier and sturdier ;) Love the build, keep it up!
