Thank you for having TD share his experiences an acquired wisdom. Some great insights to be gained here.

This man produced Prefab Sprout’s Steve McQueen, my favorite album of the 80s! Long live the Dolby!

Outstanding album. You basically went to the record shop, put on the album and randomly picked a couple of tracks to listen to. And then the album was bought!!! And nearly 40 years later it still gets played in my house!

It was Dolby who discovered Prefab Sprout.

@@tomneff7030 Sort of. They had already released Swoon and were being messed around by A&R men at the record label. Dolby is an inspiration!! Love how.he has continued to be that eccentric British mad scientist!!!!

I’m amazed by what TD did with the drums in Blinded by science. You’re such a genius Mr. Dolby. I’m a fan then and now✌🏻❤️

I remember Thomas Dolby showing me synthesizers with the fly in the box on Jim hensons fafner hall back in 1990 when I was 5. Son of Ray Dolby. Both won the genetic lottery in terms of intelligence and creativity.

Whether or not this interview was intended to be spiritual or not, I feel it is incredibly spiritual and inspiring beyond almost any interview I've ever heard by any artist.

This surely deserves more likes, views and appropriate flabberghastashion. Now everybody fire up their hifi and listen to The Flat Earth in highest resolution possible. 🧸💕🎼

Dolby is so intelligent, kind, and well-spoken. It's gutting to hear about the row with Joanie. Too bad that was never resolved. Dolby's a huge talent and will forever be a huge influence for my own music.

Thank you for sharing this great interview. Thomas Dolby is one of those people who has both the innate and extrinsic skill that he mentions early on in your conversation. Getting to speak with him and learn from him, in my mind, is like a student politician getting to intern for their favorite president, or a pianist getting a master class from Beethoven or Chopin. Except in your case, it's for real. I don't know why Thomas Dolby isn't a household name (despite his lack of aspirations to be famous!) everywhere, but I can only imagine it has to do with some of his attributes that make him so great to begin with...his humility and his glowing intellect that might be beyond some people's comprehension or appreciation. As well as how he's chosen to apply his talents mostly behind the scenes. Along similar lines, this video ought to have oodles of views. Treasure your experience! Thank you again so very much!

Nice one! TD is the Kid, and his trajectory is inspired. You're a good interviewer and congrats on being a student of his. That is super cool. Cheers!

Thomas! How dare you! KROQ was an early Dolby supporter! j/k To his point, I have no idea where my own place can be in electronic music. For sure, making albums is dead. Maybe maybe randomly showing up in public spaces? Say something relevant there? Bless his heart. Old acquaintance. London flat? He’s right, to make music you must listen. 20:17 I would guess the easy part to mess up in “Heroes” is the chord progression. Even Garson thought it was tricky. Sorry to hear about Joni! Wise thoughts about collaborating. 😢

His honesty in revealing his hiatus with JM is very touching.May I suggest that she was a little lost at this loint in her career and trying to reassert her identity at ghis point.Thomas was trying to bridge the void.

I've heard the same. They don't work alone. "Banksy" is about 5 people , and work in one of top 3 universities in the country. It is a bit of a con, the mystery has been carefully managed.
