good job, good song. a classic. and this yamaha electones are so incredible. I have a fx20 and a hx1, I think and all these models FS, FX, until the ELX are so amazing. lets post more songs..
@rdproductions01 Hi. This Electone has an in-built rhythm section consisting of 64 distinct patterns and 48 fills. The balance between cymbal and drum instruments can be adjusted, which produces more variations. There are also two rhythmic chord sections and an arpeggio section. The onboard rhythm sequence programmer can string the patterns and fills together into a maximum of 256 bars. Here I've used the sequencer and rhythmic chords, although the sequencer wasn't actually necessary.
@rdproductions01 You have great observation skills. There is a footswitch built into the expression pedal that can be used to start and stop the rhythm, trigger a fill-in or activate the glide effect (which has nothing to do with the rhythm). Here, I started the rhythm sequence using this footswitch. It is also the reason I didn't really need the sequencer for this song. I could have just as easily used it to trigger the fills as required.
Thanks for the comment. I have a soft spot for the F-Series because you can sit down and play them. It's hard to spend more than 1 minute "programming" them for a song. That said, I wouldn't part with the HX or D-Deck either. I've also enjoyed your videos over the last year so. Yes, we really should post more.
LOL. This instrument was made early in the digital era (circa 1983), and therefore carries a lot of design features from its analogue forebears. Most notably, each sound/effect has a corresponding button/control (there's over 200 buttons and 50 other controls). BTW, this was not the largest model in the range. By 1987, digital displays and menus resulted in more goodies with less buttons. These days, you get a touch sensitive display and little else. I like the shiny buttons ;-).
Not quite. In addition to the full sized keyboards, the FX-20 also has 2 to 4 extra voices in most (but not all) voice sections. It also has more flute footages. Other than that, they are more or less the same. In particular, they have the same rhythm section and amplification system (although the FX-20 has a slightly larger woofer).
The FS500 is electronically the same as the FS70. There are some differences in the cabinet though. The FS70 has a port for the MDR as well, although it's rare to find one with a working MDR. The FS500 was only sold in North America.
The organ in this video IS an FS-70! As far as I'm aware, the FS-500 was sold only in the United States (I live in Australia). They are electronically the same, but have slightly different woodwork and console colours.
My take on this is that the F-Series had a more clinical organ sound than non-digital machines. The warmness of analogue sounds was/is very hard to approximate using digital technology (particularly using mathematics based techniques such as FM). Although I grew up with the F-Series, I also played Wurlitzers from the late '70s with built-in Leslies. My D-Deck does a good approximation, but I think the real thing is better. Hmmm. The FS-70 has a Leslie socket...
Good to see you weren't greedy like I was. I wanted an FX-20. I'd have one now, but they're just too damn big for a normal house and I couldn't bring myself to leave one in the garage.
Just love the sound. My FS 70 stands silently while I find a 'transplant surgeon' to work on it. To say that I am shattered is an understatement. I have resorted to logging on to youtube to listen to you on your FS 70 just to remind me how awesome the sound is. Unfortunately they are rare in NZ Should go back to Aus to live. eBay has a few over there that I could perhaps compromise with myself and get. Can you post another tune on your FS70 for me?

@anlynes Ah, now I understand how it works. Thank you very much!
I presume only the flute voices would be sent to the Leslie, but have no way to confirm. I don't have an analogue instrument to compare the tremeo effect to, but for what it's worth... I actually prefer the effect on the HX-1. I think the WM flute voices produce a more natural tone with tremelo. The flutes on the D-Deck are OK, but are a bit too crisp IMO. Having 16 configurable "Rotary" effects to choose from also complicates matters. The AWM organ sounds are pretty good though.
Hey guys - just a question - in no way does this comment on anlynes performance - which is SPECTACULAR! Question: Is it just me, or can anyone else notice the difference between the tremolo on the E-45/75 as opposed to the FX series tremolo?? It was the ONLY thing I didn't like about the Fx-series. I remembered this 'quirk' when the trems were switched on at 0:35. Does anyone who has an older D/E model or FS/FX model notice the difference - or is it my imagination? Again - gr8 performance!
I just acquired an E-10AR and it's tremolo is produced by a physically spinning speaker inside the organ, not digitally reproduced - I think that might be the difference you're hearing. You'd have to assume most, if not all the E series had this feature.
You Just answered another question - my E-45 had a leslie socket, too, but then i was always happy with the tremelo with, say, full flutes/tibias or jazz/hammond settings. So i was wondering if the F-series had them, too. I wonder if hooking a leslie up would effect just the flutes section - or the whole intrument? Hearing the hammond sound on the el series and later, the trem effect appears to revert back to pre-F series electones ... your experiences? God I miss my electone ...
Hi I have FS 70 electone all shiny and beautiful like original seldom used for years but the sound is amazing. Does anyone want to buy it from Canada Barrie Ontario??
I was a child of the early 70s, so I remember the 80s well... including the Jane Fonda spandex. I also remember fashion disasters such as the Miami Vice look, acid washed jeans and big hair. My sister was/is a dancer, so there are also unfortunate memories of leg warmers and plastic pants.
Buenos días sr profesor, dónde compró ud ése instrumento musical? Cuanto cuesta ? Favor publicar la dirección del distribuidor, en que lugar del mundo construyen
Great job! by the way, are you playing the FAME song or getting ready to fly a plane there?...hehe, I had never heard of this so-called electone, now I kinda really want one!
By now Yamaha had completely removed the word 'Organ' from the entire PR. There is an FS 500 for sale for $250 here in Ohio, but then again there is a nice model just above the B75-N (B80-N??) here in Columbus for $75 that I'd prefer the tone of...isn't it funny people used to talk about 'tone', but digital doesn't seem to shine in the area of 'tone' like analog IMHO. I have 9 organs and they are all analog, I'd love to have one organ that did it all, but it doesn't exist5 Wurli's, 2 Hammond.
Hi, When you're learning a piece of music like this, I know there are songbooks called 'fake music books'. They have the keyboard or whatever parts. Do you learn the melody or the chord part first? I already have a PSR-230 and will be buying one of the old Yamaha's in the next week or so. Can I download fakebooks from the Internet for free or a very small cost?

@anlynes And it is controllable with your feet? When the rhythm starts i don't see a move with your hands or something...

Has that Elactone an integrated rythmbox or are you playing with a backtrack? I don't see you controlling the rythmbox/arpeggiator...
Hello anlynes, I would like to ask where I can refer to the notes of the song "Fame," which you play. Please let me know the title of the edition, publisher, year of publication and the composer. Many thanks and best regards francis2010mb
There is only one thing better than listening to an organ being played and that it is to see it being played.
Thanks.
Phenominal! Can't stop watching. I am getting one next month.

The touch is on this model
Wow....I love this...great sound from a classic instrument !! ;-)
You make the FS 70 rock!!!!! I wish I could have got it out of our FS 70 before we sold it a long time ago...
This has to be my favorite version
Really really wonderful!! It gives me the urge to get covered in spandex and dig up these old Jane Fonda aerobic videos. ;)

Ah, now I understand how it works. Thank you very much!
well done i too have a fs 70 but cant get it to sound like yours..too many buttons lol. well done and they are great organs
LOL. That's a mental picture I could have done without ;-)
ur so amazing man!

Its a static lesly (Digial) only for tibias
sounds fantastic for an early 1980s organ
I guess only time will tell. Thanks for watching.
i caught myself singing along! :-o!
Does that mean I am getting old? Haha!
Great performance!
Sehr nice 😍👍

Hello, I need it! Is it still available?
@xabbukhozek actually, its not the song from scarface, but its kinda similar...
If you can find one, probably around 100-200 USD. You can get its big brother, the FX-20, for around 300-400 USD.

The song is called "Fame". It's from a 1980's move and follow-on TV series.
