      Wealthfront is a digital investment company that also offers cash management services, including high-yield savings and checking accounts. While a bank run is a rare event, it is possible for any financial institution to experience a sudden and significant increase in withdrawals that exceeds its ability to meet its customers' demands for cash.
      However, it is important to note that Wealthfront is not a traditional bank and its cash management accounts are not FDIC insured. Instead, Wealthfront has partnered with several FDIC-insured banks to hold customers' cash deposits and provide FDIC insurance up to $1 million.
      In the event of a significant increase in withdrawals or other unforeseen circumstances, such as a financial crisis or a cyber attack, it is possible that Wealthfront could experience liquidity issues or other operational challenges that could impact its ability to meet its customers' demands for cash. However, the FDIC insurance coverage provided through its partner banks helps to mitigate this risk for customers.
      That being said, it is important for customers to be aware of the risks associated with any financial institution, including the potential for a bank run or other unexpected events. Customers should carefully review the terms and conditions of their accounts, understand the FDIC insurance coverage, and monitor their accounts regularly to ensure that their funds are safe and secure.

      You want to look at short term investments as well - securities like treasuries or loans that have terms under 1 year - they're very liquid and suffer negligible hits from rate moves, so if a bank had 10% of assets in those, they could very easily pull that % as well, to raise cash.
      Most banks won't have a massive amount in short duration investments, but they will have some. More than 2%.

    • @nathanielcradle-yourrichfriend
      @nathanielcradle-yourrichfriend ปีที่แล้ว

      Listen TH-cam, Charles Schwab is a financial services company that offers a range of products and services, including brokerage accounts, investment management services, banking services, and more. While a bank run is a rare event, it is possible for any financial institution to experience a sudden and significant increase in withdrawals that exceeds its ability to meet its customers' demands for cash.
      However, it is important to note that Charles Schwab Bank, which is a subsidiary of The Charles Schwab Corporation, is an FDIC-insured bank. This means that customer deposits in Charles Schwab Bank are insured by the FDIC up to $250,000 per depositor, per account ownership category, in the event of bank failure or insolvency.
      In addition, Charles Schwab Bank maintains adequate reserves and liquidity to ensure that it can meet its customers' demands for cash and other banking services. The bank also regularly undergoes regulatory examinations and stress tests to evaluate its financial strength and resilience to adverse economic conditions.
      While no financial institution is immune to unforeseen events or operational challenges, Charles Schwab Bank's FDIC insurance coverage and strong financial position help to mitigate the risk of a bank run or other significant disruptions to its operations.
      That being said, it is important for customers to be aware of the risks associated with any financial institution and to monitor their accounts regularly to ensure that their funds are safe and secure. Customers should also be familiar with the terms and conditions of their accounts and understand the FDIC insurance coverage. These type of things are hard to determine. If your money is tied up in equities, this is a different scenario.
