  • The dragon squat is an excellent display of unilateral single leg strength, mobility & balance.
    Learning the dragon squat can be done using the progressions in this video.
    Some of the harder progressions may not be available to beginners when they start, but over time with practice and patience the legs will adapt and the dragon squat will reveal itself.

    I did the dragon squat last night. It wasn’t near as bad as I thought it was going to be. My body was already conditioned for it. Like the first time that I did pull-ups. I didn’t do one pull-up & work my way up I did eight & then started doing them in multiple different ways & then gymnastic moves came pretty easy. Fun!

      Well done! Full depth dragon squats have been a long hard road for me. I'm jealous!

      @@agrifforama thanks & don’t be! I’ve been watching your videos & you’re way ahead of me & that’s why I’m following you & you’re not following me 😂
      Bc of my limb length, hip width & other variables some exercises don’t take me long to accomplish while others take me forever!
      I do Asian squats, horse stance & other low to the ground workouts pretty smoothly! I think simply bcz of genetics... I have a daughter that is a Marine, physical therapist & body builder. She has a hard time doing pull-ups simply bcz of genetics, she has long limbs… She’s still a badass. She can leg press 500 lbs! Genetics… very strong legs!
      I have wimpy legs! My body likes calisthenics, isometrics, and low impact endurance exercises. Her body builds big muscles & she’s a runner. God created all of us with strengths & weaknesses & the ability to overcome almost anything!
      I’m passing down your channel to my workout buddies. Take care!

    Some good ideas and well presented, I'll try some of the regressions. I was working on Hawaiian Squat, can do them one side and the other is very stiff. You're doing well with it given you're more muscular than the average movement guy, that probably makes it harder to get the full move 👍

    • @agrifforama
      @agrifforama  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes I think build and lever length can determine how hard this can be for someone but with enough strength and mobility it can be done even if you are on the more muscular side. Let me know how you go with the regressions.

    Great progressions, you were so close on that second attempt. Isn’t this shit so fun. Thanks for the positive motivation.

      Thanks Joey. It feels pretty close now. I'm fighting the temptation to just keep retesting over and over ha ha. More work with regressions and it will happen when the time is right!

    such an awesome squat. I saw roye goldschmidt do it years ago and have since been training for it. A very beautiful transitional squat when doing any kind of slow flow routine

      Roye is the man! Have you unlocked it yet? Thanks for tuning in!

      @@agrifforama you're welcome :) I had the pistol squat down then and had been doing a lot of locomotion stuff so I unlocked it fairly fast, though it doesn't nearly look as good as royes' - but then again who does, next to him.
      And you're just seconds away from achieving it!
      Another fun squat: toes and nose touching the wall, followed by an ass-to-grass squat.

    What about holding the foot? Do you feel that is a big no-no?

    • @agrifforama
      @agrifforama  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Im trying to learn without relying on holding the foot just to avoid getting into that habit and building up the adduction in the tail leg needed for the hold but I still think it's a win if you can do the full depth squat even with holding the foot.
