Have read in another post on Reddit the suggestion of only making gold refinements drop with materials only available from CP100 and up. Means the bots farming maple or iron will only get green and blue when that material gets refined.

I refined 3000 runedite last night and only got 11 temp alloys, tonight after seeing this I got 6 from only refining like 300 to test. I though the game hated me. Dan boys, this explains it then. I go to Kenniatis Roost to farm different items, mainly for daily endeavors and there are a lot of these bits there. They farm Ore mainly
Always got less components from small amounts, than from big bunches. With one big but: it seems it's kind of a proc chance for getting higher tier items is the same, but formulas for bigger amounts significantly multiply amount of items you get, but not a chance. I.e. In large amount refinement I got either tonns of gold mats or purple and they kinda replacing each other. With small amount it works the same way, but amount of mats lesser, but you "roll the rulette" many times and by those your chances to get at least some gold mats are much higher. It looks almost like gambling strategy: put everything to won a jackpot, or put in small bunches to have lesser but sustainable profit.
I think that because it’s based on rng, you are averaging out your odds by doing it several times rather than just getting the one rng hit if that makes sense.
i too think it's that. If you refine 3k plat dust, at once, you only get one change to get good rng, if you refine those little bit at a time, it can't be bad rng all the times.
I routinely refine 10k mats whatever the max limit is. Because I buy lots of raw mats. The range is usually 42-78 gold mats when I refine and that's across all of the mats. So percentage is 4 to 7 percent. I've refined probably over 2 million mats over the years. It's definitely rng because sometimes I'll do 100k mats and get 700 gold mats or something like that. And sometimes I'll switch and only get 400. You never know.
So I don’t think zos has anything to do with it, it’s just math. Basically by doing smaller batches you give yourself more dice rolls. This way if you refine 100 times at once you take the risk of getting a really bad roll all at once. If you refine in small batches your average will likely be higher because you have more chances to get good rolls to even the odds.

I'm glad you did a video on this, because I want to to believe the conspiracy, but my own data suggests the gold mat rate seems to be ~1 for every 200 raw mats, or about .5%. I don't do the exit/reenter crafting station thing, but instead stay in the crafting menu and refine 10 at a time. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but iirc ESO didn't always have the "Refine Max" option and you could only refine 10 at a time in the crafting menu. Perhaps the legacy code supporting the old crafting method still exists, and is a completely different calculation than the new one that doesn't yield as much gold mats. This would also support the industry joke that developers don't refactor/change old code, they just add more. This is just my tinfoil hat theory.
I noticed recently I seemed to get more experience deconstructing a smaller amount of the same objects than larger, just wished I noticed that a bit sooner...

Hell even hard-core players don’t want to do the mind numbing experience of picking stuff up around the map for hours and then hoping for good RNG. I play the game hard-core and can barely afford anything since endgame cost so much. Man I feel that the game doesn’t respect my time since praying to the RNG God only gets me maybe one upgrade material etc.
I think the smaller refine quantities result in more lucrative alloys. However, my schedule mirtors yours and I don't have unlimited time to refine lime that either. I hate the bots. Tbey are all over Betnikh, Bal Foyen, and Khenarthi's Roost. ZOS should really crack down on this activity.
on 1 hand bots are bad but on the other they help flood the market which lowers the cost of gold mats...I remember a time when temp alloy was 10-12k each so kiss a bot next tine you see them and thank them that your sword doesn't cost 80k to uograde

The bots are definitely frustrating. Particularly when I am trying to compete like an endeavor and show up in a zone that has been completely vacuumed by them. I am guessing reporting them is pointless as I would guess they just create a different toon and keep going. Bummer for sure.
Is it a waste of time to report the bots in game? Sometimes when I’m running around Betnikh before an auction I just run around and click on bots and report them in game. I was hoping if nothing else that I was pissing bot makers off and making it harder for them in hopes of discouragement… I don’t know anything about botting though so maybe I’m only making myself feel better LOL

Wouldn't bother with small refinement - too much time wasted. I prefer to stack up at least 1k raw mats, then refine in one go. Usually get between 6 and 10 gold mats per 1k and it's a good enough rate of return and I don't burn hours in tedium
Lol. I have a habit of going farming when I'm stressed out and need to unwind. I also tend to forget to refine until I run out of materials while doing my daily writs 😂
So the guy just has theories, and can't confirm refining small or large amounts of materials gives you more or less materials. I believe what I seen with my own eyes and I am going to go with that.

Make a nightblade crafter. Twisted path messes with there timeing. Bear trap helps with the standing bots.

I refine my mats basically every other day. It's so easily to wind up with a lot of regular mats
I started this method doing groups of 5 then coming away from the station then go bk into it

Sure! Basically it’s alleged that switching zones after you get the flip card (the one that pops up in the middle random) resets your rng
