As someone who recently got a PhD... Yeah, they're a load of crap more often than not. It's not about being knowledgeable or intelligent or analytical so much as it is showing off that you can stick with a single project longer than two years and then tell your committee what they want to hear. Also, the "Wop wop wop wop" sound effect in the soundtrack officially occupies the space formerly occupied by Cowbell, seeing someone in a studio with a sheet of metal, waving it back and forth in time to the music, like a robotic maid hanging her sheets... Or maybe I'm reading into it too much.

Well there’s fandom for pretty much anything. Like I know a lot of people who watch 80s slasher movies all of the time and I don’t see how that wouldn’t apply to disco
This movie could have been so much better if Miguel was depicted as being legitimately sane after those five years (they could have changed the opening scene somehow to depict him having an isolated psychotic episode). More emphasis on the gaslighting/blaming of Miguel could have been really effective, especially considering how much he loves his sister.

Great Review Brandon. seems like you somehow got a German version of the movie. Well at least the title card says 'The saw of death' in German. Does this make it the European prequel to the Saw movies? 😁
The movie was a West German co-production. Even though Franco was Spanish, he had difficulty working in his homeland for many years, because he kept running afoul of local censors and the Francoist government. He was enough of a pariah that they put him on a blacklist alongside Luis Buñuel for a while.
I like the idea of everyone being a killer. I was kind of hoping all the killers would go after Angela and fight it out who gets to kill her lol. Maybe in the remake

Came here after learning about “Steamboat Willie” Mickey Mouse becoming public domain, and the resulting new slasher movie to come this year, “Mickey’s Mouse Trap”, which seems to be a combination of FNAF, Scream, and a little bit of this movie, in that the killer is dressed up as Mickey Mouse. Uncle Jess was ahead of his time. 😄
