  • Here is a demonstration of the SEARS Kenmore Model 5813170 Sewing Machine. I'll show you the key parts of this machine, how to thread the sewing machine, and a demonstration of the various stitch styles / patterns. The satin stitch, if you are interested in machine embroidery, is fantastic! Very smooth.

    Thank you, My mom left me hers when she passed and I have not been able to sit down and get it working but once since I got it almost 4 years ago. I will be getting it set up this week and this will help a lot. over the years I have used it more than she did but it's been a long time since I used it because of the tension was never right and that is something I will be getting fixed as well. I still have over 50 years of tread in the drawers I will neer throw away because of her buying it but I will head to Walmart this week to stock it with new tread. Thanks again

    so how exactly do i thread this? you blew through that process quite quickly with no specific instructions. You kind just, did it from afar lol with no narration. Any help would be greatly appreciate i'm trying to thread the top half through where the needle goes. Seems there are a couple compartments to try

    Just started sewing on a machine I bought at Salvation Army. Don't have the same model, but this and the downloaded manual (Those grainy halftone pictures make this vid look like IMAX.) got me exactly where I needed. Practice will do the rest. Thanks much!

    Please I have this machine but don't know how to do a back stitch with it

    • @CraftcoreDIY
      @CraftcoreDIY  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This machine does not have a backstitch function. But I've honestly not missed it (my daily driver sewing machine is a straight stitch only from the 1930s). Instead of back stitching, I make my stitch length very small at the beginning of my seam. You can read an article on it by Marion Lewis: www.wistv.com/story/4073450/stop-backstitching-when-you-sew-eliminate-that-homemade-look/

    • @CraftcoreDIY
      @CraftcoreDIY  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I'm piecing a quilt, I don't bother adjusting length at all since the seams will be reinforced from intersecting blocks' seams. 🙂

    • @VoltisArt
      @VoltisArt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you really want a backstitch, can't you do the handful of stitches in reverse manually? Crank the wheel the wrong way.
