      Yea totally get it. Seahawks lifer since 1984. Have long accepted the fact we are a small market team and the major media outlets will not 'waste' any minutes on our team. If the Seahawks win against any major market team / Dallas / SF/ Philly etc - its going to be all about how that other team lost the game because most of the viewership is not in the PNW. Even during those magical SB years in the last decade with Wilson / LOB et all - -EVEN then the disrespect was immense when you think back. Doug Baldwin and Richard Sherman could do a 4 hour talk on that issue alone. So whenever they do win - and get some attention on MSM - I love every minute of it.

    I'd imagine Seattle would want to keep both QBs if they can. A great backup QB is a valuable thing to have in the NFL, and there really aren't many better jobs out there than being a backup QB. This could extend both of their "playing" careers for many years.

    Good report. The NFL has changed and in the current NFL you need three quarterbacks. Battery starter in a back up. And I believe it’s getting to the point where on any given day against any Defense any one of the three could play. It’s gonna take like major league baseball certain quarterbacks have certain strikes to get certain defenses supplier or in the entries are adding up soda have. It takes three quarterbacks to win the trophy.

Just happy to see Drew have some success, he was not in a good situation in Denver and then got sick during the QB competition here is Seattle. Drew Lock's a top talent there's a bias against 2nd round picks , his misfortune was being drafted by a horrible team as a 2nd round pick despite this he played well as a rookie and also during a covid year and with bad coaches . When he got to Seattle he couldn't compete for job in camp cause he had covid himself otherwise he wins the job cause he's better than Geno , this past camp it wasn't an open competition , Lock looked fantastic in Pre Season . If Drew Lock was a 1st round draft pick he's starting his 4th year as a starter that's the way this league works if you're a 1st rounder you stay on the field even if you suck . If you're a 2nd rounder who's now a backup the media and public buries you . I give Lock all the credit for hanging in there he deserves to play .

    I think Geno's O-line was so decimated, he deserves another shot. Somewhere else. Because it wasn't all his line's fault. We knew when we resigned him that he had a drinking problem, and that's why the Shawks got a very team-friendly deal. He should have been suspended last year by the league for his 100mph drunken car chase where he repeatedly threatened to beat up the cops if they took off his cuffs. Everyone looked the other way so he could get a new and better contract and maybe retire in some comfort, but still. These things happened, and many predicted his drinking would creep in and hurt his play the next season.
    This is why the S-hawks are moving on from Smith. If they plan on doing it next year, they MUST do it NOW. And instead of bringing in someone else to be QB1, why not give Lock a chance to show what he has? What he has is a rocket for an arm that can hit all of the tight windows, but can he put it all together? It's time to find out!

  • @IanSane
    @IanSane 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +26

    As a Seahawks fan, I say we stick with Geno if he can play. Yes, Lock delivered big in the comeback in last night's game, but even on that last drive he had missed throws that were a mile from the receiver. The first throw of the drive was almost an interception. He did what everyone hopes a backup can do: keep the season alive while the starter is out. But I wasn't seeing enough consistency to suggest he should be the starter. Unless he was missing targets simply because he hasn't had enough reps with his receivers in practice and that improves with time.

    Drew did do great, it was a performance that rode that gray blurry line between excellence and luck. But if you want to give the man a crown after a couple games, he almost threw 2 picks on the same drive, missed a bunch of throws to Lockett whether that was drew or Lockett or a bad decision. DK’s miracle catch was an iffy throw and it was only a stunning set of 3rd and longs that he converted on deep passes that won the day. You simply can’t take it away from him. He did it and won that game. You look at some of the how he won that game and you say, dude did great but I wouldn’t put money on that being highly repeatable. I say this as a diehard Seahawks fan and happy the kid got his moment to show what he can do. And I’d love to see him and Geno have more of that luck. Take notice but understand the context.

    This is five minutes of speculative filler to spice up a narrative. And it isn't there. I will tell you what will happen because I've sensed this from the minute the Seahawks made that jackpot trade with Denver: Once Geno was established as the starter during preseason last year, he was and _is_ going to be the starter for the duration of his contract, regardless of whether the team blows it up next year or takes it all the way out to 2025; and at that point Drew Lock will take the reins. Pete Carroll did it with Geno as Russ's backup, and after 4 years as the backup he was _ready_ to start after waiting patiently for his opening.
    I think Pete's approaching it exactly the same way with Drew Lock; keep him in that backup role for the duration of Geno's contract, and once Geno hits 36 y/o and assuming the Seahawks have stayed competitive, they'll let Geno retire or move on with all the proper tributes to what he did for the team, and Drew Lock will become the heir apparent. That's the way Pete is -- he loves developing talent that other teams were unwilling to take the time to do because they made no attempt to understand what. makes. these. players. _tick._
    To Pete it's self-evident the talent Geno and Drew both possess, he's just very adept at getting Geno and Drew to be the best Geno and Drew possible in order to get the most out of that talent. It's Pete's secret to being the great HC that he is. He is 100% player-oriented and _most_ of the players respond to that -- at least those who don't have egos or have been jaded by other teams. I'm convinced that's how this story is gonna play out, as long as Seattle stays in playoff contention each season and Geno's not the reason they're not competitive.

    Drew Made some great throws last night, and too many poor ones. This would improve, probably, with him actually playing more and having his receivers become more used to his ball, instead of a left-handers. But, I don't think after last night, that Geno is out for the rest of this year. He may be at the end of the year, though. And Drew should get serious consideration for starting somewhere, like the former Husky is on his team. If Geno moves on, Drew might be a good choice to tutor whatever QB that the team drafts for at least a couple of years. It seems to me that a lot of promising QBs coming into the league have been far too rushed to be thrown in to the lions. So, I would like any future QB coming in to this team to get some transition time., and Drew might be a good choice for the transition. After all, most incoming QBs will be right-handers.

    I like both QBs, they've done well. Geno had his magic season last year but the magic is gone. This season he seems to make numerous horrible decisions each game and hasn't been seeing his receivers or the field as well as last year, despite all his new weapons. Drew is good, and can flourish in this type of system. But he also makes some bad throws and to me, doesn't have enough arm strength for the deep, deep balls, or enough arm finesse for the touch passes. The Seahawks can't make a deep playoff run with either QB, they need someone more dynamic. I'd love for them to draft a young QB (hopefully Bo Nix...I'm a UW Huskies fan and love Penix but prefer Nix in this kind of system more). Pete is never, ever, ever, ever, ever going to change his ways so the Hawks will be relegated to winning late in the 4th quarter because Pete likes the game close, keeps running even though they have less than 20 total yards rushing midway through the 4th quarter, and is okay if his defense gives up 400 yards and 30 points per game...as long as they win at the end. But the new Hawks aren't built for those kinds of comebacks each game, especially with Wilson gone. Geno and Drew cannot, and will not be able to do that every single game. It may be a blessing if they lose out and get a higher draft pick. Better that than barely not making it in the playoffs or getting beat during the wildcard....again.

    Stick with Lock " Geno had way to many chances , he holds the ball to long / takes to many sacks ! Lock has the hot hand give him a chance . against the Eagles Lock took a couple of sacks, Eagles would have sacked Geno at least 7 or 8 times and we would have got blown out as we did with previous games Geno played in ! Lock has a quicker release than Geno , video`s don`t lie...
