@PompyPieYT Throughout this journey, the ruthless and victory-minded Athena was softened and learned to appreciate and yearn for a world of mercy. Meanwhile, Odysseus, once an idealist for mercy, only delved deeper into hate and ruthlessness. The goddess became a little more human, while the man only became more monstrous. They’ve essentially swapped places from My Goodbye, and that’s amazing.
To give some context, someone already pointed out the signifi of the bed. Ody was legit like "I'm not the same guy you knew." And Penelope was like "Go move that bad." And he was like "MOVE. THE. BED? THAT I CARVED?!" and she was like "You absolute dork, of course you're the same person." Because no matter what Ody will be that dumb kid who went "Ahaha." To making someone fall for his bluff, and thus fell for his wifes.
I thought it was because their love can be carved and changed like the tree but the roots are always the same and it was like she was proving to him that he is the one she fell in love with even if the outside is different the roots are the same. Or smth
@@johnjacob981could be, it's up to interpretation. The general message is the same, he's still Odysseus at the end of the day. No matter what he's gone through, he's her husband.
@@IreneShardaForeverAbsolutely this. As a villain lover, any song that makes you react to them in the way the creator desired (whether that be you start feeling for them and understanding their actions or you want to make them immortal so they can never find peace once you start sawing their body bit by bit, Antinous being the latter) is a good villain song. Further, depiction, discussion, or even appreciation of depictions of triggering topics like genocide or rape does not equate to acceptance or approval of it. This song makes me despise the suitors and appreciate Odysseus’s massacre, and for that, it is a success.
If you want to feel even more uncomfortable: during the part where Antonius is describing how he'll SA Penelope, the viola sounds like it's screaming "No!" Which is Penelope's instrument, because her cries are like music to him

Consider all the lovely things Ody has said this sage both in anger and in pain. we learn he built this place with his own two hands. before him there WAS no place here... we learn to that Ody built their wedding bed with his "blood and sweat Carved it into the Olive tree where we first met.... The only way to move it is to CUT IT FROM ITS ROOTS!" he didn't just make their bed out of the tree they met at. he carved the tree into what would become their bed while it was still standing there. then he built the first room of his one day palace around it to be their bedroom from there he built an entire palace around that room to be the center the seat the heart of his new kingdom. the only reason he rules Ithaca instead of somewhere else. is because he founded this palace on the foundation of the love of his wife. this bed this palace this kingdom was forged by his two hands all in reverence of a woman of cleverness and cunning who caught his eye when every other man in Greece was perusing her cousin. Her cousin famed as the most beautiful woman in all of Greece. and it still stands today because his match partner and equal maintained it cared for it nurtured it and yes ruled it for 20 years while he was gone fighting the war he promised himself to so that he could earn the right to court her.

If I'm looking at this right, Odysseus strung his bow and shot through the axes during the very end of Hold Them Down, that's probably what killed Antinous at the end of the song.
To be fair, their plan had merit, it wasn't about killing Telemachus, it was about holding him hostage in order to make Odysseus do what they wanted, and something like that would probably work, at least until Odysseus could think his way through, though thankfully it looks like he doesn't have to worry about that.
Throughout the musical, "Waiting, waiting" is said, but never finished. However, in Would You Fall In Love with Me Again, Penelope finishes her waiting by saying "for you".
I realized that the song has a lot of parallels to the song Polyphemus. From the music to the chorus going "O-dy-sse-us" just like how it went "Po-ly-phe-mus" in his song It is also Odysseus coming back home to find a group of people in his home that's been plotting to hurt his family, just like how Polyphemus came to his cave to find Odysseus's men plotting to kill his sheep and having already killed one. He gets offered peace and is asked to spare the men, yet he refuses, just like Polyphemus. I suppose we can say that this time Odysseus himself is in the place of Cyclops. idek if thats intentional I just realized that while listening to Odysseus for the first time but knowing Jorge it probably is tbh And obv the Scylla reference, "Keep your head down, he's aiming for the torches!" makes one remember of the way Scylla spoke to him, "We are the same, you and I" Anyways yes I love the song and I2m yapping I'm sorrysgdhhjsj
Bonus parallel to Polyphemus: Odysseus kills Antinous and then tells them that he's had "enough," which is the exact word Polyphemus used after killing Polites, and then beginning his slaughter.
To be fair, Eurymachus, the one asking to be forgiven, was the most genuine guy who had little interest in harming Penelope nor Telemachus to get to them. He was the one suitor who was genuinely nice to them and some say tried to protect them from the other suitors. Yes, he may have wanted to sit on that throne but he was a far better person than his 'competition'. Yet, he was always supposed to die, strings were pulled to ensure that.
108 suitors. and Antonius has by this time wrested control of them clearly he intends to be king and bribe the rest with the "spoils" of course. Antonius dies while saying all the horrible things he was going to do... and then Odysseus starts his song with his intro. that death was Antonius dying by Odysseus's hand.
107. One of them was just a bard and Telemachus's friend, who just genuinely wanted to win Penelope's heart. The other suitors threatened him and forced him to play for them. He's the only one of the suitors Odysseus spares, and only because Telemachus vouches for him. Other than him, Ody also spares his loyal swineherd and his herald, as they were completely uninvolved with the suitors.
@@rainestar6781 that is how it goes in the original Odessy yes... however remember that in the original odyssey Ody meets up with his son several days before the challenge. he conspires with his wife and son to set the whole thing up and carefully sorts out who is and isn't loyal. in this. that didn't happen. Telemachus hasn't vouched for anyone. he doesn't even meet him until the slaughter is done here. in this. his loyal servants don't help him with the assault they don't know is coming he has to do everything on his own. Penelope isn't reacting to his return and her son's success in his mission to find his father. she is reacting to what she perceives to be a divinely sent storm forcing her hand. furthermore Telemachus in Legendary say 108 old faces of men who call me small. he doesn't call out a single one of them as different or kind but lumps them all in one group... so either there are 109 people here and the bard isn't part of the 108 which means there is still 108 bad suitors... or else he never befriended Telemachus in this continuity... in which case we have no idea if the bard is still the same kind of man he was in the original... and even if he is... Ody probably still kills him unknowing that he was different with no son to vouch for him.
So cool that "Odysseus" is referring like one of the monster songs like "Scylla" "Polyphemus" "Charybdis" showing that now he's the monster that they made
You’re not alone in this, a lot of reactors seem confused. That being said, I don’t understand how people are confused as to who got stabbed (shot with the bow). for you and then the music kicks in with I'm JUST A MAN WHO'S FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE DEEP DOWN I WOULD TRADE THE WORLD TO SEE MY SON AND WIFE IM JUST A MAN but this time in triumpant Trumpets rather than as a desparing lament. and it cuts off before the part where he recriminates himself and begins to question when he will become a monster.
Penelope shows us that he is not in fact truly a monster deep down, he was just a man trying to survive! and now that he has, he can finally let the monster go and find peace again in her arms!
@PompyPieYT He learned to shape himself into a monster in his travels and that monster will now always be a part of him... but that is just it. the monster is a PART of the MAN that he is now. he is not the monster. he is a man that contains monstrosity forced upon him as it was and then adopted and weaponized... traded upon like his friends and comrades to make the journey home. and now home he is and the monster can go to bed for now... just like the rest of him can take his wife to bed.
Fun fact that one guy wasnt lying most of the suitors were chill and followed amphinomus who was kind and courteous or another guy who was more cunning like ody himself
people say ody copies the monsters he's faced in his slaughter of the suitors, but I didnt really get that vibe. He uses very rudimentary tactics that completely dumfound the suitors, its more highlighting how incompetent and arrogant they are that they dont even think of the simple things
I love both the challenge and the final song show why Odysseus fell in love with Penelope. You see Penelope had a cousin who in myth was claimed to be the single most beautiful woman in Ithaca if not greece and had many men chancing her. But ody saw and fell for Penelope becuase she was still beautiful but most importantly as the songs show, clever and cunning Ody fell in love with her wit and mind. Penelope first in a show of cunning tells the suitors she must first make a wedding veil as tradition and every night she undoes her work to stall for time. Then she sees the storm from Posidon and knows it wasn't normal and assumes its a sign either that her husband is coming home or that its time for her to pick a new worthy husband. Either way she knows she can't keep stalling so she makes a challenge. Her telling the suitors to string and shoot his bow through the axes wasnt a random impossible task, it wss a part trick ody would preform to entertain guests before the war. She picked this challenge specifically becuase she knew two things. 1 the bow was recurved which was rare and could only be stringed if you knew how to do it which was by bending the bow carefully with your leg. 2. Regardless of the nature of the bow it was still an incredibly heavy bow that required a lot of strength to string when you even knew the trick to do it, and more so to draw the bow. So even if a suitor managed to string it the strength of the bow made shooting the arrow through the axes impossible. She in her cunning made a challenge that no ordinary man could do, it was a challenge for a king. It was the perfect challenge to give since it ensured that whoever successfully pulled it off was either her Ody, or someone who was both wise and strong like her Ody and a worthy king. And secondly when ody finally returns she sees he has changed and his fears of not being the same so she tests him by asking a question only her husband would knoe and showing he is still her husband

No problem! I find it so hard to pronounce things from time to time, I know it’s Karibdis but my brain just automatically goes to chairibdis or something and I don’t know why. for you and then the music kicks in with I'm JUST A MAN WHO'S FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE DEEP DOWN I WOULD TRADE THE WORLD TO SEE MY SON AND WIFE IM JUST A MAN but this time in triumpant Trumpets rather than as a desparing lament. and it cuts off before the part where he recriminates himself and begins to question when he will become a monster.
I adore Would you fall in love with me again? I think the song might become my favorite lol
Literally, I want to play it at my wedding tbh!
I love both the challenge and the final song show why Odysseus fell in love with Penelope.
You see Penelope had a cousin who in myth was claimed to be the single most beautiful woman in Ithaca if not greece and had many men chancing her. But ody saw and fell for Penelope becuase she was still beautiful but most importantly as the songs show, clever and cunning
Ody fell in love with her wit and mind.

Okay, when i’m reacting to the animatics i’ll keep this in mind!! 😊
I noticed they're doing the stream now, so I want to react to the animatics immediately, meaning I won't have time to put the comments in because I want to do an elaborate video about all the theories with evidence, meaning I'll have to time stamp things! I'll give all the comments, because there are many, their own video on friday/saturday!
Would you fall in love with me again is now my favorite song. not my favorite epic song... my favorite song.
Valid! :D
28:31 No :)
I love your hair! And headphones, and your voice is so pretty!
Thank you so, so much!!
Im sorry for correcting you but nobody can seem to pronounce caribdis correctly it is pronounced as (ka-rib-dis) like it is insane how many people pronounce it the same way as you do so do not think you are alone once again sorry for correcting you some people find it offensive.
No problem! I find it so hard to pronounce things from time to time, I know it’s Karibdis but my brain just automatically goes to chairibdis or something and I don’t know why. It’s not anything malicious! I’ll try and just say the word a couple of times over and over again so maybe it’ll stick correctly, usually that helps! And thank you for being so nice about it!
oh man if you want a romantic song. Would you fall in love with me again is very very much that. I know you already watched it all so I am gonna comment on here.
NO MATTER HOW WHERE OR WHEN NO MATTER HOW LONG ITS BEEN YOUR MINE! ugh! my heart.
I liked your reaction, yes but I kept getting distracted by your rat. Your rat is so cute!
I’m sorry! Hahaha! She’s stealing the show! I have more rat content in case you want to solely focus on her!

I love the call back to each of the songs Circetheme in The Challenge, Polythemus chant in Odysseus, etc.
The animatics have dropped
I made the video!! Thanks for telling me! I got no sleep this Christmas…

skill issue 🤷♀
Literally, did you see the animatics?😂 the way they were stringing it was truly a skill dif
@PompyPieYT ikr? They're just petty 😌
Yes it is a skill issue but think about it Odysseus is jacked AF and probably was the strongest person in the kingdom
@@lil_demin2208 huh... I see your point 🤔

Oddysseus made Ares proud.
As much as I LOVE this musical, this video made me miss my rats lmao
I’m so sorry, rats are the best pets ever💕 I have more rat content in case you are interested, no pressure!
What kind of rats did you have? I’d love to hear about them!
Hi😊❤
Hii!!
6:35
I like your reactions but the amount of pausing makes me dislike this video
Thank you so much! Yeah i do pause a lot because there are always so many things i want to discuss, especially in this saga! I’m sorry if it was too much but i always try to make the content as transformative as possible so i’m not just taking the entirety of the music and do nothing with it! :D
@ I’ve seen some reactors fully react to the song and then discuss at the end or go back through and discuss. That is definitely the more cohesive way in my opinion.
@Rhin0beak there's no objectively right or wrong way to do a reaction video. this is just not for you. move on and have yourself a merry christmas
@ which is why I said “in my opinion”. We can have different opinions on the preferred way to make a reaction video. Hope that helps you learn! Merry Christmas
@Rhin0beak ah! I missed that cause I was too annoyed by your first comment. But my sentiment is still the same. If you don't like the pauses, then dont watch it. Don't expect the reactor to change their style to accommodate your preferences. Hope you learn that as well :)
