Correction: According to the original text, Rama actually got extremely raged when the Sea-God did not appear despite his 3 day-long worship dedicated to the god. Then Rama decided to drain the whole sea with his divine arrow and warned the sea-god accordingly. Out of aghast, the sea-god appeared at last and suggested ways to cross the sea. This dramatic chapter is called 'Samudra-Shasana' (A lesson to the sea).

Exactly even in a Christian household I used to heartily enjoy Ghototkach, Krishna Animated series, The Hanuman movie etc. I knew Adipurush won't hold up their legacy soon as I saw Prabhas's Raavan like stature and look for the role of Ram and almost childish look of Hanuman, we all literally used to hold air inside the mouth to mimick Hanuman like this

It's amazing to see how a 1992 Animation film with the budget of less than INR 1Cr (0.67 crores to be precise) by Ghibli studio gives competition to a 2023 film with a budget of 700 crore, and still wins without a question. Goodness prevails!
The Legend of Prince Rama by the Japanese animator Yugo Sako released in 1993 still remains my most favourite mainly because I grew up watching that. Loads of childhood nostalgia associated with it. Never gonna ruin my experience with this one.

The fact that Manoj Muntashir and Prabhas both have been integral part of Bahubali and Adipurush but it's the director/creator and his vision which makes it a success or a failure. My respect for Rajamouli has levelled up so much . He did not change his vision for the youth and made a Marvel movie out of it instead New Gen adored him for his perspective and story telling. Thats why he is where he is.
This is what I found when I searched for the animated movie - In 1983, while working on "The Ramayana Relics" a documentary film about excavations by Dr. B. B. Lal near Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh (India) Yugo Sako came to know about the story of Ramayana. He liked the story of the Ramayana so much that he researched deeper into the topic and went on to read 10 versions of the Ramayana in Japanese. After reading the Ramayana he wanted to adapt it into animation as he didn't think a live-action movie could capture the true essence of Ramayana, "Because Ram is God, I felt it was best to depict him in animation, rather than by an actor." TEM Co., Ltd. financed the production and a new production studio Nippon Ramayana Film Co., Ltd. was set up and the principal animation of the film began in 1990 with 450 artists on board. Indian animators guided their Japanese teammates with Indian customs and traditions depicted in the film like how dhotis are worn and how the children receive blessings from their elders. . He researched so much before making the movie and he was an outsider with little to no knowledge about Ramayan. Yet a guy from India who grew up with the story botched it. I'm glad I did not watch this!

You spoke my mind. Ramayana is not only limited to the characteristics and greatness of Shri Ram, but also the others. His brothers' (not only Lakshman, but also Bharat and Shatrughn) loyalty towards him is an excellent example to teach the new and future generations about family bonds and brotherly love, especially in an age where we see many siblings at each others throats just for property and wealth. Mata Sita, despite being someone who didn't participate in physical fights, was strong and resilient enough to protect her honor. Not once did she lose hope or give in to Ravan's threats, even when he threatened to kill her. Hanuman is the epitome of unconditional, innocent, and limitless devotion. Infact, there is a lot to learn from Ravan also. A wise, intellectual man he was, not just a psycho villian. Ravan is the representation of how lust, arrogance, overconfidence can destroy even the wisest of all minds. Shri Ram teaches us about selflessness, respect towards our elders, humility, how to remain calm even in the face of adversity, how to be fierce but level-headed at all times. Adipurush seems to be only about villian kidnaps the heorine, hero saves her. The essence of Ramayan and its characters is missed.
Truly. And Ravan was a gyaani and devotee of Lord Shiva, wise and strategic. Here he is just thoughtlessly evil, where his original intentions for avenging his sister Surpnakha's honor is lost. Lord Ram wasn't aware of the way of how to defeat him and on a losing battle, where Vibhishan told him how to defeat Ravan, which is just completely tossed out of the movie.
Remember how Prabhas fans were trolling every single thing about Brahmastra and saying "wait for Adipurush. You'll see how south promotes Hinduism" and all? LOL 😂
Kumbhkarna's son fight against Sugreev, neel, hanuman and the vanar sena were one of my favorite moments in the Legend of the prince rama movie. I can't believe they skipped it totally.
Neel was total wack in that movie, they showed how much of a skillful fighter he is at times same how young and inexperienced he was. I totally loved his portrayal in the Yugo Sako movie.

After the release of "Thugs of Hindustan" critics said what will get more disappointing than this movie where the cast includes Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan and still has a underwhelming storytelling, and then Adipurush arrives with ticking all the boxes to surpass TOH with adding more boxes of bizzareness, atleast TOH had well choreographed action set pieces and some scenes stood out positively.
Also TOH was completely fictionalized. Adipurush's entire PR machinary was dedicated to making it an adaptation of Ramayan and used religion to promote the film. It's disgusting.

I watched Adipurush yesterday evening... and my respect for Mani Ratnam increased. Mani Ratnam's adaptation Raavan ( his worst ) though flawed was still way better in terms of visuals, storytelling, music & treatment compared to Adipurush🙏🏻 If the makers wanted a spin on Ramayana.. they could've made a movie on Chadrabati Ramayana.
I watched siya ke ram aired on star plus and Ashish Sharma as Ram and Madrakshi Mundle as Sita still remain one of the best potrayals.. Ashish Sharma's calm and kind demeanor as Ram and Madrakshi as the strong and Resleint sita still feels fresh to me and hits close to home
TBH Ashish Sharma is absolutely the right casting for Lord Ram on tv within the current lot of actors present. He has the face and he has the genteel demeanour down pat!
The sad part is that Indian people know how to stage the Ramayana, they’ve been doing it for centuries. We have entire texts like the Natya Shastra and the Abhinaya Darpana that teach how to stage these things. There are four types of Abhinaya ( this is what leads the audience to the experience or the Rasa). If you have presented the Ramayan and the audience is upset at the end, you completely botched the Rasa. Angika Abhinaya - use of body, facial expressions. Rama has to appear composed. Ravana should not appear like some cartoonish villain. Every character in the story has a particular type of physical embodiment Vachika Abhinaya - this is dialogues in music. again dialogues were a mess in this film. Aharya Abhinaya - this is costuming and state setting. This is actually the most important thing in presenting a story from the itihasa. The audience has to be very easily able to tell the character from their costuming. they cannot be wondering why Ravan has some sort of teenage boy haircut. Satvika Abhinaya. Very difficult to explain but the subtle elements of expression. Watch Maduri Dikshit dance she uses them. Probably any dance teacher or even some fifth standard teacher or even a bunch of random aunties could’ve done a better job putting together a Ramayana.
I've always believed that to properly adapt the Ramayana to the big screen, the effort should be akin to the Production of "The Lord of The Rings" by Peter Jackson. Such an epic cannot be taken lightly.
One of the major setbacks I felt with the film was how emotionally empty each character was portrayed to be. Given that it's an epic that is so close to our hearts, there was no sense of connection with any character. Lord Ram is the embodiment of all things good, sincere devotion, a calm demeanor and a sense of peace that comes with him, and starting the introduction of Lord Ram with an illogical fight sequence just took away what Lord Ram stands for.
While Brahmastra too had poor dialogues, I feel that at least there was a vision, but execution failed. With Adipurush instead, there was no vision at all.

The difference between a director like Ayan Mukherjee and an Om Raut is clearly evident. While one had total conviction on his story that he worked hard to make sure it looked good on the big screen and spent years getting the perfect Visual Effects possible. He even took the public's criticism about the dialogues and atleast made some efforts to do some editing changes in the OTT version so that the scenes feel less cringy. While that may or may not have been totally successful it tells you a lot about a person who really had made a story with a vision, sincerity and conviction and really wanted the people to be invested in it. While the total opposite can be said of Om Raut and his team as there seems to ne no sincerity in the efforts to make this movie and it is clearly evident that they wanted to just ride on the Epic's popularity and people's emotions towards the text to just mint money. The way they have been giving interviews and press conferences and performing idiotic marketing gimmick are testament to the level of arrogance these people have. Shame of T-series and the entire team for making this such a disaster from the get go with zero effort. Adipurush is indeed the biggest scam of 2023
I was in the theatre yesterday, and a family with children was sitting beside me. The parents were truly disappointed, as they came thinking their children will learn about the epic.
I am so surprised that it's now that people are realizing Prabhas was a wrong casting for Ram ji. I hated him from the very first time i saw him in the role. I was even surprised that people weren't trolling or protesting against it. Instead, everyone was Preaching Prabhas, that wow, India's biggest star, he is looking amazing, he will get the movie the success it deserves. Literally log chaat rahe the. I consider him the most selfish actor. He 100% knew he was looking terrible in the role. Infact, he was more suited fir the role of Ravan than Saif. But still he took the role because he was hungry for the praise and credit. To be called the actor who does the biggest indian movies. He was also greedy like Om the director. Their only aim was to take advantage of people's emotions and make the biggest ever profit over it. They were overly confident that they can easily fool the audience and make money. If I may say so, I believe the actors too are to be blamed for this disaster. I understand the fact that an actor is mostly dependent on the director's vision for the movie, but come on someone in the cast should have questioned the sanity of the makers halfway across the shooting process. The story of Shree Ram teaches us that even in the most direst of circumstances human beings can make the choice to be compassionate, calm and courageous. Adipurush just destroyed the essence of the epic.

That's the joke of the century. Actors come into this project just to collect big pay checks. "Pan India" collaborations has become a joke with these spectacle based movies. It only works few times and the majority of time movies are not focused on stories and getting something new out of the actors. In prabhas case there's no story just try to replicate what he did years ago and attract other actors with promises of big pay day.
The animated Ramayan is my most favorite depiction of the stories and characters of Ramayana so far. I'm disappointed how some people with lack of creativity and originality keep trying to ruin beautiful things 🥲
The sad thing is that in yesterday's republic tv interview (probably) both the writer and director said "we have not created ramayan but a story heavily inspired by it" which was expected and predicted already when they knew thry will be questioned. This clearly shows the intentions of the makers. This event adds another excuse to the "boycott bollywood" narrative and also a reference to mock our ancient scriptures unnecessarily.

The problem with the movie is lack of research. The makers failed to understand the nature of characters. To oversimplify the dialogues you can't just change the powerful but calm nature of characters like Hanuman or Shri Ram. Ravan ki niyat kharab thi par wo bhi maha pandit tha.
Ramayana kaa kya research kare . It's an epic known by almost all the Indians one way or another. It's just pure laziness and felt like money laundering to me.

Ramayana story starts way early when Dasharath kills Shravana which is a preface for the situation to build up. Or could have gone back as long as Ravana conqurered all the three realms. Or could have gone back when Jaya and Vijaya were cursed in Vaikunta. After Jatayu's death, Rama kills Kabandha (a cursed Gandharva). Gandharva on attaining his original form, thanks and guides Rama towards Shabari's ashram. And Shabari's devotion towards Ram is a gem in Ramayana. Shabari then guiding Rama towards Kishkinda. Hanuman meeting Ram in a Brahmin's costume is a beautiful sequence on its own. In reality Ravana had asked boon that he should not be killed by any Gods, thus Rama is portrayed as normal man in the Ramayana. He lived as a normal man, took help of Vanara sena to glorify his devotees. Several questions arise when Bali is killed by Rama hiding behind tree. Even Bali raises all these questions. And I must say Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan beautifully uphold the Ram's character while answering these questions. One will understand the values followed by the living beings of those times. I would say they could have easily made 4 to 5 parts of the series with such a budget. Truth is Ram's character is so complex that actor needs to get himself immersed into the mindset of Ram which I believe only Ram can do. Even Lakshman's character is of devotion towards Ram and Sita. When Ram asks if these bangles are of Sita, Lakshman can not recognize.. but he does recognize the ring of her feet. Baharath's love for Ram is nothing like it. Bharath was in a distant land when Ram was sent to forest. He comes running to get his brother back. Its like sould leaving the body for him. He runs his kingdom by not sitting on the King's throne as he thinks it belongs to Ram. Even when Ram comes back from Vanwas, he doesn't want to go to Ayodhya and take the kingdom back from Bharath. He tells Hanuman to go and tell Bharath about His arrival. If Hanuman notices any sign of Bharath wanting to keep the kingdom he should reveal it to Ram, so that Ram will not take over the kingdom. But on hearing Ram's arrival, Bharath runs to wherever Ram is with teary eye. This classic could only be produced (even not in detail) once by Sri. Ramananda Sagarji. And with that people touch Sri Arun Govil's feet for doing justice to that character.

That's because Majoj Muntashir became brand ambassador for this movie. Since he was the one promoting and defending he is the one getting most heat. Secondly there are so many problems with the movie that reviewers comment on acting as a foot note only. Prabhas seems to be director's actor. If the movie was otherwise good, people might have said more on his acting.
Saw a beautiful comment here explaining how we could do Ramayan 7 part movie ... But hear me out, why don't we do a three-part movie (which is more practical) and between each movie we do an OTT series the covers the subplots. (similar to what Marvel is doing to build the universe) The three movies would be covering the main plots of the Ramayana story and an anthology styled series could be covering the important subplots within Ramayana that fleshes of the whole story. (3 parts and two series in between).
Yes! That is typically how I like large scale mythology/fantasy done. Just as how I wish LOTR was done and Rings of Powers should've been that anthology series instead of the shitshow that Amazon churned out.
Jatayu is actually a vulture while in adhipurush it is shown as a mad eagle with bipolar syndrome 😂. Raavana looks like a cyberpunk 😂 Those who want to really feel the intensity of the epic. Please do watch yugo sakos anime of Ramayana. Defintely the best one out there. 💯💯
Besides the creative choices, I think the biggest mistake that was made by the makers was to tell a story like Ramayan within a single film. No matter how long it might be, there are so many components that just cannot be fit into a single film. 2 or 3 films should've done the job.
Duology or Trilogy would have been better. . . Like first part setting up every backstory and ending with Sita Abduction. Second Part is the assembly of VanarSena and ends with Building of Ram Setu And the Third Part, the epic finale Would have just been awesome. Shit, I want to see that now!

Why the sequence of Vali and Sugreev were so beautiful is that they're very similar in their claims and it's hard to see who deserved the throne. Vali was the first king, the stronger one, who trusted his brother, and felt so betrayed when he thought that his brother abandoned him to die to have the throne and his wife. However, Ram decided to kill him, against his own rules of not killing from behind, for the sake of what (he believes) is right. It shows how thin is the line between what is good and what is bad, and also shows how wise ram was. What was pictured on screen in adipurush, a small child can understand why Sugreev was better than Vali, making Ram's judgement not grand enough to paint his character.
Ramayana can be made in two parts as part one can depict Ramayana until Sita is abducted and second part focuses on Lord Rama journey to save Sita from Lanka. As it would have made justice to the text.
The sad part is people are still watching this movie, it's earning crores daily, it'll be a financial hit, while movies like Qala, Gali Guleiyan, Bheed, Badhai Do go unnoticed. I have no faith in humanity's future. 🙏🏼

This could've been easily a trilogy but they had to make only one. Small correction - In Ramayan (atleast some equally prominent versions), Lord Ram pray to sea god, but when he didn't respond he threaten him. So that is the whole part, but it's true even there Ram was trying to solve things in peaceful manner, and teached us that violence should be our last resolve.
3D aspect is kept for tricking kids because, when we were kids we used to rush into theatres for experiencing it. But kids these days need more than 3D, a compelling story well presented.
I also still think the movie would've been better as a series than a movie. A series would've been able to cover more of the Ramayan rather than just rush it
I think it's not the length, but rather the lack of respect and faithfulness to the source material that is the problem here. While I understand that Ramayan is pretty vast to condense in a single movie, what they did character or dialogue-wise left a lot to be desired.
The dialouge from 1992 Legend of Prince Raam, when Raam asked the vaanar seena "kaya aap youdh karenge nayae aur Raam ke liye" still gives me goosebumps. Something Prabhas just could not channel.
Growing up the animated version of ramayan was my favorite movie... just watching its clips now in your video made me recall why I loved it so much... it was perfect❤
Also one correction...Lord ram did worshipped god of sea for providing path but when 3 days passed and there was not a single reply from god of sea he got out of rage and said he will just dry up the single drop then god of sea appears..but in the movie they shown it directly to that stage...
I just keep thinking about when some interviewers asked SS Rajamouli when he was gonna make Ramayan or Mahabharata cause he had shown his deep desire to make them in the past, he replied that if I make Ramayan I need double the budget of RRR and double the time and dedication that went into making both the bahubalis and I'll need all the actors willing to give me at least 5-6 yrs of their lives and producers willing to fund a massive project cause I don't think making Ramayan in just one part would be enough as it deserves at least 3 parts and because all of this is very difficult to achieve he doesn't know when he'll get the chance to make it. He also suggested that Mahabharata shouldn't even be tried to be made as movies cause again the amount of money and dedication needed is way too much so instead of movies making a big budget and high quality series with multiple seasons on ott would be better. So I just think if anyone can give justice to these epics its SSR only otherwise other people are just making half assed attempts like Adipurush.
One thing noticed in Adipurush is that in the original version Sita was in Ashok Vatika in Lanka and the Ashok tree still symbolizes grief and longing in hindu culture. But in the film instead of Ashok vatika it is full of cherry blossoms 🌸 with baby pink flowers all around as if Sita is in Japan. How come these makers are so dump about the facts

I think if you want to create the Ramayanam series it should be made in Anime, mainly in Japanese anime imagine Fights, Powers & battle sequences. No actor can do justice for the part. I know there is already one, but with modern anime, it will look fantastic.

Then Rama decided to drain the whole sea with his divine arrow and warned the sea-god accordingly. Out of aghast, the sea-god appeared at last and suggested ways to cross the sea. I’m a Christian but I remember watching and rewatching the animated ramayana on Cartoon Network every time it aired but now I’m shocked how that movie managed to pack so much story and lore in 2 hours they should re release that movie intstead of this I would happily watch it it’s so beautiful!

The Legend of Prince Rama by the Japanese animator Yugo Sako released in 1993 still remains my most favourite mainly because I grew up watching that. Loads of childhood nostalgia associated with it. Never gonna ruin my experience with this one.

The animated Ramayana was well made. A delight to watch.
The fact that Manoj Muntashir and Prabhas both have been integral part of Bahubali and Adipurush but it's the director/creator and his vision which makes it a success or a failure. My respect for Rajamouli has levelled up so much . He did not change his vision for the youth and made a Marvel movie out of it instead New Gen adored him for his perspective and story telling. Thats why he is where he is.

In 1983, while working on "The Ramayana Relics" a documentary film about excavations by Dr. B. B. Lal near Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh (India) Yugo Sako came to know about the story of Ramayana. He liked the story of the Ramayana so much that he researched deeper into the topic and went on to read 10 versions of the Ramayana in Japanese. After reading the Ramayana he wanted to adapt it into animation as he didn't think a live-action movie could capture the true essence of Ramayana, "Because Ram is God, I felt it was best to depict him in animation, rather than by an actor." TEM Co., Ltd. financed the production and a new production studio Nippon Ramayana Film Co., Ltd. was set up and the principal animation of the film began in 1990 with 450 artists on board. Indian animators guided their Japanese teammates with Indian customs and traditions depicted in the film like how dhotis are worn and how the children receive blessings from their elders.

You spoke my mind. Ramayana is not only limited to the characteristics and greatness of Shri Ram, but also the others. His brothers' (not only Lakshman, but also Bharat and Shatrughn) loyalty towards him is an excellent example to teach the new and future generations about family bonds and brotherly love, especially in an age where we see many siblings at each others throats just for property and wealth. Mata Sita, despite being someone who didn't participate in physical fights, was strong and resilient enough to protect her honor. Not once did she lose hope or give in to Ravan's threats, even when he threatened to kill her. Hanuman is the epitome of unconditional, innocent, and limitless devotion.
Infact, there is a lot to learn from Ravan also. A wise, intellectual man he was, not just a psycho villian. Ravan is the representation of how lust, arrogance, overconfidence can destroy even the wisest of all minds. Shri Ram teaches us about selflessness, respect towards our elders, humility, how to remain calm even in the face of adversity, how to be fierce but level-headed at all times.
Adipurush seems to be only about villian kidnaps the heorine, hero saves her. The essence of Ramayan and its characters is missed.

Kumbhkarna's son fight against Sugreev, neel, hanuman and the vanar sena were one of my favorite moments in the Legend of the prince rama movie. I can't believe they skipped it totally.
Neel was total wack in that movie, they showed how much of a skillful fighter he is at times same how young and inexperienced he was. I totally loved his portrayal in the Yugo Sako movie.
After Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan , the Legend of the prince rama is the best version of Ramayan. let's forget the movie adipurush even exists.

Tumbbad budget is just 0.7% of Adipurush's budget. That's all I want to say about the film. After the release of "Thugs of Hindustan" critics said what will get more disappointing than this movie where the cast includes Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan and still has a underwhelming storytelling, and then Adipurush arrives with ticking all the boxes to surpass TOH with adding more boxes of bizzareness, atleast TOH had well choreographed action set pieces and some scenes stood out positively.
Also TOH was completely fictionalized. Adipurush's entire PR machinary was dedicated to making it an adaptation of Ramayan and used religion to promote the film. It's disgusting.

I watched siya ke ram aired on star plus and Ashish Sharma as Ram and Madrakshi Mundle as Sita still remain one of the best potrayals.. Ashish Sharma's calm and kind demeanor as Ram and Madrakshi as the strong and Resleint sita still feels fresh to me and hits close to home
TBH Ashish Sharma is absolutely the right casting for Lord Ram on tv within the current lot of actors present. He has the face and he has the genteel demeanour down pat!
The sad part is that Indian people know how to stage the Ramayana, they’ve been doing it for centuries. We have entire texts like the Natya Shastra and the Abhinaya Darpana that teach how to stage these things. There are four types of Abhinaya ( this is what leads the audience to the experience or the Rasa). If you have presented the Ramayan and the audience is upset at the end, you completely botched the Rasa.
Angika Abhinaya - use of body, facial expressions. Rama has to appear composed. Ravana should not appear like some cartoonish villain. Every character in the story has a particular type of physical embodiment
Vachika Abhinaya - this is dialogues in music. again dialogues were a mess in this film.
Aharya Abhinaya - this is costuming and state setting. This is actually the most important thing in presenting a story from the itihasa. The audience has to be very easily able to tell the character from their costuming. they cannot be wondering why Ravan has some sort of teenage boy haircut.
Satvika Abhinaya. Very difficult to explain but the subtle elements of expression. Watch Maduri Dikshit dance she uses them.
Probably any dance teacher or even some fifth standard teacher or even a bunch of random aunties could’ve done a better job putting together a Ramayana.

I've always believed that to properly adapt the Ramayana to the big screen, the effort should be akin to the Production of "The Lord of The Rings" by Peter Jackson. Such an epic cannot be taken lightly.
One of the major setbacks I felt with the film was how emotionally empty each character was portrayed to be. Given that it's an epic that is so close to our hearts, there was no sense of connection with any character. Lord Ram is the embodiment of all things good, sincere devotion, a calm demeanor and a sense of peace that comes with him, and starting the introduction of Lord Ram with an illogical fight sequence just took away what Lord Ram stands for.

The difference between a director like Ayan Mukherjee and an Om Raut is clearly evident. While one had total conviction on his story that he worked hard to make sure it looked good on the big screen and spent years getting the perfect Visual Effects possible. He even took the public's criticism about the dialogues and atleast made some efforts to do some editing changes in the OTT version so that the scenes feel less cringy. While that may or may not have been totally successful it tells you a lot about a person who really had made a story with a vision, sincerity and conviction and really wanted the people to be invested in it.
While the total opposite can be said of Om Raut and his team as there seems to ne no sincerity in the efforts to make this movie and it is clearly evident that they wanted to just ride on the Epic's popularity and people's emotions towards the text to just mint money. The way they have been giving interviews and press conferences and performing idiotic marketing gimmick are testament to the level of arrogance these people have. Shame of T-series and the entire team for making this such a disaster from the get go with zero effort. Adipurush is indeed the biggest scam of 2023

I was in the theatre yesterday, and a family with children was sitting beside me. The parents were truly disappointed, as they came thinking their children will learn about the epic.
I am so surprised that it's now that people are realizing Prabhas was a wrong casting for Ram ji. I hated him from the very first time i saw him in the role. I was even surprised that people weren't trolling or protesting against it. Instead, everyone was Preaching Prabhas, that wow, India's biggest star, he is looking amazing, he will get the movie the success it deserves. Literally log chaat rahe the.
I consider him the most selfish actor. He 100% knew he was looking terrible in the role. Infact, he was more suited fir the role of Ravan than Saif. But still he took the role because he was hungry for the praise and credit. To be called the actor who does the biggest indian movies. He was also greedy like Om the director. Their only aim was to take advantage of people's emotions and make the biggest ever profit over it. They were overly confident that they can easily fool the audience and make money. Ramayan aisi movie hai jo main apna ghar bechkar bhi sahi banau lekin itni gandi banakar world level pr na release karu puri countryaur heritage ko embarrass karne ke liye. Director ko to itni gaaliya sunane ka mann kr raha hai ki hadd nahi. Abhi bhi pakka vo galti nahi manega bas defend karega khudku creative liberty ka excuse dekar.

If I may say so, I believe the actors too are to be blamed for this disaster. I understand the fact that an actor is mostly dependent on the director's vision for the movie, but come on someone in the cast should have questioned the sanity of the makers halfway across the shooting process. The story of Shree Ram teaches us that even in the most direst of circumstances human beings can make the choice to be compassionate, calm and courageous. Adipurush just destroyed the essence of the epic.

That's the joke of the century. Actors come into this project just to collect big pay checks. "Pan India" collaborations has become a joke with these spectacle based movies. It only works few times and the majority of time movies are not focused on stories and getting something new out of the actors. In prabhas case there's no story just try to replicate what he did years ago and attract other actors with promises of big pay day.
The animated Ramayan is my most favorite depiction of the stories and characters of Ramayana so far. I'm disappointed how some people with lack of creativity and originality keep trying to ruin beautiful things 🥲

The problem with the movie is lack of research. The makers failed to understand the nature of characters. To oversimplify the dialogues you can't just change the powerful but calm nature of characters like Hanuman or Shri Ram.

So we are just going to ignore the fact that the makers of Adipurush completely skipped the character of Akshaykumar (Ravan's Son) who in brawl was killed by Hanuman ji. Cool!!
Ramayana story starts way early when Dasharath kills Shravana which is a preface for the situation to build up. Or could have gone back as long as Ravana conqurered all the three realms. Or could have gone back when Jaya and Vijaya were cursed in Vaikunta.
After Jatayu's death, Rama kills Kabandha (a cursed Gandharva). Gandharva on attaining his original form, thanks and guides Rama towards Shabari's ashram.
And Shabari's devotion towards Ram is a gem in Ramayana. Shabari then guiding Rama towards Kishkinda. Hanuman meeting Ram in a Brahmin's costume is a beautiful sequence on its own.
In reality Ravana had asked boon that he should not be killed by any Gods, thus Rama is portrayed as normal man in the Ramayana. He lived as a normal man, took help of Vanara sena to glorify his devotees.
Several questions arise when Bali is killed by Rama hiding behind tree. Even Bali raises all these questions. And I must say Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan beautifully uphold the Ram's character while answering these questions. One will understand the values followed by the living beings of those times.
I would say they could have easily made 4 to 5 parts of the series with such a budget. Truth is Ram's character is so complex that actor needs to get himself immersed into the mindset of Ram which I believe only Ram can do. Even Lakshman's character is of devotion towards Ram and Sita. When Ram asks if these bangles are of Sita, Lakshman can not recognize.. but he does recognize the ring of her feet.
Baharath's love for Ram is nothing like it. Bharath was in a distant land when Ram was sent to forest. He comes running to get his brother back. Its like sould leaving the body for him. He runs his kingdom by not sitting on the King's throne as he thinks it belongs to Ram. Even when Ram comes back from Vanwas, he doesn't want to go to Ayodhya and take the kingdom back from Bharath. He tells Hanuman to go and tell Bharath about His arrival. If Hanuman notices any sign of Bharath wanting to keep the kingdom he should reveal it to Ram, so that Ram will not take over the kingdom. But on hearing Ram's arrival, Bharath runs to wherever Ram is with teary eye.
This classic could only be produced (even not in detail) once by Sri. Ramananda Sagarji. And with that people touch Sri Arun Govil's feet for doing justice to that character.

That's because Majoj Muntashir became brand ambassador for this movie. Since he was the one promoting and defending he is the one getting most heat. Secondly there are so many problems with the movie that reviewers comment on acting as a foot note only.
Prabhas seems to be director's actor. If the movie was otherwise good, people might have said more on his acting.
Saw a beautiful comment here explaining how we could do Ramayan 7 part movie ... But hear me out, why don't we do a three-part movie (which is more practical) and between each movie we do an OTT series the covers the subplots. (similar to what Marvel is doing to build the universe)
The three movies would be covering the main plots of the Ramayana story and an anthology styled series could be covering the important subplots within Ramayana that fleshes of the whole story.

I really don't understand why people keep trying to portray him as an eagle. Is it really so hard show our loving flying companion show correctly.
Besides the creative choices, I think the biggest mistake that was made by the makers was to tell a story like Ramayan within a single film. No matter how long it might be, there are so many components that just cannot be fit into a single film. 2 or 3 films should've done the job.
Duology or Trilogy would have been better.

Why the sequence of Vali and Sugreev were so beautiful is that they're very similar in their claims and it's hard to see who deserved the throne. Vali was the first king, the stronger one, who trusted his brother, and felt so betrayed when he thought that his brother abandoned him to die to have the throne and his wife. However, Ram decided to kill him, against his own rules of not killing from behind, for the sake of what (he believes) is right. It shows how thin is the line between what is good and what is bad, and also shows how wise ram was. What was pictured on screen in adipurush, a small child can understand why Sugreev was better than Vali, making Ram's judgement not grand enough to paint his character.
Bali and Sugreev is their own movie.
Ramayana can be made in two parts as part one can depict Ramayana until Sita is abducted and second part focuses on Lord Rama journey to save Sita from Lanka. As it would have made justice to the text.
The sad part is people are still watching this movie, it's earning crores daily, it'll be a financial hit, while movies like Qala, Gali Guleiyan, Bheed, Badhai Do go unnoticed. I have no faith in humanity's future. 🙏🏼

I actually came to know about Ramayana through the serial " JAI HANUMAN " .It used to air on DD 1 It was a great serial.
This could've been easily a trilogy but they had to make only one. My only hopes lies on SS Rajamouli making a multi part Mahabharata like basing a movie on 1 or 2 chapters from the epic. it will be a dream come true to if we get a Mahabharata Pentalogy or more than 5 movies diving deep into mythos and characters
Small correction - In Ramayan (atleast some equally prominent versions), Lord Ram pray to sea god, but when he didn't respond he threaten him. So that is the whole part, but it's true even there Ram was trying to solve things in peaceful manner, and teached us that violence should be our last resolve.

3D aspect is kept for tricking kids because, when we were kids we used to rush into theatres for experiencing it. But kids these days need more than 3D, a compelling story well presented.

I think it's not the length, but rather the lack of respect and faithfulness to the source material that is the problem here. While I understand that Ramayan is pretty vast to condense in a single movie, what they did character or dialogue-wise left a lot to be desired.
The dialouge from 1992 Legend of Prince Raam, when Raam asked the vaanar seena "kaya aap youdh karenge nayae aur Raam ke liye" still gives me goosebumps. Something Prabhas just could not channel.

Growing up the animated version of ramayan was my favorite movie... just watching its clips now in your video made me recall why I loved it so much... it was perfect❤
Also one correction...Lord ram did worshipped god of sea for providing path but when 3 days passed and there was not a single reply from god of sea he got out of rage and said he will just dry up the single drop then god of sea appears..but in the movie they shown it directly to that stage...
I just keep thinking about when some interviewers asked SS Rajamouli when he was gonna make Ramayan or Mahabharata cause he had shown his deep desire to make them in the past, he replied that if I make Ramayan I need double the budget of RRR and double the time and dedication that went into making both the bahubalis and I'll need all the actors willing to give me at least 5-6 yrs of their lives and producers willing to fund a massive project cause I don't think making Ramayan in just one part would be enough as it deserves at least 3 parts and because all of this is very difficult to achieve he doesn't know when he'll get the chance to make it. He also suggested that Mahabharata shouldn't even be tried to be made as movies cause again the amount of money and dedication needed is way too much so instead of movies making a big budget and high quality series with multiple seasons on ott would be better. So I just think if anyone can give justice to these epics its SSR only otherwise other people are just making half assed attempts like Adipurush.
One thing noticed in Adipurush is that in the original version Sita was in Ashok Vatika in Lanka and the Ashok tree still symbolizes grief and longing in hindu culture. But in the film instead of Ashok vatika it is full of cherry blossoms 🌸 with baby pink flowers all around as if Sita is in Japan. How come these makers are so dump about the facts

"Ramayan- The epic' (2010) also deserves the hype. I used to watched it on CD when I was younger and it was one of my favourites. The BG score is so powerful and nostalgic. It is a 3d animated movie and worth a watch. Available on TH-cam. My cue to binge watch it rn 🏃♀️

As a Telugu person, Saaho was a mistake on tollywood. It was under the direction of a Telugu director. Adipurush despite starting Prabhas, is a mistake on Bollywood because it was predominantly under the direction of a Hindi director and a Hindi production. Don’t hate please

I think if you want to create the Ramayanam series it should be made in Anime, mainly in Japanese anime imagine Fights, Powers & battle sequences. No actor can do justice for the part. I know there is already one, but with modern anime, it will look fantastic.
