  • Dark Side Of The Ring creators Evan Husney and Jason Eisener return to talk about their new 4-part docu-series, Who Killed WCW? (airing Tuesdays on Vice TV). They explain how The Rock and Brian Gewirtz got involved, why Hulk Hogan didn’t take part, some of the things that Kevin Nash said that didn’t make the final series, and why Eric Bischoff was among their favorite interviews. They talk about Bill Goldberg’s involvement, tracking down and interviewing some of the original Turner Executives, and discovering a treasure trove of documentary footage that was shot during the last Nitro and never released! Evan, Jason and Chris all reveal who THEY think killed WCW, and Chris shares some of his own stories about his time there, his decision to leave, and the one thing he does to this day that’s a direct result of how he was treated at WCW. Plus, will there be a season 5 of Dark Side Of The Ring?

Hey man. I have a suggestion for your Learning Tree character. It would be really interesting to see you interact with the women while helping to push their stories along. You could also draw legitimate heat by pushing that line that Vince crossed one time too many.
You would be using the Learning Tree as a “school”. And you’d have to rely upon referencing Vince and telling that story.
I also think if there’s anyone worthy of your time, it would be Lethal. You could tell a retirement story (if if happens or not) with someone you can cut dialogue with.
    Thanks for reading.

You had your last match in WCW on July 21 1999 not June

This explains why Jericho’s WWF debut was not mentioned as a catalyst for people jumping ship.

I don't think it was. Prime WCW had the feel of a grande sporting event. It had the same aura as an NFL game of the same era. It sank when the steam ran out and they started shifting towards more scripted storyline based plots that weren't about competition.
For all the hoopla about Jericho, Benoit, and Eddie and what they did in the WWF, they never generated the same level of mainstream appeal that Sting, Luger, and Flair did in the prior era. And certainly not that of Hogan, Andre, and Savage.

Wrestling went down the hill when it became so obviously fake. I was a fan as a kid and young 20s. But, as I grew older it all became so fake and scripted, overly produced. It could have stayed in top of they hadn't gone this way.
