I fell in love with this one when it came out. Newly married, and 3000 miles from my family, my new husband out to see 11 days after the wedding, I couldn't go home either...
BACK AT ALMOST 84 & STILL RELATING TO ALMOST EVERY WORD....THERE WAS AN UNCLE & AUNT IN ALL OUR LIVES. I MISS THEM TO THIS DAY,,,,JIM, Harry,Walter & Wilbur....I DID NOT DO ENUFF TO THANK THEM FOR THEIR SERVICE....I DO REGRET
Did these guys ever record a bad song,I never heard a song of theirs that was not great. The lyrics always tell a story. Touch a heart, and make you remember the past. They were very popular in some parts of America but sadly underrated in big cities. It seems like the real people who make up America loved them, but the superficial fakers never appreciated them. They were set 2 give a concert in my city I was so excited but it had 2 be canceled due 2 lack of ticket sales. I was heartbroken and never got 2 see them perform in person
I am sorry that happened! I was lucky enough to see them several times, once when they were still with Johnny Cash, and twice at the New York State Fair. They were the greatest! I went, with many others, to the fence surrounding their walk back to their bus, got 3 out of 4 autographs. Harold gave me food for thought, when I said I wished I was up there with them, he said, "Well, come on up"! Safe enough, since they were leaving! Jimmy Fortune had not joined them then, so I got to see Lew DeWitt.

Great song and the best group Love Don's voice and Jimmy is the best tenor ever
Classy act for sure.
.... This song.. expresses why I'm so afraid of my brother dying . . . He's 82, now.
Love this. Jimmy Fortune was so young.
Can't believe I've found another great song by the Statlers I'm first hearing now!
It is amazing how many albums they put out where every song is good.

If you go on their website, they have an 8 album box set. I would start there. It is their first 8 albums under the Mercury label.
